i went through 4 rounds of interviews. 1st recruiter, 2nd technical interview with engineer, 3rd interview with sr. management, 4th hiring manager. I felt I did well to go through 4 rounds, but my 4th one with hiring manager ended within 30 minutes, when it was scheduled for an hour long. Now i feel a little iffy about landing the job. I watched many of these videos and most say thats not a good sign. Is that pretty accurate, or does it depend on the interviewer? I did asked a few questions at the end, about the company, team and his vision for the team, and he did answered my questions in detail, and not vaguely answered. He also said he will reach out to the recruiter for next step, so i dont know what to think at this point.

I had a interview Saturday morning. I got there about 10 min early for my interview and she took me right away and it was supposed to be 30 min but it went a little over 40. Very smily and laughing throughout the interview. Very engaging. Towards the end told me the pay rate and asked if I was okay with it. Then began to tell me what the next steps would be after being hired. Broke down the growth ladder and how to grow within the company as well

I had an interview for a 3 month contract two weeks ago. The recruiter for the client ask for 2 referees to conduct reference checks with I provided two previous managers. The recruiter contact one of my referees. And that referee told me that he gave a glowing reference. My referee also told me the recruiter mentioned I would be a good fit for the role and that is why they are conducting reference checks and mentioned from the reference check it sounded like a job offer was looming. However the recruiter provided a quick update early this week to inform me that the company is expecting to provide them an answer before Friday. It is Friday afternoon now and no update. I am not sure if will get the offer or not now since its been more than a week and a bit since the recruiter conducted reference checks.

I disagree about the internal candidate - if they know the person so well, then just promote them, why put others through a system of bullshit, wasting time, effort and candidates money eg: travel, interview outfit, time off..... it's because companies don't give a stuff about people anymore. There is nothing good to come from this behaviour, but I guess companies will continue to treat people like crap. The disorganisation within companies, now that I do believe lol! No 7 - is probably the No 1 reason for recruitment screw ups ever. Companies never know what they want - the very reason for probationary periods and quick fires.

Its industry specific. Its also subjective. Over my 35 year career, the longest was 6 years. Average is 2.5 years. I have never worked for a company that has not been bought, sold, acquired, merged or otherwise went bankrupt. I have been laid off, downsized, always been at-will employed. Quite ridiculous when I came from one of the most loyal generations. Company's have no loyalty on average since 1990. Period.

Not going on LinkedIn to patronize strangers trying to befriend them and being fake just to network and land a job. Most people don’t want to be bothered and they rather help their immediate friends/people they know first anyway. I don’t recommend proactively reaching out to recruiters, lots of fake job postings, lots of scam Indian tech recruiters resume harvesting etc. Now is the time to update your skillsets, get certifications, go back to school etc..jobs will come back again, it’s a matter of time.

Each rejection burns 🔥a candidate! Therefore starting a recruitment process to just select the internal candidate or none comes at a hefty price! I have been ghosted so many times I have started recording all of my interviews and posted them for all to see. Just recently, the city of Turlock, CA, experienced complete turnover in their building department. I interviewed for their chief building official position a year ago. I never heard back after my in person interview. When I interviewed with them earlier this week for a different position, I was asked why I did not apply for the Chief Building official position. I reminded the city manager that no one got back to me.

For my job, they delegate the outreach for scheduling interviews is delegated to one person, but then the interview needs to have 4 to 5 people on it from different departments and they all have busy schedules that aren't up to date, which takes scheduling awhile. Plus, applicants never answer the initial phone call so then it's a bunch of emailing just to set a date. Then after the interview we wait on them to send their follow-up salary ask and references, but since we don't post a range (hopefully they will change that soon) people are frequently asking above what we can do. But at that point the decision is out of my hands, and the person who is supposed to reach out and negotiate or decline is overworked and either forgets or ghosts and then i get bombarded by everyone asking for updates when i dont have any idea 😅 so yeah, very unorganized

Take a look at the job postings they put out there alot of tike the job requirements make zero sense, im a structural engineer and i laugh at thier requirements often. Companies also engage in resume farming or they want to "have a roster of candidates" stop wasting peoples time. And HR are often the gossipy of all departments

In my humble experience, hiring is the least structured process in all of HR... and HR is one of the least structured and most unproductive areas in most companies. So while there might be lots of different individual reasons why a candidate's application got stuck - it's always a red flag when it does and should be a warning to a candidate to move on to further applications with other companies - because once the process is that flawed, it's highly unlikely that anything good will ever come out of it. The worst possible result (even worse than outright rejection) is a job just as rotten as the recruiting involved - meaning you'll have to go through the same dance after a temporary stay with that company...yikes!
