I read somewhere that R.D. James edit's/records his tracks in real time/speed but is he really? He prob. breaks his own rules and what he say's to the media is just talk sometimes. I can see him editing a song in this pace and then speeding it up to the favorised tempo. What do you think? Also I can imagine him releasing something new this year.
I think he just gets drunk with an MPC and a bunch of gear and jams out a track or two per session
at this speed it almost sounds like a sequencer being stepped along and you can hear each step for what it is
never bought into that idea about him composing at vastly different speeds - I think the process he underwent had to invoke his own emotion and appreciation so therefore why would he release the music at a different pace to what he felt most suitable in the moment? He has re-released some of his tracks at different speeds, and he usually includes 'slo' or 'fast' in the title to indicate that. However, it's not like I know the guy! and i've definitely made tracks at one speed and later preferred it at another speed - always interesting to consider :)

Interesting how this sounds a bit more straightforward played at this speed. Makes me think he probably wrote the track around this speed and then increased the tempo for the album.
@@joelstanier5419 hard to say, there's a demo version floating around out there that iirc is album speed, though with more basic 'starter' drums and synth sounds.
@ifthisthenthat79 Interesting. To be honest though nearly all the music on this channel kind of makes more sense at those speeds. I suspect it's common for this genre to punch in the sounds at a slow pace and then just adjust the tempo to taste. I've thought about doing it with my own music in fact.
