Perfume talk. Also a sports fanatic. I’ve been into perfumes for 18-19 years and all my bottles are the result of that and bought throughout the years. I’m doing this channel just for fun and to share my passion for fragrances and show what I enjoy and like to wear.
We don’t talk about performance, beast mode, compliments, or ”niche quality” here. Those things don’t matter to me. In the end it’s all just perfume and there’s more important things in life than fragrances. But I welcome here everyone who shares the passion or interest to the beauty of perfume.
I don’t edit my videos so they are as they are and english is not my native language so there might be some mistakes and errors here and there but that’s what makes us human and also talking about perfumes doesn’t have to be perfect or so polished always. Thanks for joining!

I have never owned it but loved the smell . A friend of mine she wore the female version and that stuff smelled so intoxicating and lasted forever.
Arabie in summer… fantastic
@@travisr82 It’s actually the middle of the winter here but I think in the summer it could work too
Hey Timo ! Arabie has not been discontinued, you can still get it on the « flacons de table » collection. I think they are 75ml if I remember correctly .. I’m originally from Morocco, and it does smell very spicy souk or grandma’s kitchen to me, but I like it a lot. Great rotation 👌🏽.
Solid choices!
@@mohamedsow8935 thank you!
Great list ! Thank you for sharing !
@@chris.p88 my pleasure! Thanks for stopping by!
The animalic facet in Nicolai Newyork Intense is the civet and castoreum notes
@@vikhelboy4184 Yes I remember it at least having civet and it makes the perfect sense. I think the animalic elements works really well in it
Nice selection sir.
@@rossmcfarlane6687 I appreciate it, thank you 🙏
@tinkeviitanen subscribed!
@ that’s very kind thank you!
Fabulous week 😍 Was Opium PH in EdP concentration discontinued? So hard to find nowadays. I still love my EdT one though.
@@eauceylon1891 thank you my friend! Yes sadly the Edp has been discontinued and it really is difficult to find it without paying too much of it. But the Edt is truly amazing too 👌
Great to see your regular vids Timo, and nice to see a full weekly line up. So hard to find an Opium edp on ebay, and if you do its well in to the 3 figure range
@@Steve_D1974 Thank you Steve! Yes it is very difficult to find them. I found my Edp from Parfumo and it was much more tolerable investment than from Ebay 😀
Quite a lush selection there! For me this week was a day of Opium Pour Homme edp, after your last video, plus 3 days of Grès Cabochard (vintage parfum), 1 day of Chanel No. 5 Eau de Cologne, a late 70's bottle, and a couple of days of Aramis 900. I've still got an old tester of New York Intense, I really should smell it again - there's a lot going on in that scent.
@@samgrant83 thanks! Your week sounds wonderful! That Aramis 900 is a beauty and great take on rose. I like the earthy quality of it as a perfume. New York Intense has definitely a lot going on
@@tinkeviitanen Was very Bernard Chant heavy - it's always worth getting Aromatics Elixir, which is really very close to 900, a great rose chypre. The standard Aramis is essentially Cabochard with a few extra spices.
@ Yeah I’ve also understood that they are very much similar.
French lover is a disaster. Amazing scent but poor performance and it’s been watered down . The price didn’t change though.
@@dimitriorlov4542 It could be stronger yes I agree. On me it does work well enough though so I guess I can consider myself somewhat lucky
The new batches are really bad.. also have you tried Fièvre Verte by Kilian ?
@ yeah I’ve heard so unfortunately. I actually haven’t tried that Kilian yet
I like leather fragrances, but not necessarily love them... I will say 2 you oughta get your nose on is Hermès Bel Ami (one of the most authentic leather designer frags I've ever smelled) and Fend Uomo (a fantastic vintage leather frag). Both are from the 1980's
@@larrythompkins3319 I’ve actually had them both before and they are great! Have you tried the 1980’s Trussardi Uomo? I would suggest you to try it if you like those two, as it falls in to that style brilliantly in my opinon.
@tinkeviitanen I'll be on the lookout for that one. Thanks for the recommendation 😎
Hi all. Love this scent. Reminds me of the brown honey from the Caucasian mountains that my grand father used to give use as «medicine ». Good memories. My another favs from the house : Equistrius. Tabac tabou. Cuir otttoman. Ambre russe.
@@JeanPhilippe-sz2zo What a great house this is indeed. That sounds like a wonderful scent memory!
Atm one of the favorites has been Ferragamo Bright leather. Calming, fresh, clean and great for the price. It gives me a noticeable Läkerol Salvi pastille smell. If you know, you know 😅
@@paav Oh really? That sounds nice! Salvi happens to be my favorite Läkerol flavour 😀👌
New subscriber here. I'm definitely with you on Escada Pour Homme. I have 2 × half bottle 2.5's & 1 sealed 4.2 + bodywash, aftershave and deodorant. I love that orange spice boozy cognac! Chris from Scentland influenced me to buy this in one of his earlier vids. Saw it was discontinued 8 years ago and stocked up. Prada L'Homme Intense is still my favorite from that house, but Prada Amber Intense is solid, and the most unique Prada I've smelled. If you like Prada Amber Intense, Escada PH, Lalique PH and Amouage Jubilation 25, I highly recommend Zaharoff Signature Pour Homme if you haven't already tried it. Thier are elements of all 4 in ZSPH.
@@larrythompkins3319 I appreciate the subscribe thank you! Oh yes Chris is very cool and has a great taste 👍 Prada does have actually quite many good ones in my opinion. And I’ve tried Zaharoff Signature Pour Homme couple times when it came out so it’s been a long time now. But I enjoyed it and I could definitely see myself owning a bottle if it would be easier to get delivered here to where I live 😀
Nice. I've heard Floris Santal Intense had many positive reviews on Fragantica but mostly complained about its performance. Have you tried it? I think it is interesting.
@@An-lj4up Unfortunately I haven’t tried that one. I had some very old vintage fragrance from Floris that was just called Sandalwood but it was a different one. Very nice too though
@@tinkeviitanen The Santal Intense has been released since 2024., I saw someone say it remind them of Envy or Eau Sauvage Parfum.

I’ve recently gotten it off of eBay but I’m not 100% sure it’s real can I send you pictures to get your opinion?
Great list! I love Antaeus and Tom of Finland, alos Knize Ten and Testa di Moro. I'll add Tuscan Leather and BelAmi
@@SquallMonteZ Glad to hear thank you! Yes I truly enjoy all of those a lot as well. Bel Ami never goes out of style
Have you tried Ganymede (the normal version, not the extrait) by Marc Antoine Barrois? Leather newly interpreted. Fresh, always wearable, elegant, but modern. I love it. It's my go to.
@@edelkebap Oh yes I had a bottle of it quite early when it came out. It’s been now few years since I’ve smelled it but I liked the quite unique mineralic-leather aspect that worked really well as it had a lot of freshness to it as well.
I often have problems recognising leather note in fragrances. The only perfume fragrance where I can really smell a photo realistic leather is Bottega Venetta pour homme edt. I love the smell of HdP 1740, but I get more the woody smokey aspect and something animalic at the start perhaps the leather note.
@@PakoBar2717 I sometimes struggle trying to understand if it’s a leather or more like suede in some perfumes😁 But yeah the whole Bottega Veneta Pour Homme is really good in my opinion and they all have that great leather aspect in them (except Essence Aromatique).
Hey Timo, leather is my second fav scent accord after amber. My fav leathers include Cuir de Russie by Chanel, Bel Ami, Noble Leather by YSL and Ombre Leather.
@@Alwayscented Hello there! Great choices and I like that you especially mentioned Noble Leather as it doesn’t get mentioned much. I had a bottle of it like a year ago and it was really elegant take on what I remember being like a great mix of especially saffron and leather and had some bit sweeter element to it which worked really well
@tinkeviitanen I think it's one of the best leathers out there. It is a shame it was discontinued.
That's a classic list there - I know all except the Ferragamo and have or have had most of them (I'd take Tuscan Leather over F'n Fab though). Leather-based scents are my favourites - I'll offer up my 8 (I couldn't quite do it in seven). I'll go with you on Antaeus and Knize Ten, both of those heavy on rose/carnation/animalics are among the very best ever, for the Spanish leather style both Hermès Bel Ami and Santa Maria Novella Peau d'Espagne, for the green chypre leather Robert Piguet Bandit/Bandit Suprême and Grès Cabochard (the current reformulation is suprisingly good and cheap too) and for the truly dirty/sexy leather the original '74 Ted Lapidus Pour Homme and Homo Elegans Quality of Flesh.
@@samgrant83 Glad you liked the list thanks! I’ve always liked Tuscan Leather and had it few times but always in the end ended up selling it as I rarely felt like wanting to wear it for some reason. I think Piguet as a house doesn’t get enough recognition and Bandit is one I’ve never tried from them so I’m curious to check it out. Thank you for the other mentioned ones as well!
Great list! Quite a few blind spots for me, but of these I have tried and really enjoyed 1740 and Antaeus happens to be my SOTD
@@rubikscubed731 So many great leathers out there to explore. I just few days ago wore Antaeus and it just always delivers. Such a great one!
any perfume that smells like weed?
@@remotemanagement4686 I’m sure there are some like that out there but from these none does
Bentley for Men Absolute is the cheap alternative (same perfumer, almost the same notes but more synthetic), or even better is Papyrus Oud from Parle moi de parfums, which is effectively the original concept version of Gucci Pour Homme that Michel Almairac made before Tom Ford made a couple of tweaks to the final form. I've worn Papyrus Oud a few times from a couple of testers - very classy, woody/incense warm fragrance. The church scent must be the frankicense which gives it that smokiness. Any oud in it must be a synthetic, definitely not a real one, as it's not noticeable. You'll be spending a lot for an original bottle of GPH these days!
@@samgrant83 It’s been many years since I tried the Papyrus Oud but I remember really liking it. Bentley was also quite good. Yes the prices of Gucci PH are bit absurd and to me not justified. I actually still have this bottle as I just mostly want to be able to smell it from time to time and remind myself of the smell of it
I'm glad I got an original 1995 bottle of the vintage edp a few years ago now. It only makes a rare appearance, these days. It seems to have lost none of its power when I sprayed it again just now. It's beautifully composed with an intoxicating aura of plushness and spiciness, rather like the original women's Opium, but the heady balsam/vanilla can be quite a shock as this style of men's perfumery is not so in vogue recently. I think the current EDT is probably very toned down, but the old EDP is a scent for the evening only, and you are likely to overpower your companion (and many others around) if you aren't too careful with the sprayer!
@@samgrant83 Oh yes the old edp’s haven’t lost any of their magic in my opinion. Nowadays I only have 3x10ml travel sprays of this and the more recent formulation of the edp in the crystal clear bottle. Pour Homme Edt is really watery and thin nowadays so definitely the older bottles of that much better in my opinion.
Escada is very special!
@@tolis287 Glad to hear! To me as well!
Always prefer the slightly fresher EDT version to the EDP for the daytime, but sometimes for personal wear in the evening I'd rather just splash on some Shalimar and be done with it. Agree that you always feel smart and well dressed when wearing this.
My office scent rotation probably started with Eau Sauvage, then Egoiste, later Penhaligon's English Fern, then Santa Maria Novella Vetiver and Malle's French Lover and Vetiver Extraordinaire. I liked your selection - I think Equipage, Equipage Geranium are perfect, and no one can really criticise Pour Monsieur. The Canali is one of Pierre Bourdon's precursor's of Aventus - why not try Brossaeu's Thé Brun, also by Bourdon, for another modern fougère with pineapple, as good as any of the Creed fragrances he made, and very office suitable.
@@samgrant83 You mentioned some really great ones in your selection. Penhaligon’s has many that I consider very nice for the office type of environment. Yes Canali is Bourdon’s work and I really like that one. More than Aventus actually 😁 also thank you for the recommendation, I’ll try to check it out!
@@tinkeviitanen I've smelled the Canali a couple of times a while ago, but I do have a bottle of the Thé Brun. Prefer both to Aventus, and while Bourdon isn't the signed perfumer on Aventus and it is the work of his protégé it's pretty clear he had some influence (more than Olivier Creed!!).
Another one that I had and then sold. It's certainly beautiful but it never captured my heart enough in the end, maybe it's rather a polite British version of oud that won't announce your presence 30 seconds before you enter the room. It's slightly in the Spanish Leather style and I prefer Santa Maria Novella Peau d'Espagne for that overall. I don't often go for oud and could never really wear it in the office or meetings, but when I do I like the ones with the real oud which the synthetics never quite capturere. Thirty Three from Ex Idolo is my go to Oud, but one spray is enough!
@@samgrant83 I actually never thought I would buy this and especially as it was only sold in 100ml bottles before. But last year it totally clicked with me and I knew I had to get a bottle. It’s interesting how the taste changes or you suddenly start to appreciate something you didn’t like at first. I’m very curious of that Santa Maria Novella one as it’s also a house I have no experience with but people I ”trust” seem to like their offerings so I’m sure I would enjoy exploring them
@@tinkeviitanen Glad you like it, in the end it probably didn't stand out enough against other things in my collection. I would say the style of perfumery from SMN is closer to the Floris and other English perfumers style, slightly simpler scent structures, can be quite bold, often very focused on one note, like their Patchouli, but not so plush like a Guerlain or Chanel.
What a sumptious list. Love 1740, I've got an old bottle of it. I personally prefer the standard Bel Ami to the Vetiver version. Heritage is lovely, but my brother wears it all the time, so I've left it to him and my sister wears Coromandel, so again, I've left that to her. Knize Ten is without compare, a throw back to classic perfumery. I've never got on with Kouros on my skin, and I can remember when it first came out with the really skanky formula; it was always Antaeus for me. My addition would be an old bottle of No. 5 Eau de Cologne - which is totally unisex with very dialled down florals, and one of the greatest drydowns.
@@samgrant83 thanks! I actually agree that Antaeus is my preferred one too vs. Kouros especially as I’ve now worn Antaeus actually much much more and my god it’s nice. Even in it’s more ”current” version in my opinion. I’ve heard many good things about the older No.5 but I sadly haven’t tried it never. I think 🤔
@@tinkeviitanen I'd rather get a modern bottle of Antaeus than worry about old bottles, even if it isn't quite as animalic. No. 5 EDC doesn't rely on so many citrus notes, so can survive well, there a loads of 70's and 80's unsealed bottles around. It's so close to the original conception of No. 5 that its worth a smell, the modern versions are just far too floral and sweet.
You inspired me talking about Egoiste, think I'll wear in today 👍
@@steveb8269 Egoiste is always a great choice!
Hi Timo. Very helpful video. Thanks. Prada Amber Pour Homme Intense is one of my favorites as well. Have a great day.
@@henrythornton7931 Prada is great! thank you for watching and I wish you a great day too
This is an awesome scent from a great old house--I love it!
@@ericmiller2556 very nice to hear! I love Floris as a house and this fragrance a lot as well
@@tinkeviitanen My review: Leather Oud is a perfect gateway oud, in my opinion---it has all of the secure, comforting aspects of a traditional fragrance, -in this case a beautiful, classic leather note as well as other mainstays of masculine perfumery, such as vetiver and carnation- and uses it as the launch pad for an oud that is pure and deep. The first thing you notice is the expensive leather---not too long from being in the tannery and workroom--and then on to the deep, oily darkness of the Oud, underscored by the vetiver, amber and patchouli. The floral notes of carnation and geranium are so subtle that they play a true supporting role; as the name asserts, this is all about leather and oud. Gentlemanly enough to stroll down Jermyn Street, Leather Oud also has the dark and oily glow, edged with a dirty humanity that oud is so famous for. This boy may be wearing a bespoke suit and polished bench-made shoes, but there is some funk going on here. This is for the enfant terrible of St. James, the punk rocker of Savile Row who goes commando in his custom tailored suit. And is it just for the boys? I think so-it has too much of a well-bred testosterone note to be anything other than masculine. That said, on a woman with a taste for pinstripes this could be head turning.

I guess I should re-test this entire line - I had two bottles of the very original Ombré Leather 16, which was the first limited release before it was reformulated as Ombré Leather. @ no it’s not , gotta have a back up bottle for me
@ Good plan!
I've got one of the very original bottles - it's in a cupboard, I must bring it out for when spring returns - I agree it doesn't quite live up to its original name in many ways, it's rather tame, more an impressionistic leather. A much dirtier modern/sexy leather scent is A Quality of Flesh by Homoelegans/Gini - that could be badged Tom of Finland. It's sex, cigarettes, warm skin, oil paint, and more sex.
@@samgrant83 That’s interesting as I haven’t actually never heard of this A Quality Of Flesh fragrance. It does sound interesting based on your description. Thanks for the comment and bringing that fragrance to my attention
I appreciate your reviews. In yesterday's Etat Libre D’Orange fragrance review you seemed to want to distance your self somewhat from the “cult” surrounding that scent, formerly known as Tom of Finland, now rebadged as Clean Suede. It is the cult of a harmless, tongue in cheek, over the top, cartoonesk depiction of men appreciating men. Think Querelle, Jean Genet. It is a commodified part of today’s (pop) culture. You can get a coffee mug or bag with T of F art on it in any museum shop. Persolaise Perfumes gave his take on this perfume, he is a straight male, and he didn’t spend a part of his review apologizing for “well google it … scary...all that kind of stuff…” Making statements like that takes away from your professionalism in reviewing, in my opinion. It is unnecessarily distracting from the content. In this day and age no man should have to feel the urge to publicly distance him self from a possible unwanted association with “gay”, regardless of his sexual identity. I mean, seriously, who cares. That being said, Tom of Finland would have approved of your attire ;)
@@thatman-t8f thank you for an honest feedback and I do appreciate that. I did want to be careful with my words in that video and I do consider that I only commented about the art part. And the art is not something I consider as ”my thing” so I just wanted to give my thoughts how it connects with the actual perfume or at least how it feels to me when I wear it. But I understand your point and thank you for letting me know about it :)
@@tinkeviitanen You are totally right in that respect: it is cartoonesk but, indeed, also objectifying, a stereotyping “pin up” style, “artistic” but not necessarily stylish or tasteful. And in that sense you are 100% entitled to distance your self from it. I may have misinterpreted “sexual identity” and “it is simply not my taste”. Apologies if I did. Anyway: your reviews are clear, to the point, you know how to convey the character of a perfume in a comprehensive story, free of hypes. And, weirdly maybe, I would love to hear your take on the new Trussardi release, Primo? I think it would kind of fit your bill.
@@thatman-t8f Thank you and I do apologize too as sometimes I might not be clear enough with my outcome using a language that’s not my main one. I actually haven’t tried Primo yet as I think it’s not at least yet being sold in any stores here. I will give it a go if I cross ways with it somewhere 🙏
