Hey Folks! First I'd like to thank everyone who's joined me on tour; I hope we all had fun learning the art of Gold Prospecting.
Gold Prospecting is nothing but hard work and good luck. Every day I get to spend out in the forest with new people sharing my passion for gold mining, we all get to test our luck and push our endurance. We usually find out, we have it pretty easy nowadays. Gold mining is definitely a gamble of time and patience, the more you play the more you win!
Well things have changed and I do plan on getting back out in the Black Hills to record some new adventures. I am no longer giving claim tours, with that being said i do owe an apology to any who might have stopped in to see me again. The future of the this channel is going to be my personal adventures, testing my own luck and endurance. Thank you to all that have supported this journey so far, i hope to make these adventures into entertainment at the least, maybe leave behind some education if possible.

Quick trip to the creek
Time has a way of flowing like the streams I enjoy to prospect.
In this video, I appreciate the chance I get to prospect again. The video is short, and the gold is modest. The point is that your work is nothing unless you enjoy it. Go out and have fun, maybe pan a flake or two of some Fresh-Color!

Have you tried Spring Creek? Its between Hill City and Custer and as far as i know there are no active claims but still plenty of gold in it. At one end of Spring Creek theres a huge culvert right at the end where it intersects a T intersection. I cleaned that out for many years. Each spring run off it fills in again and redeposit gold. It should be good. There is another culvert down in the valley on spring creek road and depending on which way you are headed theres a driveway on the creek side that goes down to the creek. The private property and gate should be visible after you cross the culvert and i would clean that one out and find gold using my hand dredge or yabby pump depending on where you are from it has a couple names. If you get boots on the ground you will find the old workings from one end of that creek to the next. I grew up in the Black Hills northwest of Custer on the Limestone road. I moved to Oregon last year. I figured i would let you have my old sweet spots that usually produced well for me since I no longer live there. Someone should definitely take advantage of this long abandoned spot that still has plenty of small gold in it. Theres a feeder creek that flows behind the old Boyd's antiques that dumps into Spring Creek and where those two meet you will find some pretty good gold there. I never found the source of where it is shedding from but it has to be there cause when I worked one area it would always be full again the following spring. There's a couple of places that you can try. If you need some other ideas there is Ruby Gulch and it has some good gemstone deposits but make sure you do your homework if you go there. Last time i checked there were several active claims in Ruby Gulch. I found red Garnet there the size of golf balls hence the name Ruby Gulch 😊 have fun and stay safe out there. I'm
Thanks a bunch I hope you have good prospect out In Oregon!

Thanks @GSProspecting hope to bring more adventure soon !
If I catch you claim jumping I will press charges
Do you think you have the only claim in the hills? We want nothing to do with you.
Really it's a big world lots of creeks and streams.
I am very aware there are other creeks and claims. Just stating that you are not welcome on the claim. We are aware someone has been using it without permission, (not saying you) but charges will be pressed when it is found out who it is.
@mikemclain-mg9rf hope you catch them, thanks for the warning...
@@mikemclain-mg9rf " Just stating that you are not welcome on the claim" You have the mineral rights to your claim, but you can't stop people from being on your claim the land is for public use as long as they dont hunt for minerals.
It makes me very happy to see a video again. I hope you find more time to hunt. I didn't do to great in custer but had a great relaxing time. Hope to hunt with you again someday. Always a pleasure
Hey Thank you Ryan! We will make it happen next time your down!
If I catch Trent claim jumping I will press charges
@mikemclain-mg9rf Do you Think you own the only claim in the hills? We want nothing to do with you. Please leave us alone or we will press charges for harassment.
It's a good thing I know and play by the rules..
Havnt heard from you in a while are you still gold prospecting ?
I'm getting back into the groove and I hope to have a few new videos of my adventures this summer. I plan to locate some new ground!
You still going at it? Did a tour a couple years back. Coming up that way in June.
I am no longer guiding for big thunder if you'd like to get together and do some prospecting this is the best way to reach me!
Where are you located? Do you guide out of towers. We're from Fargo and coming down 2nd week of September. We are members of both local clubs in the area
Hey, thanks for the views. I'm in Keystone, If I can fit you guys in I would love to help put you on some gold! Message me or comment again when your in the area!
@@FreshColorProspecting sounds good
I would like to come try it out
Hey how's it going? I contacted you many months ago about sitting in on some prospecting. I believe your in Keystone, my gpas place is out of Hill City towards Deerfield. I've been hiking up behind his place where there is a flume trail that they used for gold mining. I'm finding what looks like lava rock, petrified rocks, green looking quartz, with runs of red/white quartz. On that hill side there, it's different, strange combinations of cool rocks. There's mines there that my gpa used to pick around there, cool stuff. I'm interested in my hillside, unusual finds. I've not seen this anywhere else..
Nice, that does sound crazy. Thanks for reaching out again. If we can get something organized I'd love to come check out the flume trail and grandpops picking grounds. Let me know when works best!
Sub #785, man you got some Great vids. Hopefully you'll get some more out soon.
Yo man, you still around?
Im here just haven't prospected in while
@@FreshColorProspecting dude! We should hit the hills.
@Au Guys Prospecting let me know you can email me at the same handle to get connected this summer !
Hi I am in black hills right now can you tell me where I can go to pan for gold please
Googoyl earth is your friend when it comes to prospecting. Also gold maps online, for just a few bucks you can see all the active and inactive placer and lode claims. That'll put you in the right area's. Good luck!
That's a nice pan
do you ever have bears or other animals mess with you out there?
We have mountain lions and a few bears in the area. I have never had any problems personally. But i did have one on trail camera walk through the claim in the early morning.
745th subscriber I hope I can be the encouragement to boost you on your journey. Hopefully one day I'll be doing what you're doing.
Thanks man i really hope it works out well for you!!
Excellent iam going to South Dakota this year on 3/12/23 hope I find me some Gold
Still prospecting?? Semi retired with lots of time, let's go! I know nothing about it but just simply would love the experience. Am not greedy or want.... Just want to learn and get out!!
I would love to do a little prospecting this spring let me know
@@FreshColorProspecting cool and awesome!! My grandpa's got a place north of hill city and when he was alive he prospected. My brother and I have a couple clues from him about the old train robbery that happened outside of hill city, when it warms up we'd like to see 8f we can't figure out where the guy hid it👍😁
@Steve Ridge that sounds like a fun treasure hunt! Let me know im off old hill city road!
Awesome feathers, not too sure. Is one a turkey and the other a chicken feather? On my travels pannin' n such, always addin' feathers to my hat. Excellent Gold! Thanks for sharin' and take care. 🙂🤙✌

You have a really cool channel man! I just moved intro the Keystone area for a work for camp deal until October this year. I've been getting into prospecting and any advice would be well heard!
Welcome to the area, When you have a free day let me know we can scoop some dirt !
@@FreshColorProspecting That would be awesome man! I think I was able to find ya on Instagram, I'll send ya a message and we can go from there!
Enjoyed the video. I look forward to your next one.
Spent a half day with my family prospecting with Trenton and Mitchell and we had a blast. Their knowledge of the areas history and panning and sluiceing was exemplary. Would recommend for anyone looking for an authentic old school river panning experience. Sit around and you will find nothing. But if your willing to put in the work you'll have a great day. Thanks guys.
Nice effort and great attitude young man....best of luck!!! I think I am gonna give it a try !!!!
Thanks Daniel!
Is the sidearm to defend you from wildlife or a-holes?
Maybe a little bit of both 🤣
Great video. Nice to see you inspiring the younger generation. I can't wait until the frost is out of the ground. I'm chomping at the bit to get out to our Ditch Creek claim.
Yes the dirt will give us the goods!

Nice looking gold. Too cold for me to prospect this time of year.
Another great video Trenton. Looks like a lot of work. Hope to see you in February or march. Save a few buckets of dirt for me
Does the stream stay open during the winter? Just curious how you process all that material.
If it does freeze up we brake a hole and keep the show going, I will be showing some winter prospecting here soon!
@@FreshColorProspecting Hard core! Even though I'm from MN I don't have patience in the Sub-Zero temperatures. Great video.
@@johndurkee7806 yea it is a gambling labor of love that's for sure!
Hey, from ringgold geaorgia here. We are visiting SD in June. Are we able to prospect anywhere in the black hills? What about Custer state park?
Like anywhere I recommend doing your own research! There are active claims all over the Black Hills, and I do believe Custer park is not open to prospecting.
Quite interesting seeing the reclamation process.
Thanks I'll bring you more in the future!
Great to see another video and the site looks much cleaner than when my wife and I were there. Looking great!
Great video. Looks like a ton of work. My lower back hurts just watching that. Great color and cant wait to be out in the beautiful black hills with you again.
