Review of the Azeron Cyborg
I made the rather hasty purchase of an Azeron Cyborg gaming ... thing. These are my opinions of the device.
I realised after I had finished recording that I forgot to comment on the second reason I bought this which was to see if it would reduce the likelihood of RSI. For those who are interested, I don't think that it will make a lot of difference - the claw shape you have to make with your hand to use this is probably no better or worse than using a keyboard.

Sticking key on a Cherry silent keyboard Stream 3.0
Переглядів 7 тис.2 роки тому
This is a video showing how I fixed a sticking key on a Cherry Stream 3.0 keyboard. This is a silent keyboard so it has a scissor mechanism rather than a straightforward mechanical one. I am uploading this because I couldn't find anything on UA-cam or Google that would help me. Please forgive the state of the keyboard, I had no idea how minging it was until I started filming this with a bright ...

I have a Victorian-style bath/shower tap set with a dodgy diverter. I searched the Internet and UA-cam in particular but I couldn't find anything that described how to take this unit apart. In the end, I gave up and bought a new one so, while the old one was sitting on my desk I thought I might as well take it apart to get an idea of the internal mechanism. I am hoping that this video will help...

Farming Simulator 2019 Bale Trailer Reversing Tutorial

This is a tutorial showing how to reverse the bale trailer in Farming Simulator 2019 round a 90 angle, into an unloading bay. Reversing this trailer is particularly challenging because it is a Dolly Trailer with a steerable front axle that presents the player with two pivot points to deal with instead of just one. I am not an expert in this and there are certainly players out there who are far ...

Parkzone micro Spitfire post crash and repair
Переглядів 48810 років тому
This is shows my Parkzone micro Spitfire after its maiden flight(s). I made a major cock-up with the original repair in that the first CA glue I used was foam friendly but then I tried using a penetrating CA glue to reinforce what I'd done. It turned out that this was not foam friendly and melted things pretty badly. I managed to get the plane into what I thought was a flyable state but it kept...

    Didn't matter how meticulous I was, the mechanisms on most of these keys are extremely flimsy and complicated. I would not recommend doing this, I just broke two keys trying to get them unstuck. Now the right shift key is stuck down and another key had the tiny little hinge pin broke off. It's just not worth it. These things just aren't made with repair in mind

    Thanks a bunch! Managed to repair my stuck D key by using de numpad DEL as a donor. Sadly in my case it wasn't just a case of gunk, the silicon spring cup had broken in half! No regrets though, my model has been in use for some 8 years. It's an older wired version called the G230. Basically the same but without rebrand. Guess I'll have to go through some old laptops and check if those have scissor switches with intact cups. These parts are hard to find! Honestly scissor switches are just as repairable as mechanical keyboards aside from the unnecessary part scarcity.

      Oof that sounds like exactly what happened to me, the spacebar on my 3.0 was sticking so I popped it up and the little silicone bit had split horizontally... I was told by Cherry that it can't be repaired (easily) and they don't sell the replacement parts, and now the 3.0 seems to have evaporated from Europe lol (I did finally manage to find a black one that I'm hoping to get, but the white one is just... gone). How did you repair it with the donor? Is it possible for a non-techie person to attempt?

    Not sure if it worked in FS 19 already, but if you change your cruise control speed while reversing in FS22, it will act as a speed limiter. That allows you to go reverse at 1kph/mph when playing with keyboard (or controllers or pedals of course). For steering, you basically tap or pulse the keys for left/right whenever you don't want to steer at maximum angle. That said, it's still a 100 times easier with a steering wheel

    Sounds like a lot of is a skill issue like piano. With retraining probably take at least 100+ hours to really tune your muscle memory. Is it more comfortable than a keyboard? For reaching f keys ECT does it have a shift option for more keys binding?

    • @Sandman755
      @Sandman755 10 місяців тому

      I just couldn't see the advantage. It could be easier to reach the F keys if that was of importance. I'm sure that with plenty of practice it would be as good as a keyboard and if you like using a stick for control it may suit you well.

    How do you call this type of trailer?

    • @Sandman755
      @Sandman755 Рік тому

      There seem to be quite a couple of names for this kind of trailer but I would probably call them draw-bar trailers, I have also heard them called dolly trailers. I discussed them with my dad who used to drive them and he calls them draw-bar trailers but that could be a British thing. I have a sneaking suspicion that dollies might be a converter that turns an articulated (semi) trailer into a draw-bar trailer rather than a type of trailer in itself. This seems like a bit of a confused explanation but that's because I'm a bit confused about it myself. I hope it helped a bit.

    • @Sandman755
      @Sandman755 Рік тому

      Yeah. Having taken it to bits, I can see that's how it should work. I guess if I was a plumber with all the right tools, there's probably a tool that would allow me to hold the central spindle and turn the nut around it. I think this one was so scaled up and bent that it wasn't happening. I guess that, ideally, this should just be a case of unscrewing the top of the mixer tap, unscrewing the carriage around the spindle and removing it then replacing the bent bit and screwing it all back together. There was some white, crusty stuff that was falling off the threads as I was taking the top off the mixer, I'm not sure if that was limescale or some kind of sealant that would need replacing.

If it lives up to its promise it could well be a game-changer. @danhammond6579 Рік тому

      Thanks so much for the response! If I can ask a few more questions: What do you feel is the main performance blocker for this device ? Would you recommend it or v2 in 2022? Did you find any further use cases? Does the device allow much flexibility for key mapping including shortcuts and other commands?

    • @Sandman755
      @Sandman755 Рік тому

      @@danhammond6579 The main problem that I found with it was that it simply wasn't a better solution than using swipe-type. It is a fiddle to put on and you can't really walk around in general life with it in place because you wouldn't want to get it wet and it's not all that comfortable for permanent wear. This means that you have to put it on when you want to use it and take it off (and store it) when you don't. Not the hardest thing in the world but just not convenient enough to make it worth the effort. On top of this, the Tap isn't super accurate with its tap recognition, particularly around taps involving the little finger and ring finger where the fingers tend to move together. It can be a bit frustrating. My suspicion is that the problem is hardware related rather than software. I suspect that the accelerometers can't distinguish between one finger tapping and two. A lot of the time tapping an "O" will result in a "U" or the other way around. The other, glaring, omission is that there is no tap command for middle word selection, so when you are typing on a mobile phone, you can't just do a tap combo to select the suggested word in the middle of the predictive text bar. The addition of this function would massively speed up typing. I asked the question of tech support whether this was a possibility and I got the answer (and this is verbatim), "No." I don't know what new tech they are going to put in the wristband version but I am hoping that it is able to solve these issues. If nothing else, the wristband will be more convenient to wear all the time. You can re-map the keys to your heart's content but I found this too daunting a task and left them as they were so I don't know how well this would work. Trying to re-map the vast array of potential tap commands sounds like the kind of task best suited to coders who are happy to spend hours debugging a piece of software. I haven't used the V2 hardware and I don't know if there is there is a V2 software for the Tap 1. It didn't seem to update the whole time I was trying to use it. It has been sat in a drawer upstairs for at least a year now.

    To load profile in on board memory, you just click on the OBM #1 or #2 at the top of the profile. Did you actually use the thumbstick for movement as it is intended? That would free up a lot of keybinds and fingers for other stuff, like 1-9. Also you can put keybinds on layers or put modifier on mouse, or use longpress doublepress to get more keybinds. Put the F keys on long press if you have issue misclicking them in your game. Also you can put sponge behind the keys, to make them less sensitive while you are getting used to it.

    You have to be a bloomin' surgeon to clean a keyboard with scissor keys. I once tried 'popping' off a sticking keycap on an old Thinkpad not realising it had a complex mechanism. Ended up taking the laptop to a computer repair shop! Having said this, I'm thinking about buying the Cherry Stream TKL keyboard.

    Current waiting time on a Pruse Mini is 18 weeks now. They even sell the next model, which will ship 2nd or 3rd quarter of 2022. Not sure what is going on there. Ordered a Fys-etcetera kit yesterday from Aliexpress. The kit costs 169€ including shipping from somewhere in Europe to Germany with DHL and vat/tax. Ordered the printed parts off of Ebay from a dude in Spain for 40€ including shipping. So, if that all works, i'll have paid 210€ and wated only a week or two, which is ok. As for the sensor, you could just cut the sensors cable and resolder it to test your theory. Thanks for the video.

The amount of time and effort that must go into this just to establish a basic proficiency is daunting. I like the idea of the Tap and wanted one, but I think it would be too frustrating for me.
