How the hell did I miss this one? This record is amazing! Side A is a great hybrid song. It's so simple, but works amazingly well. Imfa is crazy good and is straight up Zamrock IMO. What a great record! It's so utterly unique. I have some of his other records coming my way. I'll send you a note when I put them up. Hopefully they are as cool as this one is.

A late update for non Nyanja speakers. I still don't speak Nyanja, but I did ask my dad about the song. His hearing is shot so he can't make it out, but he didn remind me of a few things. Nsanje means jealousy. The lyric, "muleke nsanje" would mean "don't be jealous." The arguing at the end of the song seems to be complaining about price in the marketplace. The word Malasha means Charcoal. People would buy charcoal in the marketplace which was brought from rural areas on big trucks. Since Malasha was/is the main fuel source for cooking and heat, price was a big deal. You'll notice that the guy mentions Ninja in the argument. Ninja was a the slang term for a 50 kwacha bill at the time. It was so named due to the picture of a the freedom statue on the back of the bill. The freedom statue is a famous statue in Lusaka that depicted a black man breaking chains of colonialism. It was locally referred to as "the Ninja."

Was putting together a 5 revolutions discography playlist and came back to this. Sweet Little Christine is really catchy. Based on the label number, this may be the last Zamrock record they did... or at least that has turned up in the collector market. There's still a lot of undocumented music out there from the mid to late 80's, likely because sales numbers began to tank as tape cassettes and piracy became or common.

No idea how I missed this one. Side A is not bad. Side B is where it's at tho. I love when Zambian music used piano. It's pretty uncommon. There are so many mishmashed influences here that tug on my brain, but it all organizes together into a great piece of Zamrock.
