Massey Ferguson MF Tractor Models - Front Wheel Drive Feature - Promotional Film
Right now I’m restoring my Wd at only ten years old starting with wheels rims tires and block and frame
@@donaldhibbard1551 awesome, keep turning those wrenches buddy!!
@ yup
I used a 3545 to farm with for many years. It was a very reliable tractor. I traded it for a Massey 8160.
Our farm has Massey ford and John Deere all from 1960s to 1980s they all have leg up some where we use our 7710 for baling because it has the gear the 4230 is an 8 speed no matter what you do you have the wrong gear for baling but with the power shift the Deere is great for snowblowing and we mainly use our Massey S for heavy tillage
Thanks for this video. My VW dealership charges me $180 for a TDI oil change. No more. You've given me the confidence to do it myself like I do with my gasser vehicles.
Awesome-glad the video helped! Thanks for watching!
Like your Barlow knife.
Thanks - I’ve had that one for many years!
dude I just bought a Napa wheel cylinder for my 1997 F-250 and they are $23.78 each Why would you ever put the old rusted piece of crap back in when they are that inexpensive ??
Thanks for watching and commenting. Yup, I installed new wheel cylinders on both rear wheels.
is there a place where used parts can be found for these old work horses? Sadly, so many parts have been discontinued.
Yup, it’s frustrating finding many older MF parts. I helped a buddy look and about the only option was a parts rig. Too bad, but reality now days. In NE Iowa many of the AGCO dealers can only get oil filters, couple odd ball parts of lucky.
I've never seen one with a cab herein n il
Oil and hydraulic filters have different sized threads! Thanks to our Agco dealer, Dee Imp of Waukon Iowa to straighten this out for me!
Glad she's doing good!
Thanks! I'm already looking forward to using it next year - hopefully it won't take me as long as that 78 ford f250 to get it on the road! ha ha
Our neighbor lady had about 30 old ewes she took care of and lambed every year. She had a D17 series IV and she did everytging with that tractor. I used to think that was to coolest tractor in the world
Agree, they seem to be tough old tractors!
Thank you for sharing the momentous first start of this beast, Opa!
No problem, now let’s grab some PBR and slim Jim’s and start hauling stuff!!!
mf tractors with cummins or walmet engines are better than perkins ...no smoke....
Yes 316l is fine for this strength wise but will wear faster and possibly gall if they are used against other pieces of stainless
Thanks for your comment! Looks like the sleeves run on a poly seal in the head.
Congrats man what u plan on running her with
Thanks! My grandfather’s Allis Chalmers D17 Series 3. The picker was a local purchase in Iowa and I’m really happy to have it.
@@opasvintagegarage awesome
Nice video very enjoyable. From my understanding Long was an importer of tractors. They were frequently Fiat, Leyland, or Landini brand of tractor, but could come from any brand from any country. They were almost always the most inexpensive, cheapest model the manufacturer offered. They were imported, and painted in the blue and white LONG branding. Not a very well regarded company. I think they went out of business by the late 90s.
Thanks for the kind words and info on the Long tractor. I think that’s the first time I’ve seen one! Hopefully it will be at the fair next year so I can look at it a little closer.
Dry rooten
Thanks, I never thought of that. Looks like I can get new old stock off ebay for the sleeves and check valves cheap, thanks for you comment and watching.
@@opasvintagegarage had that problem with high pressure fuel pumps on old CUMMIMS motors then they changed to stainless
All those GM/Terex 2-cycle engines!
It's funny that they say that there tractor is Bader in every way but 95% of the video they don't show the competition "struggling" they just say they do and way do so many people praise these tractors they are gut less compared to deere that's not me being a green fan my dad has a story about that and come on every one knows that if you want a tractor that will live forever then get a kubota all that a side this is a good piece of history you got even if it's the rong color 😆
😂yup, too bad Deere isn’t affordable though. If I took a cow pie from the pasture and put a JD sticker on it, a Deere fan would give me $100 for it! 😂😂
Looks like a Hoyt-Clagwell to me
Well, you might be right, Hooterville is the town I bought it! 😂😂
I like that harvester!
Thanks for watching, I can't wait to get it out in the field!
I have a 02 mercury sable and i have been looking for somebody doing this kind of job on camera. My rack and pinion has been leaking so badly that I just couldn't keep filling it up. Thank you for all that you do. :)
Was looking to see how the red connection is taken apart lol. But tx
Hello, I do remember a connection that was a little stubborn! That was an early video and I left some of the details out. Hopefully you got it disconnected and thanks for watching!
Motorcraft air filter to keep it original. I would expect nothing less from Opa's Garage!
Darn right Taco - it fit like a charm!!
What happened to your other vintage tractor videos on your other channel sir btw love the old Iron
Hello and thanks for watching! I like to change it up, but I don't have any more of the videos. I had a limited supply of the VHS versions.
Do you know the part number for just the manifold
Cast number: 92840020 - or go to annovi reveabeai (pump brand manufacturer) and you can order a replacement manifold fully loaded with components. If I could go back in time I would've ordered a bolt on replacement.
@@opasvintagegarage thanks
Was hoping to see you install the check valves and seals. Would love to see a video of how to tell if the valves are bad.
Thank you for taking us for a ride on the ole girl. My boys got a big kick out of it!
Thanks Taco!!! I'm glad the boys enjoyed the old Deere!! I need to get over to your place and do a video on that sweet chevy you bought, it would be awesome!

I definitely did not think of an actual grease gun when reading the title 😂😂
We had an oooold lubrimatic on the last boat i worked on and it always worked great. Had a brand new lubrimatic as a spare that never worked right.
Yup, I still have a pail filled grease gun that still works great. I'm down to my last pail of skelly grease, so I'll retire it after that's gone. Thanks for watching!
Never seen 300 series without a cab. All UK models had to have cabs, I had a 390 4wd 12 speed shuttle with a loader, and a 350 2wd. Left MF in early 2000s, no dealer. Went to Deutz Fahr tractors, better tractors than MF, I was a big MF fan but afraid they lost their way.
Very informative, thank, we just acquired a Massey Ferguson 390, this has given me more reason to believe we made the right choice
Awesome - glad you enjoyed the video! It always makes me happy when fellas can use these promo videos! Thanks for watching and have a good day!
My dad had a new MF 362. He has been buying Massey’s since the 35 and 65 was his first two , he also had the 135, 165, 175, 255, 265, 275, 285, 362, 471. Today I have a 1990 3070, my siblings have a 255, 471, 451, 35.
Awesome lineup! They are great tractors!!
@@opasvintagegarage yes , a lot of good tractors. Put many hours on most of them, but have worked all of them.
Dirty old scotch yoke pump
What you left out at 15:25 in the jump cut is what I needed to see, my rack definitely does not fit through that hole. I'm pretty sure that's where you dropped the subframe to get it out, the stains on your shirt give you away. I guess this is why it's for "entertainment purposes" rather than "how to do it".
I really wish I could've dropped the subframe! You have to be patient to get it out. The brake line could be in the way if the line has been replaced and is a little wide at the bend. Also, if memory serves me, I got very oily because I needed to remove a CO sensor connection. As I stated in the beginning, this is a tough job and even worse if the subframe can't be dropped. Make sure all the connections are separated as it could be hung up on one of them. Also check to make sure the tie rod, if still attached is not hanging up. 🤣🤣🤣Sorry, but I'm still laughing about you thinking I'm trying to pull a fast one on the UA-cam community by "secretly dropping the subframe"! Why in the world would I go through all that work of dropping the subframe behind the scenes and not film it?
Looks good
the video helps me alot. thank you
Awesome, thanks for watching!
That was great . wondering if you could find some videos on implaments that go on john deere 4020 mid or front PTO ?
Thanks for watching, I'll do my best to find that!
I know a former MF dealer who switched to JD franchise in the 80s. Like day and night. Said these J Deere’s are actually designed to be worked on and repaired with good service and repair Manuel’s and factory back up. Actually worth fixing as have good resale value. Deere was so far ahead. No contest.
I like MF, but Deere makes excellent tractors. JD also supported dealers when we had a rough go of it during the 80s. Thanks for watching and commenting plus sharing your story!
You should really do the springs at the same time anyway. Even if not broken
Thanks for watching and commenting. I agree and try to convince folks to replace. Especially if the springs have any rust on them. Not everyone sees the benefit or wants to spend the additional $.
Was there a check valve in the old one? I have a 2000 taurus and mine had a checknvalve in the old one, tried to transfer it to the new one, but the pressure port in the new one wasn't deep enough to put the check valve in and I don't see a lot of people talking about the check valve, so I'm curious what would happen if I leave it out. Not recommended for sure, but curiosity floods my mine too often.
Hello and thanks for your comment! I did the job a while ago, but I do remember when I picked up the refurbished ford rack, it did have a check valve installed with a label over it indicating that it did have a check valve. I'm guessing the label was to prevent it from falling out during shipping; also the old rack I took out had a check valve as well. Off the top of my head, it's probably needed to ensure steady and consistent pressure in the system -smoother steering without the small lags while driving in town, - I'm swaging, but that seems right. Now that I'm typing, I think I may have checked the orfice size with a thin wire to compare and I didn't swap. That job would've been easier if I could've dropped the subframe, but oh well. I do remember the trans cooling lines were also leaking, so I had red fluid everywhere!! I think I still have some stains on my work shirt - ha ha. Thanks for watching, I appreciate it!
I just looked at the video and the rack had a cap over both inlets and a card that let me know it had a check valve. Too many jobs ago!
Yeh, I agree. I was dreading dropping the subframe too, especially since I'm working on the ground on jack stands, but I simply used two bottle Jack's, 1 on each side, dropped it about 4 inches and it made it so much easier and dropping the subframe relieved my fear too. I just found out that apparently the owner before me had an engine swap done and they just did an entire cradle swap, including the rack and pinion, and I have everything on my cradle from a 1999 taurus even though it's a 2000. Which explains why I've had the hardest time ordering parts for this thing. Thanks for the reply.
I do have to add too, that I'm in Texas, just north of Houston, so salt on the roads and rust isn't that big of a deal here. Thankfully, or I would have been more hesitant, too.
Masz może film massey ferguson 8100 ? Jestem z polski Polen
Have no use for it but have always wanted one in the 4 wheel drive. Beautiful tractor
Cześć. Piszę z Polski. Mam MF 2640.
Hi. I'm writing from Poland. I have an MF 2640. I see that everyone taking part in the discussion has a lot of practice, so probably some of you know whether all old models of the 2000 series (in the USA, the equivalent is the 3000 series?) have the same drive transmission? To clarify the question: did the 2625 and 2725 models have a gearbox, final drive (differential) and final drive, with the same durability? Is the difference between the 2000 series models only a matter of different engine power and tire size, or also of different drivetrain components adapted to the engine power? It's best to ask practitioners.
How do you get the auto tran mission sensor line clip off after I take out bolts
Not sure I understand what you are asking. What clip?
Great video, does anyone know what model that TMR mixer is. It's very obviously a rebadged Artsway. Never knew they made some for MF
some of the best tractors ever made. we have a 393. sure does suck that massey stopped making 90% of the parts for them. a lot of tractors will die soon because of it
Sir Im a veteran tractor puller and I have told people tractor pulling is like life its all about balance nice job.
Great words of wisdom, agree!! Also, I have yet to find a better bead breaker than that one. I can't tell you how many tires that tool has worked on! Have a great day!
Opa. In dutch literally means grandpa . Greetings from the Netherlands
Hello and thanks for watching from the Netherlands! I'm a proud Opa of two grandchildren! My grandparents were born in Germany, so after my grandfather's death, I've taken over the name Opa from him!
I sure enjoy this a lot the storys I could tell about trucks just like this one a give it a like no.2
Great and thanks for the comment!! So far no surprises with this one, hopefully I can find the original box for the bed stored in one of the buildings as I think it's in ok condition. That will get me hauling gravel faster than building one. I'm going to clean the carb and hopefully get it running the next time I'm at the home place. Thanks again for watching!
