Another Great way to turn Transparent Resist/Gutta into Colored one in Silk Painting (Part 2)
I decided to expand the idea of turning clear resist/gutta into colored one, and tried to make a resist line almost invisible. So Silk Painted image looks more organic and cohesive. Because for me the color of resist/gutta is very important thing, and wrong line color may be intrusive or even ruin your silk painting's image.

So helpful. Did you use an anti-spread surface treatment or was this directly on untreated silk?
Thank you. I normally paint untreated silk, this time too.

Hi Your videos really helpful Myself is a fine artist my watercolors are very good but I have never done with Gutta although I have all the material ready but scared to start with gutta outline is there any way how to make DIY base for silk so colours don't spread without Gutta outline I want to know also how much is the shelf life of Gutta in a jar(pebeo one) 200 ml kindly reply I m from India Thanks
Hi, my best regards to India Thank you for your interest! 1) there's a spray stopping the dyes to spread, but I couldn't remember the name of it, I'll try to find out and than text you later 2) sometimes they are good for years
Hi I have one question why did you use different colour outline of petals before putting transparent Gutta outline is there any specific reason?
hi, thanks for asking 1) It gives live and variations to your image 2) The petals can be one color, but leaves for instance different 3) If clear gutta doesn't suit to your idea 4) I don't like clear resist (quite subjective reason :)))
It also gives depth and variation to your painting.

Do you have a list of the most necessary supplies for beginners? Using silk must be expensive. If one was to sell products, what sells best?
Like it was said in video a frame, a fabric, resist/gutta, a resist/gutta applicator (if it's not a free hand painting), paints (for beginners iron set paints go better). If you feel free to mix colors red/yellow/blue/black are enough, OR you can get those you like best. And may be pins, push pins or suspension claws (depending). I think that's all. As I know Dharma Trading provides with all this stuff, but I usually buy all the items at my local art supplies store.
This is wonderful! Beautiful! I have never seen this before. I want to learn. What is the final artwork used for? I love color. Cotton balls are one of my favorites to use.
Thank you very much! The final result may be a painting or this pattern could be a part of a scarf. I started to use cotton buds in this video, may be you'd like to watch it :) ua-cam.com/video/t5MKUZgT-b4/v-deo.html I also was happy to find out that can be used in silk painting.
Colors - in many hues and shades and combinations - was the reason I started to paint on silk. Beauty of it makes me happy. And one never knows, what will be the result. Also, I find the texture of jacquard (and how it influences the picture) fascinating and I wonder, what kind of silk fabrics do you use and what is the difference between them. Thank you for your video.
I' happy to hear that someone loves to mix color like I do :). And thank you for your question about silk differences. I've just thought about it. And now I will do such a video.

Hello Ilona, your videos are so inspiring that I decided to paint my own scarves. I bought iron-fix-paints and I took silk scarf from pongee. I looked good and smooth as I finished. Unfortunately, as it was drying, on sides appeared stains and the color is not unified. What did I do wrong? And how can I avoid it? I tried to find it on internet, but nobody makes videos about common beginner mistakes. I hope you will know what to do with your long experiences.
Hello. What a shame to hear that something goes unexpectedly. Unfortunately I can't see this problem, that's why it's hard to decide what exactly was wrong. But if this stains appears not everywhere, but only in some places, there might be silk quality. I would try next time to wash it in a warm soapy water before painting. If those stains spread evenly all over the silk surface, than it might be paints matter (expired or kept in wrong conditions) There are reasons I could come up with as far. Or it also could be that part of your frame was closer to the heating, and the temperature difference might influence.
@@issilkpainting Hello Ilona, thank you for your answer! I will definitely wash every scarf before use from now on. I was also thinking about the paint quality and I plan to buy it from another brand. The stains looks as if part of the pigment (dark) "condensed" on the fabric. Around the frame it looks brighter than further to the center. Maybe not enough color? Or too much? Well, it is a mystery. I plan to try steam-fix color too, but I don't have a good equipment for it. Thank you for your videos, I find it very useful. :)
@@mistr_makrela Thank you very much :) As you describe those stains - it looks like poor paints quality. But still it's hard to say without seeing it. It's always questions arose while learning something new. When I started painting silk, there also had been a lot of failures. I wish you good luck and hope you manage to find out the reason of those stains
It's so interesting to watch it. Thank you
Glad you enjoyed it!
Thank you very much for this very informative and detailed demonstration of how to work with and paint on silk!

Beautiful 🤩. What brand silk paints do you use mam
Thank you! I usually pick paints by color, not by brand (at a local art supply store). So I have a mix of them: Javana, Nerchau, Marabu, Decola (those are acrylic iron set paints). But still I prefer dyes (steam set)
16:39 will check. thank you mam.
This has got converted to a beautiful piece of Art. Thankyou for a wonderful tutorial.
Thanks so much 😊
Hi! What silk do you use? Thanks for the informative videos :)
Hi! You are so welcome I'm not sure in correct name of this silk in English, but may be it's called Taffeta/Tafts. It's a plain woven, pretty dense silk.
@@issilkpainting Thanks so much!
