I thought Indonesian standup comedians were the rudest n cruelest when roasting some local public figures, but i am wrong this lady is so unbelievably frontal n brutal that i dont think what she is doing in thd vid is a joke.

This is cringe and not funny. And that voice…..I would’ve left the room the moment she opened her mouth.

I find comedians like Jocelyn who use a little gallows humor (“what, too soon?”) and edgy routines to push and pull their audience along for an emotional roller coaster ride, getting them to think while they laugh, are much more entertaining than those who rely solely upon one-liners. Death is the essence of humanity. If we can’t joke about it, we’re not human. IMHO

currently going on a deep dive of airplane incidents (don't ask i'm like 40+ links deep into wikipedia) i came across this controversy but none of the damn sources would actually say what the joke was. i thought it was gonna be like... super super racist or targetting the victims or something but this was incredibly tame. as the description says; 9/11 jokes are fine, and the submarine implosion was being joked about the next day. hell, this joke wasn't even ABOUT the flight. it was about the "breakup" of the two countries. the flight/land bit was a small addition to the bigger punchline. was it tasteful? no, but it wasn't trying to be. i don't see how this had hundred of protesters wanting you banned. tenacious D (the band with jack black and kyle gass) cancelled their australian tour because kyle made a joke about wishing trump's shooter wouldn't miss next time. there were a vocal crowd (albeit minority) crying for them to be deported and banned from ever entering our country again. even one of our silly senators nobody likes specifically called for our PM to make this decision. that's insane. and the thing is, i'd consider myself a sensitive person. i'm the kind of guy to say shit like "hey, don't joke about that" or correct people for using slurs or whatever. i'm called "woke" on the daily. freedom of speech is not freedom of consequences but man... i do not think THIS was that crazy. sorry for the rant i just feel so weirdly strong about this. made me laugh, btw

Sometimes offensive jokes does work, but sometimes it's just offensive for the sake of being offensive I just watched the clip, and yea it's not funny at all, there was no set up, punchline, or even a joke, it was basically just "Fuck you Malaysia" and "hahah tragedy funny" People had made many jokes about Malaysia being bad as well as jokes about Malaysian airlines tragedy, but theres never a big controversy around it because they're decent and obvious joke This one just feels like she's salty and spreading her salt to others. And the biggest contributor to the whole controversy is instead of being a decent person and acknowledging that the joke wasn't that good in the first place, she doubled down, tripled down, and acted like child with the "haha you're giving me attention" Offensive/dark jokes was never cancelled, it's just that most people miss the part about the joke is required to be good
