living with the inner voice
"And maybe that's what it's really about - not achieving some perfect inner monologue, but building a different kind of relationship with ourselves. One quiet moment, one gentle thought, one kind word at a time. Because that voice? It's not just passing thoughts. It's the soundtrack we live our lives to. And maybe it's worth making it a little softer, a little kinder, a little more like home."

on doing things that serve no purpose
Переглядів 1,1 тис.14 днів тому
In a world obsessed with productivity, sometimes the most meaningful moments are the ones that serve no purpose at all. From handmade noodles to clay whales, from counting stars to chasing butterflies - this is about finding joy in the things we can't measure. A reminder that not everything needs to have a point. Sometimes, being "useless" is exactly what our souls need. Inspired by the Chinese...

So beautifully said! Completely resonated with the stuff you said here :-). This was such a gem!
Awww, thank you so much!
I agree completely with the premise of your video - I always feel like I am wasting time because there are “more important” things to do even when resting, but I feel your examples are not good. Making dumplings or noodles by hand is not “useless” compared to buying them - it is better. It is healthier, it’s learning a skill, taking care of yourself and your family, transferring tradition and knowledge and making something special maybe for your kids (homemade food, even when it doesn’t turn out perfect, somehow tastes better. So you can’t call it useless, just less efficient than buying it at the store. Useless would maybe be watching the same movie for the fourth time. Lying on the beach on vacation and just thinking and daydreaming of things that will never happen when maybe you could be reading a book, or having a beautifully written grocery list in your bullet journal when it’s simply “better” to have it typed in your phone. I don’t know where I am going with this 😂 but that’s just something that bugged me while listening, though the whole topic is very deep and important to think about 🙏🏻
Thank you for sharing your perspective! What you said about my examples gave me things to think about, particularly about the definition of "useless". I can completely relate with the writing grocery list in bullet journal example though, especially now that I am back to journalling everyday, it just puts me in a good mood to use my journals and enjoy the feeling of pen on paper 🥰
I love this! Thank you for sharing ❤
your video popped up on my feed and i’m glad i clicked on it. this video was so lovely and thank you for the beautiful and meaningful message!
Thank you for your kind words! ♥️
Wonderful video and thoughts. I can feel all the different perspectives you talked about. And I think it is intimate to invest time, thought and work into a present, a letter, a meal. Intimate through the body senses beeing involved, through the time spend in connection with something or the thougt about someone. Inimate becouse it's a process where we see the chance of a dough, though a noodle ist so much more than a noodle.
Thank you! More and more I find time to be the most valuable gift that can be given, so I'm always touched to receive and motivated to give the gift of time (home-cooked meal, handmade present, or chats just to catch up). They are the memories that stay with me for years and decades!
At first, I was horrified that you took apart a good notebook because I get attached to notebooks easily. But your own design looks really nice and more organised than I could ever make with my existing notebooks. Also, happy new year! I'm glad I got to discover someone with such calming content last year
I was also very nervous when I first considered the idea for very similar reasons (still having two other brand new ones helped with the persuasion) 🤣 Happy New Year to you too! Happy to hear you find the content calming--I really enjoyed the entire process, but wasn't sure if the voiceover and the pace of the video delivered that :)
At least seven words for the algorithm 🙏
This phone wallpaper is so pretty. And I didn't know, there are vases with branches from LEGO. Missed your voice.
I love hearing your thoughts unfold and watching your drawings unfold. Just the time lapse brings some kind of hectic into this process. Thank you for taking me with you to this journey.
Messy is synonymous with life 🙏🏼
Your experience with social situations explains so much about me as well. I used to feel left out even in my friend groups if we were with more than a few people because I felt like I couldn't contribute to the conversation and thus I'd just stay quiet. I always thought it was something to do with me, but I recently made new friends that I can have conversations with with ease. I'm sure it also plays a role that I have grown a bit more confident, but you made me realise that it probably also makes a big difference that I now surround myself with people that are like me and also value having those deep conversations about our shared experiences. So with my previous friends, I tried to fit in but didn't really belong, while with my current friends I know I belong and don't even feel a need to try to fit in because I know the others accept me for who I am
Thank you for sharing your experience! It's such a wonderful feeling knowing we can just be who we are and still belong ❤️
Don't think you are the only one. Carry on expressing and being yourself
Thank you. Hearing that explains why I resonate so much with your channel. For me, there is a term called "highly sensitive." The popsicle fooled me. I thought it was a video effect, but it's a super cool drawing of yours.
Honestly, I still feel lost in art community, doubting my skills and can't decide my further path. It is hard and I really appreciate your insights on this topic. Thank you!
The bowl is the cutest ❤😊
Thank you for your beautiful video.❤
You’re my new favourite creator here on UA-cam! It surprised me how underrated your channel is because your content is amazing. You got me inspired to start digital drawing and make it a hobby after many years of not believing in my creativity and drawing skills. You also inspired me to start my UA-cam channel someday. Keep going! 🤍
Thank you for your lovely message! I hope to see your creation someday! ❤️
I’m in a very similar place in my art journey. Maybe it’s cliche but it really does feel like “how did you get in my brain and make this video about me”? 😂 I spent years telling myself I was bad at art because mine didn’t look like that of people I admired, my friends, or what was in museums because “it’s good enough.” Only in the past few months have I been able to break from that mindset and just create things I like because I want to, and it’s been really freeing and fun! I still catch myself judging what I make and comparing it to others, but I’m getting better at that. Your videos are so calming and well made. You can tell you put a lot of thought into them! The internet just doesn’t do a good job of evenly distributing what it recommends to people, you deserve mores views❤ Keep going! You’re doing a wonderful job!!
Thank you very much for your encouragement! I'm happy to hear that you are also breaking from that mindset--it's a lot of hard work to do that and sometimes even harder to keep the mindset away! I hope you continue to be successful with making art that makes you happy, I will be cheering for you! ❤️
Thank you for the beautiful pictures and your openness on this personal topic. I am also discovering my own form of creativity. For example not figurative painting, but doodling. It is so important and healthy to find ways to express yourself and your personality. And to love what you create - because it is a part of you. Have a wonderful day, dear Spark.
Thank you for your beautiful message! Doodling is also something I want to do more of... it just feels so freeing! I hope you also have a wonderful day, and that you are having fun with doodling! 🥰
Hi spark 😊 firstly I'm so sorry the people in your life crushed your creativity like that, I get where it comes from to an extent (cultural norms and whatnot) but it's still awful to do that to a child and you didn't deserve that. I'm so conscientious about encouraging my kids' creativity in whatever they try, whether it's scribbles of colour or my eldest making things out of cardboard or starting to learn how to embroider (which is my personal creative passion, in fact I'm doing it while watching your video) I hope you can be the encouraging parent to yourself now you've discovered that art, truly, is about expression and emotion. Skill is something worth cultivating, but creation without emotion is missing the point in my opinion. Keep it up, little spark!
Thank you so much for taking the time to write these kind words, my heart feels so warm ❤️ It's wonderful to hear you are so loving and encouraging toward your kids' creativity! What you said about "be the encouraging parent" to myself is a meaningful concept and sentiment that I will be thinking about and reflecting on often. Thank you again ❤️❤️
Hi
I love your indoor plants! May you please create a video about the indoor plants you have and how you take care of them? I'm trying to figure out which indoor plants I can adopt into my place for a much more homey feeling. Thank you!
Very cool video! What do you use to create these animations ?
Thank you! I used Procreate for the hand-drawn ones and Canva for the others :)
Good idea to combine/supplement the online course with an AI tool. I still use AI very rarely. Most of the time I don't even think about this possibility.
❤
How do you make the questions you use to reach your goals?
I first determine the feeling I want to focus on and then go through 5Ws (what, where, who, when, why) and 1H (how) and see which question(s) I want to use. For example, for "happy", the questions could be "What activities or hobbies make me smile every time?" "When was the last time I felt genuinely happy, and what was I doing?" "Who are the people in my life that I feel most joyful around?" "How can I incorporate more laughter into my daily routine?" "Where do I usually go when I need to cheer up?" I hope this is helpful!
i really like this and will give this a go. one comment tho, for my usecase definitely, is to not forget about the things you actually have to do I have deadlines to reach, and while the video is more of a vlog to me (more on creative life showing than info sharing) and doesn't really give me any solid advice on how to be "productive" or still keep up with life's demands I will try planning using the "to feel" rather than "todo". I think it would really help! (w some self-regulation on my end, bc I barely have enough wiggle time 😅)
Is your mbti ISFP/ISTP? You're really similar to me! (I'm an ISTP) I related well to you.
You are very close! I'm ISFJ :)
This... This might be a game changer! Thank you for sharing this method/idea! Most productivity hacks don't work for me cus they all insist on discipline and forming habits, but I have ADHD and autism, so trying to force myself to do stuff when literally everything I do in life takes up a decent wad of energy actually ends up being really painful and ends up to me getting burnt out :( I'm at a point in life where I know I have enough knowledge to try and optimise my life a bit more, but putting it into effect is really difficult, but this model might could be a missing piece. I'll give this a go and hopefully be back to share my own findings :)
Thank you for sharing your experience! I hope this method can help you! 🥰
Thank you, this is super informative! 6:05 I've really wanted to get into a similar habit.

Hi! I just found Your channel few days ago and I'm in love with Your style - simple, beautiful, calming. Backward planning made me really rethink my planning system, although I was already quite happy with it. Could You add titles of the songs You're using in the soundtrack? They complement the mood beautifully and I wolud be delighted to include some in my journaling playlist, although I can't event recognize the language (also english is my seconda language, a little rusty since finishing formal education). My request straddles Your other videos as well. Best wishes;)
Thank you for your kind words! It makes me happy that you enjoyed the videos. Yes, here are the titles of the songs I use in most of my videos (I use different ones based on the mood), and I hope this helps you: I'm gonna let the sunshine in today --- Loving Caliber overture --- dozeoff Special --- Adelyn Paik Sunshine after rain --- Adelyn Paik voice ---Collin Lim All we had was time --Bang Bang
thank you! I'm definitely gonna try this! I'm struggling a lot with stressing myself and trying to do everything, so focussing on how I feel might actually make the difference for me!!
this video trully help me thank you so much
Creativity is something spontaneous. It's a happening. I don't get how many artists and creatives can be creative on demand?
This is such a good video. I have thought about this a lot. Many of us grow up considering only the opinions of others. We think, will this please my parents? Will this please my teachers? Will this save me from peer judgement or keep me out of trouble? We learn to never consider what we want, and depending on how judgmental our environment is, it can become extremely ingrained to not consider ourselves to the point that we struggle to even feel emotions, and it leads to long-term low-grade depression where we struggle to feel anything at all, especially joy from life. Once we grow up, we mostly lose those motivators BUT, since it's the only way we know how to exist, we keep an imaginary judge in our head that we do things for (otherwise we feel lost and adrift). Since it's imaginary, that judge can start to get out of hand because it is driven by anxiety about the "right" way to do things. We need to switch over to doing things for ourselves and our own happiness in life, so we need to very mindfully force ourselves to be more inwardly motivated, and practice it until it becomes second nature. I think this is the perfect way to begin that switch because it has that mindful planner aspect behind it.
Thank you for sharing your thoughts here! I feel deeply moved as I read your message--it quite accurately describes my journey. I especially resonate with the consideration of everyone else's (authority figures and peers etc.) opinions but never our own and the "long-term low-grade depression". I'm also still working on how to practice doing things for myself and turning that into second nature. Thank you again for your thoughtful share ❤️
I have no idea how to spend time on myself yet, but I recently discovered I really should try it. We seem to have similar interests, so I guess watching your videos to feel inspired to try new activities myself is already a good first step :)
Thank you for sharing! It's lovely to hear that we have similar interests :) ❤️
Thanks you! This is the Ultimate Guide to autistic planning. Because shifting from doing to feeling helps to acknowledge, regulate and prioritize intoreception challenges, avoiding burnout, instead of navigating around it. Your 5 questions are so spot on! Since they relate to those stimuli we find energizing and those that drain our ability to focus and perform. Los this video so much!!!
Thank you! I'm so glad to hear that you love this video! ❤️
Great idea 😊 thanks for making this video. I need to ask... which tablet and which apps are you using for your drawing and journaling? 🙃
Thank you! I am using iPad pro (2021), Procreate for drawing, and Prodrafts for taking notes :)
I love the music you’ve used… who is the artist?
Thank you! They are Collin Lim, Adelyn Paik, and dozeoff :)
I love your idea about steaming your food. What is the name of your little steamer? And does it come with recipes to learn how ro use it? I would love to buy one! And thanks so much for your video! I’m definitely going to try this method this week.🌻
Thank you so much! The steamer brand is BUYDEEM, and yes, mine came with a recipe book and it's quite handy :) I hope the method works for you! ❤️
@@heyspark thanks for your response! 💜 I hope you have a good week.🌻
Wat a great concept❤
Thank you! ❤️
What's your app for activities tracking, which was on the main screen of the phone?
If you search "Shanghai xiandi network technology" in the app store (I use iPhone), you should see an app with a yellow background and a hand--it unfortunately does not have an English keyword I can find for easier search.
I like this concept. Gonna try it.
