Hi, I'm Ryan Masecar, a drummer and recording engineer based in North Carolina. Member of ¡Tumbao! and Rush tribute Cygnus X-2. On this channel I post drum videos of many kinds!
Ryan Masecar on Drums - "Davy Jones' Locker" by lefthand
The third tune from my college friend Geoff, who goes by the stage name lefthand (lefthand133 on the internet). We've been developing a really interesting heavy-yet-clean sound over this couple tunes, and I think this is the strongest yet!

woah that's super cool
Ryan, that was absolutely EPIC!!
Solid 👍🏼
I'm curious why you are holding the drum sticks the other way?
Outstanding dude
dude.... that is beyond exceptional... amazing.
One of my favorite solos, thanks, enjoyed that a lot!
Masterful dude! Your cymbals and high-hats sound almost spot on. Drum fills spot on!
this was perfect
super vraiment
5:00 to 5:17 is
Fan ffffn tastic. Good work.
Great job man! What headphones are you using?
@@JohnnyAvram Beyerdynamic DT-770 Pro
@@masecardrums thanks!
Nope, way too much kick drum. Sorry, not close.
The kick pattern is taken from the R30 performance, where it's clearly (arguably too) audible. It surprised me how many kick notes are in there, that you don't hear on Permanent Waves. ua-cam.com/video/yVlanw37hfY/v-deo.html
@@masecardrums I've listened to this song hundreds of times over the years ... live and studio ... too much kick, sorry. And yes, before you ask, I am a drummer, too ....
@@masecardrums SO, I also went back and listened to a 1984 live recording ... ua-cam.com/video/zI5KWfq91kM/v-deo.html ... that does sound like it has more kick than the studio version...
Just came across this. Blown away. Perfect cover! You sir are amazing
Sitting here with my 2yo letting her listen. A Rush fan in the making.
The perfect song, the perfect cover...
Nailed it with a 20lbs hammer! The Professor would give you an A+!
dang that is impressive dude
Great song, amazing cover! Subscribed
Tab drumtheword something like that...good guy
Holy cow! Talk about multitasking! Amazing job!
That thing sounds really good. Very tight, and THANK YOU for not using too much gain! Well done.
Love this song. Guy plays it perfectly
I hate flumies
Yeah!
Holy shit, that was awesome!
Один к одному! Супер!!!
Great job, my dude!
I like the tone you get around the 27:40-28 mark.
Thank you very much for sharing!! Outstanding drumming and a superb drum sound!! Could you share your wisdom of tom tuning? That would be great!
I’ve always loved Rush for so many reasons….each one is the greatest at what they do. I’ve never seen this video that shows Neil hit the keyboard!!! I’ve always wanted to know who played that. 👍🏻👍🏻👍🏻👍🏻👍🏻👍🏻
That was great.
Best drum cover of this song I've ever seen- you nailed the feel, which IMO is even more important than going hit for hit. Outstanding!
e902 sounds awesome. And the Beta 52 sound is cool! Excellent job dude!!!! Thanks, I’m building my new studio, and I’m a drummer so this helps a lot.
Coisa bonita de ver.
Great!!! Sound it much better too
Just hit the thing with your fist. Quit fuckin around.
No pocket. Sorry. Impressive. But no pocket. Loosen up.
wonderfull
It's pronounced, Cherry-uh-tone. I forget what it means (in Malay?), something like, 'wonderful tone'? I have one of their Express Trainwreck clones. Funny enough, but I also have a Marshall cab like yours, 1986, with the faded-to-brown grill cloth. Nice. Someone told me Marshall used defective die for a year or a few, but I think it adds a nice look. I also have a matching JCM 800 head. But I have a Splawn Quick Rod 50 on order and expect to like that more.
Thanks for the great demo! How effective is the PPIMV? I want to keep volume under 90db standing a few feet in front of the cab, does it do a good job of keeping the cranked tone at lower volume levels?
Amazing job! Such a tricky song to play. I see with that xylophone, you are all ready to do "Spirit of the Radio" as well!
Nice cover!
Very nice job bro. You nailed it
Brilliant. One of the best Police drum covers I've found in youtube....
Amazing job!
Sweet!! Great job... any rush song is hard to do!!
sounds awesome. i found a homemade octoban with no bearing edge. it had no musical sound. curious about heads and the degree of the bearing edge, as i guess this is really important in drum making.🍻
*JUST SUBSCRIBED.* And I'm not even a drummer..
