favorite song--any chance you have kept up with Bruce's brother?!?
Optimount sucks, that's why they've redesigned their whole lineup.
Love the drumming and singing. I’m 54 and love the interpretation. You must have been a second to two younger than me in this video!
Yes its true , same situation other sames tom holders . Tama tom holder type are best for more resonance... GREAT VIDEO.. suscribed.
People, please listen with a good headphones
Throw the drum dial in the trash and use your ears. That drum is nice, but it sounds shit.
amazing song amazing singer on the drums, he certainly enjoys what he is doing. Gimme some loving brings back memories in my youth.

trash drum
this slaps
40 seconds in the drum gets hit ?!? 🤦🏻♂️
have more resonance with the vibraband, the good thing of the optimount is which you can put the toms really near of eachother..
Ludwig Mint Oyster tom ?
Drum was slightly out of tune during the optimount test. Turn up the volume and listen closely. You'll hear the decay stutters. With the Vibra band, the decay was smooth. That wobbly, "stutter" is an indication that the heads are out of tune with each other. When you swapped in the vibra band and retensioned the head, you corrected the tuning problem. However, out of tune or not, I did not pick up any choking with the optimount. Both ISO's seem to work equally well.
Awesome! The third kit was my personal favorite. Third solo as well. I dug it all though! Great!
Both are crap! There’s only one you need and that’s a Gauger rims mount, the best! 🥁
Both sound like shit! Get a gauger rims Mount.
That drum sounds like cat shit.
That's my boy on the drums!! When you learn to sing man?? Sweet!
Vibraband is better. However I have played old Slingerland drums that really sing with penetration type hardware. I understand the concept of having less stress on a small area of the shell though.
Listen again. The drum sound brighter and drier with the vibra-band. That means its arresting the drums ability to vibrate naturally. The optimount is working better in this case.
@@DeanMk1 I don't agree, I can also hear a weird buzzing with the optimount. I can only trust my own ears.
Great tone.
I had a garbage can filled with tapioca pudding that sounded better than that drum
Recording a tom directly from the side is the worst angle you can record a drum from. That's why nobody has ever done that.
Dan: Do you have an Oriollo kit now? How do they sound and compare to your other kits? Worth the investment?
Love the intro. This vid deserves way more likes
optimount introduced vibrations as well as choking the drum. You wouldn't notice this playing with a band live but it would be very noticeable in a studio recording situation. I'm guessing the optimount put too much stress on the four lugs it attaches to.
Woah neddy!
Great job, just saw you in Clayton and your still rocking big. This has outstanding drumming and great Garvin guitar work
RIMS mount for me!
Conclusion???
I've never been able to tell much of a difference but it's definitely a solid mounting system. Some people just seem to prefer it. Having a little more choke isn't always a bad thing. I do have drum builder friends who swear by virgin mounting though.
That drum sounds really, really bad. I mean...like... wow. Horrible.
Paul.yea I noticed it very dead sounding.how to tune your drum like a pro.(the tom’s)needs to watch Rick Beato 🥁💻
Bruce, are you out there ? It's time for the class reunion. May 3, 2014.
Bob. Bruce passed away a few years ago from cancer
@@petermicolino316 sorry to hear that. Wonder if anyone has a copy of his cover of She’s leaving home
Had this vid in my fav's list for over two years never gets old. Great chops.
Great work !!! , this Remo snare is made from wood ???
excellent great job
What year did you buy those fibes? iI bought mine in 1996/97. When did they quit making fibes drums?
Frankly, that tom sounds poorly tuned. Should have included a snare stand mount, and no mount (hanging from rim in hand). Just a poor test overall, sample of 1, 'nuff said. I am skeptical these make much difference with a well tuned good quality drum, I have some older drums with the "old 'shove a pole through it" mounts and they sound terrific when well tuned, and that means lugging around a lot less metal.
I did a comparison between modern 'virgin' mounting systems and the old 'shove a pole through it' kind and what do you know, old is way better and it's makes sense the tension is evenly spread inside and out, the marketing maggot who came up with this outside mounting fad must laugh from on high at how easily people can be suckered into paying more for an inferior product.
Can't believe I found this - those were the days.
pros pearl : looks more stable ludwig mount : looks kooler as far as the vid i think the ludwig wasnt tuned as well u probably played on the optimount system b 4 u recorded , because ive seen your other vid where u played w ludwig mounts and it was a very nice sound .
Who said anything about cover bands, recording, live performances or anything? Literally all they're telling you is that one resonates more than the other. I don't know why some people get so arsey about these things! Personally, I don't like the OptiMounts, because they're a pain in the arse to work with, but that's just me! I.S.S. all the way for me, never had a problem with my toms falling off, lol! :p
The RIMS mount has a bit more sustain than the Optimount, after the initial strike of the drum head from what I hear.
just pristine sound. great choice on cymbals!
Talk about a myth ! I challenge any drummer to listen to a band live and tell me whether it's even using iso mounts on the toms. Granted, recording is another animal altogether, but how many cover bands out there are selling CDs of the quality that require such detail ? Marketing 101.....nice job drum hardware manufacturers :)
It's not about listening to a band live it's about you as the drummer playing a kit. If you have a drum that's ultra dead, for me anyway, it doesn't inspire my playing, it feels flat and lifeless. Obviously there are situations where that is desirable or stylistically appropriate but if I'm doing a general gig with a mixture of styles I like to have a little more life to the drum. Toms in particular
Gorgeous drums... me likee, me wantee!
Seen these at my local drum store, with the 16x16. Amazing sound in person!
Killer kit!
AWESOME! yall have a kickass drummer! Well done
Perfect! Best cover for this song that i could find! All the others that attempted to cover this song were alright but could never beat this!
well optimount chokes it ...
