Ruger Wrangler or Ruger Mark ll for personal safety
Переглядів 77День тому
Both pistols are excellent, but the Ruger wrangler is a more reliable platform only holding six rounds and it is single action loading is not very fast but irregardless of 22 ammunition it fires every time and if this was a situation of self-defense, you can’t risk a misfire, which sometimes can occur with the semi automatic platforms in the 22

    Thanks Matt great info!!! I'm in the suburbs of Charlotte and recently heard of a home invasion in our town where a group was going around and seeing if cars in driveways were unlocked to steal whatever was in the vehicle. They found one unlocked where the garage door opener was in the car and opened the garage and came into the house. So another tip is to bring the garage door openers inside of the house if your vehicle is parked in the driveway. It sounds simple but I would bet many do not do this.

    Great video Matt, thank you!!! With my lifestyle, working from home, I am in the house or around my neighborhood probably 80% of the week so my edc is either my Kimber 6 shot K6xs 38 special or I also have the Ruger SP 101 357 magnum and I have never felt worried carrying a snubbie revolver for self defense. I'm not looking to run towards trouble so if trouble should happen to come my way, I feel it will more than likely be up close and personal and I trust that revolver, especially if the attacker is right on top of me, to go bang more than a semi-auto, especially if I'm caught by surprise and I don't have the greatest grip on the firearm, having to shoot one handed or if I have to push it against the body of the attacker to fire it, not worrying about it going out of battery or jamming up.

      Im in the same boat as you. I already own a .22 Beretta LR and have a good supply of .22 ammo. Good thing about the Super Wrangler is you can shoot .22 LR AND .22 Magnum which is nice. The Super Wrangler looks like a nice target gun. Inexpensive ammo in .22 LR and Magnum, just kind of slow in loading and unloading. But who cares right? Seems like a nice Range gun. Good luck in whatever you decide. As a plus this gun is fairly inexpensive, which is always nice.

    Couple thoughts...as good as stingers are, they may not be the ideal ammo in that gun...thought is the case is slightly longer than standard, and may result in failure to eject...and the extreme combination of velocity/bullet weight also may have contributed to issue...we don't carry .22lr in our autos, but in an all hands on deck situation our lcp ll and mark iv lite would be loaded, most likely with plain mini-mags, as the ammo has been tremendously reliable (always the bug with .22 ammo) for us...with extra magazines we could dump a lot of rounds downrange in a hurry, which does have some quality...

  • @JohnPublic-dk7zd
    @JohnPublic-dk7zd 3 місяці тому

    The only single action revolver we have ever carried is the NAA mini revolver in .22lr, which does present a multitude of slightly different problems, but, it can go anywhere...we keep an old Heritage loaded with .22wmr, down in the basement for the possibility of any issues while doing the laundry...our current carry is a single action auto...totally agree any gun beats no gun, and we see the range weekly to stay in practice...good video...

    I’ve been looking at the super wranglers for a few months and they look nice. Just curious about how well the cerakote finish holds up after some wear. I originally gravitated to the brown one but if the finish wears quick the black would be a better choice

      @@thanielsommers4500 I went with the black one only the cylinder has the famous ruger wear marks the rest of the gun is holding up quite nice after 1000 rounds so far. I only got the wrangler because of the adjustable sights and the 22mag cylinder. To me the gun is a trainer and backyard plinker but with 22mag it could be quite handy in a defensive role or backpack gun. For the price it’s worth every penny. I’ve shot every 22lr ammo through it with no accuracy issues or key holes.

      The one i have is holding up with no wear other than powder from ammo residue. It is a very solid good looking single action revolver and as someone said the 22 mag cylinder makes it a better defensive option and I would not feel unprotected. The price for what you get is also great,

    A SA revolver properly used is also about the safest CCW there is. Probably the biggest hole in the market with respect to the SA is true pocket size. The Stallion and Super Seven are about as close as you get. It is a shame really because regardless of whether it is in a holster or not it is virtually impossible for it to go off unintentionally. No matter how hard something impinges on the trigger unless it can simultaneously bring the hammer to full cock it can't go off. To address the slow reload of the solid fram SA the backup gun is the best response.

    When I was a kid we were staying in a pop up trailer in the woods. A black bear broke into our kitchen tent and began eating our food. My dad used a single action 22 and tried to scare it away by shooting it twice. The bear merely looked over at him but didn’t appear to even feel it. From that point on i decided not to ever carry a 22 in any situation where I may have to defend myself. From anything.

    • @mattrhodes9126
      @mattrhodes9126 3 місяці тому

      It is not a perfect caliber but for some people it is all they have. My favorite caliber is a 357 magnum and people have defended themselves from bear with it but I have no desire to prove that point.The 22lr is versatile as you can take small game even deer in a worst case scenario with a head shot and it has defended people in their homes and in public once again because it is all they had. For some people the single action does what they need if they practice and 22lr is cheap in comparison to other calibers so hopefully they will practice with their 22. On a human attacker shots to the chest, neck or face could cause enough pain to stop the threat and that is the point, The round is lethal and I for one would not want it bouncing around my torso doing damage to my lungs or intestines. Thankyou for your story and comment. Be safe always. Matt

    My father was in the first of two squadrons reporting to Chu Lai in 1965, and that "base" at that point was little more than tents and a marsten mat airstrip that the Seabees had just finished building! No defensible perimeter. Great.... he went to the armory to get a 1911. They refused to issue him one because he was medical corps (Geneva conventions)!!! Undeterred, he went to the PX with hope of getting a 12 ga... you know, to hunt ducks of course. Well the only thing they had was a Ruger Blackhawk in .357! Ruger Blackhawk it was!

    I find with small guns that accuracy can be difficult but at self-defense ranges 20 feet in let’s say this particular LCP Max does what it’s supposed to do. That being said there’s always a pistol that is a bit of a lemon and so far with Ruger products I have not run across that. With full metal jacket very little recoil, but with self-defense rounds you better hang on.
