From reaching out (historic tip risk), throwing stuff from the train, dragging branches, trying to touch the tunnel and partially disembarking before stopping, surely won't be long before there's an accident, and I'd take this video down before H&S get to see it

These class 101 trains 🚂 🚆 🚊 are first generation DMU - Diesel ⛽️ Multiple Unit trains 🚊 🚆 🚂 are very old by now in 2024. They are slam door 🚪 trains 🚂 🚆 🚊. Class 101 trains 🚂 🚊 🚆 are used for provincial services when brand new 🆕. 👍

I stayed at Champion House in Edale in 2001 when the 101s were on their last wheels; I stopped saying how smoky they were after I put some wet wood on the fire:-)

Still exists but SORN; I've been planting some trees between Holme Hall roundabout and the bridge over the footpath on Loundsley Green Road last week.

Most if not all the vehicles in this video have been scrapped now... PNU 114K still exists but SORN; most of the Fleetlines being withdrawn 1988-94 with a few surviving into Stagecoach. UWA 157S was last shown on the road in 1997 so must have been sold for scrap after remaining in reserve for a few months after withdrawal at the end of 1996. 2 of the UWA-S batch were sold to TM Travel, 2 (150 & 151) were reinstated to cover a vehicle shortage for a few months in 1998-99 and another (155) was later converted to an open top bus in Scarborough (the top deck parts being used in the restoration of Chesterfield Transport 123). UWA 155S was last taxed in 2006; UWA 150S is currently SORN.

It certainly is highly sprung.

I get nostalgic about a lot of things in life but not these. I hated them through the 1980s, when they would rattle and bounce their way across Norfolk and Suffolk. Even back then, when I was 10 or a little older I thought that they weren't very comfortable.

What a sad site of dereliction; all that time, effort and money gone into building the railway and canal just left abandoned. At least now the canal has been restored.

So much nicer to ride on than a pacer. They were showing their age at the end but were still good for it.

When I was driving these the twin power car was much prefered to a 142 as it was faster on the various climbs between Manchester and Sheffield.

Aah the memories. We lived in the town till 1971. Recall the bus station on Vicar Lane, it's now a shopping precinct.

I believe the tunnel is still there, just covered over by a large metal sheet. The sheet sounds hollow inside, so I assume they never filled it and just covered it over.

I used to play in that tunnel when I was a kid.
