How to put a Single Bevel on a Tusker Concord Broadhead.
Переглядів 865Рік тому
Short video of the method I use to put a single bevel edge on a Tusker Concord broadhead. Using a double cut mill file, the factor double bevel can be removed and set at a single bevel for the enhanced penetration capabilities this style of head offers. Tuskers are an Australian made broadhead that ha e been around for decades.

It's a good one to pop on and listen to more like a podcast. We just wanted to make a video of how we got our place and also things to take into consideration when planning your new journey. We did a lot of research when we were looking and planning, but there was a bit we didn't think about. If you're embarking on this journey, hopefully, this gives you a great idea on how to pursue your new l...

WE HAVE A BEDROOM! It's hard to believe this was a deck only a few weeks ago. We sold our house last July and stayed with the in-laws for a bit before 5 of us were sleeping in a 6ft shipping container home for a month! I'm beyond excited to have our own space (not including the tiny human that pulls hair while we sleep). I'm so stoked, and this has been a huge load off my mental health... just ...

Great short 👍👏 Love bub sitting in his highchair supervising Dad. What a great Dad 🏆🏆🏆 What type of trees are they? I lost some of my smaller Red Stringybark in a huge fire in Jan 2014. Most were showing new green shoots and leaves within 7-10 days. The thick stringybark protected and insulated them from the fire, only losing small branches, twigs and leaves. I lost a couple of MONSTER Yellowbox (nearly 3m across, not around but across the middle side to side!) and some Redgum too. Nothing wrong with the trees, only singed leaves BUT a fireball in the rootball dropped them. So sad for these old giants. Ironically, a patch of about 25 acres with thousands of wattle trees, didn't get touched at all, around it, but not that area. That was when I learnt that some wattle trees are fire-retardent! Learn something new every day 👍 Some are also nitrogen fixers. The fire burnt within 2-4m all around the neighbours house, the Firies did well to save it. Mind you, most of the surrounding properties, were Pine plantations of 1000's of acres in multiple directions interspersed with scrub bush. That bush property is 95% 4WD and plenty of scrub, all hills. Sorry for waffling on, love the vid, good luck with it all.. Have a great day from Southern NSW 🇭🇲🦘🙏🦘🇭🇲
Going remote is not easy by a long shot
It's a trip . . had a hair up my arse NT to make bows out of native timbers on the 400 acre block 13 yrs . . found the true black meat eventual in the guise of a hardwood the quinine tree . . the original bark of which Malaria medicine was made . . amazing elastic hardwood but a brush tree so only one bow per tree . . wear safety glasses testing woods for bows . . had strikes back broken bows just above & below aiming eye bad gash . . Sun Tzu , weapons are objects of ill omen
Fine grade stainless steel cable makes excellent bow string . . easy to splice . . it ruptures bows just rubbish
Hey ally I've got a non lethal way to sort out your possum problem. 1st a cage 2 a blanket 3 raisins 4 A bottle of rum soke the raisins in rum in a bowl .put it outside. I forgot some water after soaking. Then look if been eaten then look for a drunk possum and relocate
Are you guys no longer doing the off grid buzz?
Wow very brave but it is looking great ❤
Nice sharing..🎉
I wouldn't worry about the red-bellied blacks, they are generally polite and non-aggressive - and should keep away more aggro snakes like the tigers. But yes, teach the kids to be snake aware. Also likely to be redbacks under every sheet of tin or wood. For gardening/reno (apart from urgent reno), take time to plan things out - ideas will change over time. And for gardening, you need to experience at least 1-2 full seasons before committing to garden bed locations (you will need several locations, full sun, filtered sun, wind protected, frost protected, etc). Gardening you will need to also protect from birds (fruiting plants), rats and mice (who climb rather well), slugs and snails, and possums etc. Most of my losses are from other critters getting there first.
You know I was going to subscribe BUT don’t need to hear the music would rather get ideas from what you say
👍💪👌
How much was the mod house? I’m looking for a granny flat would it be suitable?
Nice build man cool bow 😎👍🔥💯🏹
Attach a old car battery too the garden fench it will stop the possums just enough volts but won't kill them
Whereabouts did you find the block please?
What regon and state are you in? subscribed and liked.
BTW growing wattle around vegetables is natures in build water "bank" because of the root systems. Not to mention the reciprocal relationship with how they condition the soil. I would never remove wattle, just thin out. Just a thought. Get to know your Aussie natives because the companion plant opportunities are rewarding. Best of luck 🤞❤
Are you concerned at all about bushfires hitting again?
keep the music out of the videos it ruins the videos
I would love to see another progress vid for the last year. I is looking so good already 👏
The loud music makes me have to stop watching
Good stuff guys. We're located near the border ( NSW/ QLD ) close to Giraween. Where are you all at?
Copis logs are highly toxic. Not a good idea to use for yr garden as they will toxify yr food.
as far as chook house to keep the quolls out, a simple 'rat slab' would probably be fine as a foundation. Your soil looks to be mostly sand so you could probably just buy bagged cement and mix it with your native soil (creating cement), and using the chicken wire you have lay a slab with the chicken wire embedded in it for pretty cheap. As far as the veggie patch it looks like you need to 'amend' the soil, may need a few trailer loads of cow/horse manure, and a sprinkler/irrigation as you have very sandy soil it wont hold water without more organics or more frequent watering from the vid (also try avoid using eucalyptus mulch/leaves near ur plants,as the oils are allelopathic and will harm other plants, usually best to rake up and burn off). The nearby creek looks great for running a pump up to a tank for watering etc our farm we have a tank set up at the highest point we pump to and run off.
Don't ever apologise for things looking unfinished or messy! It's a huge amount of work to do what you're doing and you should be proud of yourselves 😊
Cover the WHOLE veggie garden in chicken wire (or fencing preference) babe. No matter how high you make a fence. You won't stop climbers, jumpers or flyers getting in. Think tennis court covered over top with mesh...
Recommend Aussie off grid living Our Small footprint to watch and follow maybe some great ideas for you
Looking forward to watching your progress. So where are u in nsw Nth, west EAst ? I recommend you do a plan on where you want to build things. Garden etc and using raised beds as tree roots from all the bush will be everywhere and use the moisture and fertiliser , maybe google wicking beds uses less water and easy to make. .Do you get much rain and are you planning to be self sufficient eventually? 🌻🐔🍋🏠 oh gosh no gardens up against the house fire hazards , very bad for termites remember your in the bush ! Yep we have redbelly blacks and we’re in the suburbs .Do you have a fire plan in place ?
You have it easy living off-grig on your own land, try it without your own land, anyway best of luck and be carefully about the council, keep your Witt's about you, Best O r Luck
This is my dream
Get those boys in that creek with some gold pans 🤣
Great start Went through similar a couple of years back. Have a look at permaculture zoning, that really made sense to me and helped to understand what to put where. Permaculture also has lots of good ideas how to improve your soil and water management..
good on you guys just a thought move ac to waist level and away from gas hot water just as a service tech relocate things all good.
Thank you for these videos.
Have you got a river nearby ? If you have keep an eye open and ears open for Yowies
So glad i stumbled across this channel. So many in USA but they dont have the issues we have .. I have a Ever Hot one fifty wood fired oven and cook top and hotwater if your interested, it was in our house w just purchased. Please continue sharing your content, good bad and ugly, as i am also leaning towards heading off grid and as much info as possible
Anyone around Perth into off grid living, or know of any smaller land for rent or sale...any info would be great...
I was excited to see an Australian bush off grid video, unfortunately the american style on/off narration is very disappointing for me, brief captions eg: what was happening with the water tanks would work better. I wish you and your family all the very best, although it won't be easy, it will be worth it.
You guys are really living the dream I just wish I had of done this. Good on you congrats on living your dream ❤
Awesome guys👍👍
👍
You've made great progress in such a short time. Any reason why you didn't use the logs to build the cabin they were intended for? Seems a waste.
Please spare us the music
Yes I tried fast forwarding but it never ended
May I ask how much you paid for the property?
Colin mate you're a very gifted artisan and instructor, I'm looking forward to getting back in touch about that viking style bow I called you about a few months back. Thanks for the wisdom you drop in these videos 💪🏼
That looks great. However I was wondering how you are doing that regarding approval. I have the impression that's much easier where you are. Not sure if it's the shire or the state that make it easier. I am in WA and I have big problems at the moment. But this is all Australian standards. How do you get the energy efficency done with all of that?
Did you need council approval for the shipping container?
You guys are a true inspiration. The dream of living on land and raising our own animals is one my husband kids and I have had for the longest time. We are currently living on the midnorth coast of nsw and saving like crazy to be able to afford a little slice of land one day.
Do you have a website? I don’t use social media.
No i dont have a website up and running yet. Will do soon though.
Awesome. These look as good as bear Kodiaks. Wish I hada known you were around before I spent so much on a Damon Howatt. Knew to this but lovin it.
@@JF-oc7xl they are styled around a 1959 56" Kodiak mate. Really nice little bows. Great performance for a short bow like this too
I like to finish with Rozsutec Scythe Stone and leather Strop with green paste.
I want to get a tiny or small house of some sort too its wonderful to see so many people getting into it now
Where are you 😂
