    this video is a LITERAL life saver, thank you. this is the same problem I have with my 2013. Explains why I almost got ran over a few times. I don't know exactly when it happened, but I'm sure it's when I went up the mountains with my dad a few months ago. Had a spill into some bushes and got the handlebars tangled in the branches, I'm sure something there got into the front brake switch and broke it. I have that same issue of not having the little "bulb" thingy the brake lever retains pressure on. Ordering a new switch and getting it fixed ASAP, in the mean time, my rear brake still works for the brake light!

    Very good video, thank you for taking the time and effort to make and post it. I think that the poor reviews for the cheaper chain breaker / riveter tools is because people don't grind off the staked portion of the pin. I know people say they remove pins without grinding them, but if not grinding, one has to use an incredible amount of force to push the pin out. Thanks again! PS: a third hand would sometimes be really handy, don't you think? LOL

    Most of people don't know they are driving with others on the road, most don't check mirrors, just don't let it get you too, let em go, just point at them for their fault but let em pass, better em going wrong than you getting dragged in the wrong. Ride safe.

  • @unthinkablefate9503
    @unthinkablefate9503 3 місяці тому

    You had time to brake and were in his blind spot. He also used his blinker. You probably would have been better off in the far right lane on that Grom anyways. Stay safe out there homie.

    • @rEsage_
      @rEsage_ 3 місяці тому

      Did he? Is in the process of accelerating and is at 44mph when the car puts their blinker on. He's not that far back from the car with really not that much room to react properly whilst in the middle of accelerating. Although, we do see him react and brake (as we see the MPH drop) when he notices the car. Instead of slamming on the brakes (who knows if a car is behind him, and we clearly know cars don't pay attention to motorcycles) he speeds up to make the pass on the vehicle whilst alerting them with horn. Some ego? sure. But to say he had enough time... It's a lot easier to jump the gun when watching a video. But being in his position, with the adrenaline surge you get as a car is cutting you off, it's not THAT easy.

    • @rEsage_

      @@unthinkablefate9503 I literally just got back inside from a ride and I've been riding for 16 years. I never said anything definitive. So what makes your 10 years so definitive if I have more riding experience? That 'definitive' statement doesn't make sense. Especially from the 3rd person perspective of a video. 45mph does not look that fast like this. Not to mention we're getting a static view from around the mid section of his body. His helmet, in the reflection, shows him looking more so to the right (another car jumping into the right lane? who knows...), and then at the car as he passes. So yeah... based on this specific instance, and this video alone, he most likely didn't have enough time to react properly. Could it have been done differently? Sure. He probably should have been scanning more.

    • @unthinkablefate9503
      @unthinkablefate9503 3 місяці тому

      @@rEsage_ you might want to rewatch it. He starts hitting his horn the moment the car starts moving rather than letting off the gas or moving right. He reacted to the car moving but rather than reacting in a safe way he accelerated through the blind spot next to the car. Yes the driver should be paying more attention but the riders reaction put him in more danger rather than getting out of it.

    • @unthinkablefate9503
      @unthinkablefate9503 3 місяці тому

      The rider looks to have let off the gas for a second dropping 2 MPH then guns in next to the still merging car.

      Well... look at it again. They're already at 45mph and accelerating when the car puts it's blinker on and starts moving over. The rider is also really not that far back from the car as the car goes into the riders lane. We also don't know if there is another car behind the rider that scooted over into the right lane, leaving them with even less of an area to maneuver out.

    • @realdemocracy1049

      @@rEsage_first mistake of the Rider - being too close to the vehicle side after a junction. It is well known that drivers tend to drift off to the other lane so the best thing for you is to stay back and be prepared as they can do it when you are on their side. I know its the drivers fault, but shit happens and you dont want to end up under the car. Second mistake is braking too soon and then stopping braking and accelerating. Why the fuck would you accelerate to the side of the vehicle that cut you off?

    the tool is disposable to say the least, it is soft iron for a high displacement motorcycle is taking risks, its trick to insert the sheet metal with two holes, it needs a lot of light to see or it could be riveted, and if the chain is for pulling, it is simple, it is cut and that's it, there is no need to review or extract pins with that toy riveter which I do not recommend to anyone, for the same money a professional mechanic will do it for me with a professional riveter, still thanks for the video, good contribution to know how not to

    Spend money on a better breaker kit. I'm a retired professional, and I'm really easy on my tools. I believe on using discount tools if they do the job a few times (unlike Snap-on that are meant for making money) BUT...almost everything I have used in this kit has failed on just one D.I.D 525. I WOULD NOT recommend buying this kit on Amazon.
