    When you get a chance, it would be good to do a little pie chart on the demographics of us reservation holders. My res. is in the “Commercial” class and I was surprised to see that this represents less than 5% of the intended use. Of course I could have done this myself and presented it here, but I have my own job. And Drew, anything that occupies you productively and distracts you from your ill-fated Aptera complicity is a good thing, IMO.

    I love this EV truck concept, the market is crying out for compact trucks, rather than yet another Chevy Goliath. I'll ask you guys one question here: Do you have any future plans for a two-seater cab variant, with a longer pickup bed? This would be perfect for small businesses and the 'handyman' demographic. More carrying capacity in the same compact footprint - winner!

    It SEEMS they are making better progress than Aptera. In this short time, they are getting a third party to make a prototype. With that method, they SHOULD be able to build a PI unit sooner, and make the consumer one sooner--as the assembly line and workers are already there and trained.

    Your truck seems like a viable solution the huge truck issue. I am a rancher and I own a ford F250, huge truck! I don't own it to boost my ego. I own it to haul horses, cattle, fencing materials, irrigation materials, feed and hay. Can your truck replace my truck for at least some of these tasks? I don't expect it would be able to tow a horse trailer, but perhaps it is useful in other areas. I really appreciate the efforts you are making with this vehicle! Thank you,

      American pickups are made large for large profits. The sensible era of the Chevy LUV, the ORIGINAL Ford Ranger et al-- are just a memory for an auto industry on the brink of major changes and seek profit over sense and reason. Just think of how fast an Electrick Chevy LUV would sell! But there is no money in an EV for the dealer reapirs gimmick.

      @@harriettanthony7352 I do get a lack of enthusiasm for EV's at dealerships but that's just a few people I've interacted with. I can see how it would be threatening to their business model and I'm not surprised to see push back on EVs as it threatens a lot of other entities as well. I could see how there might be room for profitability on a small EV pickup as there is no competition and I think whoever makes it could charge a premium. Tesla who has a mission of accelerating the transition to sustainable energy comes out late with a pick up that costs 80 to 120 grand. And it's the number one selling pick up already, I mean that's what I've heard. A small pickup for maybe 40-60 grand would seem more useful and affordable for most people. I wonder if Ford and Chevy penciled it out and just decided that it wouldn't be profitable or if they just can't be bothered.

      They're trying for 50k base, which is cheap for a startup's EV and reasonable accross the market if they can deliver on their capabilities. I'm also not a truck driver, but homeownership in a small city with the intention of moving more rural is making it appealing. So far, there doesn't seem to be a major downside for the Telo. Maybe it won't have the same eyewatering numbers of halo vehicles, but it will be able to do every normal people need and do it well for a fair price. Let's hope the telo team keeps up the great work!

    Oh so many questions, but I appreciate the right to repair and I hope so bad to have one of these in my driveway for the next 20 years feeling like it's the best decision I made like when I bought my 97 Tacoma. Again like I said before I hope there is little software and more mechanical going on like my Sur Ron electric bike. It would be nice to see how the interface is really going to work and I hope to God that it's something simple as just get in and go like my Sur Ron. The controller I feel should be as simple as if it fries I can just put another in another one without doing a crazy bunch of sh!t like registering it what's my email where did you last live in 10 years. Again as a small truck I don't want automatic windows, automatic doors I want stuff to work mechanically. I don't want to be in the woods trying to sleep inside it to find out my door won't open or if I want to crack the window open because it's stuffy inside. I don't know if this would ever replace my 97 Tacoma, but it sure would be nice to have something very close with paying crazy gas prices and maybe charge it off solar like my Sur Ron. Again please please please make this thing as least software bit as possible you don't even need a radio for it I have a phone I can buy some good boose boombox and be fine. I don't need some stupid other "touchscreen" with its stupid unique UI to understand and will at best only understand about 15% of it that will be instantly outdated next year. Like my Sur Ron I can buy some system if I want to do some crazy mod stuff but drop and play stuff like a Nintendo cartridge would be f@#$ awesome. Did I write enough to get noticed or should I go on?

    I'm wondering about the exposed front wheels. In my state i won't pass inspection if my wheels extend beyond the fenders. This is a safety issue because if the front of my tire (moving down as the wheel spins) contacts the rear of somebody else's (moving up) that leads to an abrupt upward force on the side of my car - not good. Having my wheels tucked away under fenders and bumpers prevents this wheel-to-wheel contact. Is this a concern for Telo's design? Those downward-moving front wheel surfaces are pretty exposed

    You mentioned head-on collisions aren't as prevalent as rear-end collisions but the car rear-ending the car in front of it is having a head-on collision of sorts. I know Telo will design the truck so all areas are as safe as possible. It will take me some time getting used to not having a large ICE engine/front compartment but will be happy when I'm not guessing where the front of my truck actually is before I run into something. As for right-to-repair, I have some issues with that because sometimes it's better to make a component that is stronger by not making it repairable than making it with fixable components that might not be as strong. Apple keeps getting hammered for not making their phones easily repairable but I feel the way they've designed and manufactured their phones allows them to not break so easily and be more compact than some phones that you can easily take apart. Water, dirt, etc., issues Apple phones generally don't have. I'm also a little worried about using generic parts in the Telo. I've had cars since 1973 or so and have been able to repair them up until the days of computers and over-built components. An EV might look simpler than the cluster-fu** of crazy ICE engines and support components but an EV still has many critical pieces of electronics and hardware that need to be made properly. There's a ton of garbage replacement parts for ICE vehicles and I'm hoping Telo will at least find component suppliers that make parts that actually last instead of parts that last only a few thousand miles (planned obsolescence).

    • @AverageJoe928
      @AverageJoe928 8 днів тому

      There have been multiple class action lawsuits against Apple for knowingly allowing faulty designs in their iPhones that have resulted in excessively high failure rates, coupled with the inability for third party repair. I'd argue that requiring a design to have limited repairability for "robustness" is a sign of sloppy engineering. Couple that with the fact that vehicles are used in challenging environments with many high-wear components, and I'd frankly be put off if a startup didn't embrace R2R and maximizing COTS parts. Fisker raised billions yet their vehicles will soon become paperweights due to having so many proprietary parts that can no longer be sourced.
