iSta Breeze Heli 4.0 Output power / Tristar 600v MPPT Power Curve
Переглядів 72День тому
@ToysforWatts This screen recording is to give an example of the expected power output of the "on grid" high voltage model of the Heli 4.0 in relation to output voltage (under load) . This video should highlight where the difficulties and inefficiencies are of attempting to use a typical MPPT with no means of adjusting the power curve . Moderate wind conditions.

Made lots of alterations since my last flight (a few years ago) including building my own 10,800mah Li-ion 3S2P pack , so this video is just an edit of the best bits from my test flight . Hoping to get the ranges increased substantially next time!

Had been flying for 12 minutes. Landing looked brutal but was actually very soft ! Tested out to 2Km Running the following, AKK FX2 Dominator and Spiro in the tail fin ZOHD KoPilot Lite TBS Crossfire micro tx module inside TX16S JJA-TM1200 camera 11.1v 5200mah Multistar LiPo Old Walkera Q3D gimbal
Hey Billy I’m planning to build and install also a heli 4.0 which setup are you using?
@@mrsvensmile Hiya and thanks for the comments. Basic system breakdown in the description but in addition i have a Siemens Sirius high voltage DC monitoring relay controlling a 7.5kw resistor bank via a 3 phase solid state relay to limit the turbine in high winds! As the TriStar can only cope with 3.3KW which covers most typical wind speeds. I also have a soft stop system of relays to electronically brake/stop the turbine controlled automatically on full battery or remotely via my phone using a Shelly relay. Sounds complex but it's all pretty straightforward to setup!
@ what I nice setup! I really will take you setup in mind and copie some components thanks from the Netherlands!
My i2000 made the same annoying noise all hte time. Sanded the blades with a fine sandpaper and primed them. Next was a layer of paint with.. sand.. yeah literal sand mixed in. Like birdsand grade. Makes the surface a little rough, but it dead silent now. Cant hear it at 25 meters ant 10ms wind. You notice it when the wind turns a bit and the turbine is tracking a bit roughly.
@@Deiphobuzz I've never heard of that idea thanks for sharing. I must admit it's quieter now having tuned the MPPT several times since then to effectively slow the rotor down . I noticed quickly the most whistling occurs following a gust then the rotor is freewheeling relative to the wind speed passing over the blades or when the MPPT was disconnected completely leaving the generator with no load so i deduced keeping the rotor loaded nicely helps the aerodynamics of the blades and avoids lots of the whistle . It still occurs to some extent but the house is 170 meters away so you never hear it there now even while stood outside and in any weather conditions but when it was first installed and the MPPT was poorly tuned you could hear it through the closed windows in even the slightest breeze!
very useful, was considering this
This is a professional wind generator I made myself, it's not as beautiful as this one.
Yep, that's coming soon .
sure seems to catch the wind very well, can you show us the meter?
2.5 to 3 M/S . Ista provide a performance chart on their site which I've found to be a good guide and matches with my own readings
Nice! thanks for the response. Glad to see more reviews on this turbine coming out.
Also another question, what type of tower is that and where did you get one? I have been looking at the Aeromotor towers for the heli 4.0 and making a bracket for it, but the one you have looks a lot cleaner.
@@austinshomelab1848 I wish I could tell you more about the mast . I bought it second hand from a guy who bought it new with his 2kw turbine years ago, the only places I've spotted ones the same are as floodlight towers around airports. It's hydraulic folding, fully galvanised and probably originally intended for use as a floodlight mast. As per your plan , I did have to fabricate an adapter plate on the top section And yes no problem, there is a lack of discussion on these turbines it seems . Ista probably don't help the popularity struggle by providing so little information on making the turbine actually work as part of a system .
@@RemFireball I'm sad to hear this. I have a quote from Alibaba to have a hydralic lift 12 meter pole, but it's still about $6500 and that is still more than I want to spend but not unreasonable.
That sounds likely enough for cost . I spoke to SD wind energy in the UK and they sell hydraulic folding mast kits for their turbines and they were minimum of £6500 @@jaykuykendall2647
Nice! Just curious, at what windspeeds did you see the turbine start to produce enough voltage to charge a48v lifepo4 battery bank?
Liked and subbed. I fly a Ranger 2000 also.
Thanks! I love how this plane fly's! Much more coming soon too, as the weather improves and once Christmas is out of the way!
