Furthermore, his point about psychology basically allowing for no refuge of our ugly little selves, which each and every one of us has in us, serves to de-mistify us, serves to rob humans of some magical quality. To examine us and know us completely makes is monstrous. Because everybody has disgusting, monstrous thoughts that should not be brought to light. Because if they are, we're forever seen as wrong and ugly and evil. A complete analysis of us renders us unlovable, because ultimately, we are. It robs us of the ability to pretend that people might be good, when really, all we are and what we ever will be are selfish little apes.
