Dexta Dual Clutch Overhaul (Trailer for DVD)
Dual clutches or 'Livedrive' as it was often known featured two clutch plates, one for the transmission and a separate one for the PTO and proved to be a popular feature of tractors from the 1960's. The PTO clutch could be operated by a hand lever or by a 'two stage' clutch pedal, pushing the pedal halfway down disengaged the transmission while fully down disengaged the transmission and the PTO. Using a 'hands on' approach this presentation follows the dismantling, repair, re-assembly and setting up of a Fordson Super Dexta dual clutch. In addition flywheel run-out, clutch adjustment and gearbox input shaft seal replacement are detailed. Improvisation plays a key role to overcome the lack of special tools. Although based on a Fordson Super Dexta the basic procedures shown will be applicable to other makes and models of tractor fitted with dual clutches.

We expect a lot from a tractor battery so it makes sense to maintain it to hopefully give a longer trouble free life. Basic battery maintenance is covered along with corrosion removal, disconnecting, re-connecting and general inspection.

Ford 1000 and 600 series are the best tractors. You can get parts everywhere and the engines can run until 12'000 hours without rebuilt. Very good machines! I got a 3055, wich is a Special model between the 3000 and the 4000 tractor.

I just bought a 1963 Super Major and I have no idea how to use a lot of the moving mechanisms.. Hi, I am needing to replace the clutch plates in my Super Dexta. It's a 9" dual stage. I don't have one of the tools described in the manual. Wondering if your video shows how to set up this clutch without a special tool and if so, how I can get a copy of view your video? Kind Regards, Mark
