Can UW Stout WIN THE WIAC? D3 Football
I wish they would just say the quite parts out loud. “Listen, we cannot afford the D1 models.” I personally think the FCS is the best one currently but they barely can afford it and D2 certainly cannot.
@@Rockyinkansas agreed on the FCS model. I think you’d be surprised about how many D2 programs would be all in on that and ready for the expense. Unfortunately it’s an all or nothing approach
@@division1rejects no doubt the longer term D2 schools have the money for it but a smaller school who just reclassed like say Sul Ross State or Jamestown, they're gonna struggle unfortunately with it. Even then I'd love to see the FCS bracket adopted for D2, the NAIA bracket with some small changes could be sick as well
I agree. They need to model the FCS plan. At the end of the day, if the colleges can’t find a way to financially support the right model without the NCAA subsidizing it, then should you be in this level of football??
10 consecutive playoff appearances and 3/4 for the last 4 national championships. The question of dynasty comes to how long will Tony be at the helm, and what happens once he’s not. . .
Short answer no unless and until NCAA decides to not factor in money. This change at least sets up SR3 vs SR4 in the finals which helps at least.
Spot on
NFL scouts need to take a look at this guy; not just figure it's only D3.
Hell yeah!
Funny listening to this now after the absolute beating Susquehanna took from NC! 😂😅
Great segment guys! See you at The Game and GO North Central Cardinals!
Wish we could be there. But we'll be tuned in!
@division1rejects I would have thought you guys would be doing a Game Day event! Thst would have been awesome because I would be waving in the background!
@ i wish
Not a dynasty but definitely dominant for a period of time. That said if they go 4out of 5, now we're in dynasty era conversation.
I think it’s different than the GV early 2000’s era. The conference didn’t have the depth, the country wasn’t as strong across the regions. It’s certainly a dynasty.
I guess we’ll see!
Two things, first, this team would've blasted Montana. 😂 Second, I wonder if FCS or Group of 5 squads will come after Trinidad Chambliss.
To see that rematch. And I’m sure some will but my gut says he’s not going anywhere
I applied there maybe for 2026 season
Can Ferris match the early 2000’s 4 out of 5 that GV accomplished? The GV teams never dominated the scoreboard like that in AL!!
I like this type of content that dives into how the modern era effects the D2 and D3 levels
We’re glad you enjoy it!
Recruiting is dynamic, complex and down right confusing! But, losing hope isn’t the answer, there is a path for any family out there.
Ferris, Valdosta, NCC, Keiser showing that championship mindset! It’s hard to attain, and you never want to lose it. What a weekend!
Just Subscribed! Huge OBU Bison fan . Thank y’all for the coverage of the smaller schools.
Thanks for checking us out!
Hope college comes to mind
We love Hope!
I wish the naia playoffs were on espn+ also. NCAA way more user friendly with all games being in one place
Totally agreed. Has been nice to have one subscription
Hey that’s my pe teacher
🤣🤣
Is their really good football players transfering from theses schools.
Absolutely! We see small school athletes make the jump to power four programs every year
The timeline has been shifting and moving for years! Getting a chance to talk about the importance of December NSD on the small college recruits was truly enjoyable.
We're getting down to the best of the best!
Amen!
I think it’s time to say that the Ferris run is the most dominant period in GLIAC Football History
I was at the NCC game and it definitely felt like 1500 people was a little low. According to the NCAA stats website they had more for home games against Carroll and Elmhurst, which makes no sense
Very odd
Don't forget Solomon came over to the Rock from ND College as well. He's been an important part of the offense this year without a Kyle Sheets...
@@philmackey3162 great to see those kids that had their careers destroyed by a college shutting down get a new life.
Absolutely agree!
Beyond disappointed with Harding's defensive scheme. Ferris simply motioned a man EVERY play to see if they were in man or zone and Harding never even tried to disguise it. If Harding didn't go with motion( meant zone), Ferris would simply quick pass or run that direction having a man advantage. IF Harding went with motion(showing man 2 man), Ferris QB went to his 1st read almost always quick slant or 5 yard out. Trinidad was 0fer the day on deep throws but Harding stayed in soft coverage all day. So simple for Ferris offense with simple reads. Have to make a QB guess and have to climb the ladder on reads smh.
@@jamesw5353 sometimes there is value in simplicity but in the playoffs Ferris also had to execute. Maybe Harding didn’t believe they could execute that simplicity over the course of the game. Or maybe Ferris was just that much better…
@danfodrocy5533 As a former coach it was mind boggling to watch the lack of adjustment. I get the defensive scheme had served them well but you HAVE to adjust just as teams facing the triple option must as well or get killed. The simplicity of simply motioning a man and having at least a 1 man advantage pre snap made it simple. Trinidad is a great player but to make every read pre snap as easy as possible was ridiculous. You have to make OCs and QB have some hesitation. Harding DC never adjusted in the least, even after halftime.
@@jamesw5353 so that’s interesting, because in fact Ferris is a triple option offense (Just different than Harding) and adjustments, because of numbers, could in fact make it worse. Maybe that was where they were coming from.?
@danfodrocy5533 Who was coming from? Harding prepared all week for Ferris offense but somehow the scheme stayed the exact same. As an OC my life is so so simple if I know EVERY pre snap if you are in man or zone and I will have at minimum a 1 man advantage by you not adjusting. Disguise your defense...you can absolutely mirror motion appearing you are in man and simply drop into zone. Not to mention what was the point of running 2 high safties when everything was short pop passes. He completed 0 deep passes all day(toughest throws) but you played soft coverage all day allowing easy 5-8 yard throws and multiple motion swing passes.
@@jamesw5353 the fact that he completed 0 deep passes speaks to the value of the gameplan. To me, as an offensive coach as well, the ability to stay consistent to the 5-8 yd passes is the most challenging aspect. So hats off to Ferris and I’m not sure if I were Harding, considering the concern for Ferris and the explosiveness, that you’re in a real bind. You have to play soft to try and protect against the run game because going man to man is all 1v1. Tough spot to be in.
A freshman from Susquehanna breaking the rushing record??!!! I guess HS Recruiting isn’t dead!
Congrats to both of the HBCU's, I feel kind of bad that my Blazers went on to beat both of them now lmao. Red and black all hail
Big year for the D2 HBCU scene!!
You should check out a naia Peru state they just dropped 15 million on an indoor facility & it’s pretty much finished now.
That's awesome!
@division1rejects Yep, the HC is known also he coached Alvin kamara in juco at hutch & 15 other NFL players.
VA UNION LETS GO
🤝
@division1rejects Union got smoked 49-14!!!!! Byers was shut down
I talked about VA UNION on WFAN SPORTS RADIO(NY) advancing to the ELITE 8 to play Valdosta St this weekend.Charles Oakley&Ben Wallace ALUMS of this school.
Roll Stangs!
walk ons will still be around, as not every school is going to be able to fund all the players via full or partial scholarships, even with the new roster limits.
@@EyeOfTheWatcher that’s the piece to keep an eye on. Schools/Conferences have to opt into this new model. It’s not a mandate.
I would anticipate Harding to approach Ferris very similar to how they defended Matocha last year. 4-2 alignment in base defense that goes into a dime package on passing situations where the LB's role is to spy the QB on scrambles and designed QB keepers.
Certainly would make sense. Need to honor the QB run
This will hurt current FBS walk on no doubt, it but will help current HS recruits to aim for a lower level but they would still get some scholarship money and NIL opportunities. So so many FCS walk on that would be standouts at lower level schools increasing the quality of all those levels.
There could also be a lot of players who end of ending nowhere as well. That’s the life no one talks about. You don’t HAVE to take transfers, it’s a choice. Keep an eye on it.
@danfodrocy5533 ?? Overall if a player is good enough (under the old system) to get a walk on offer from an FBS school, they are certainly going to be coveted by lower level schools. Simply a trickle down effect that benefits lower level football quality with more higher level athletes in their program imo.
@ agree but I also believe the coaches will find solutions. The walk on is a life blood situation of college football. I truly believe coaches will find a solution and I believe there are a few options on the table. I hope they implement them.
@danfodrocy5533 Certainly hope they can...remember the days of Nebraska football being the bastion for walk on success.
@ those days are certainly gone. But can a Northwest Missouri be their feeder? Maybe even view them as a JV? I think there’s solutions for players, programs and fans alike.
The dynamics of the paradigm shift in college athletics leads to a drastic change in recruiting. Many are afraid, but fear is not the answer here! I can’t say how much I enjoyed discussing this with the D1 Rejects team.
Kobe this exact subject begs for you to watch the movie Greater! Needs to be the next movie you watch. Make sure you look up the Burlsworth award given out in college football.
Sucks to see GVSU get knocked out, so here in Michigan, we're rocking with Ferris now....just being honest.
Big Rapids is going to be ROCKING Saturday
Great show… keep it up fellas. Go Pride 🤙👊
Thanks! Will do!
Check out University of Mount Union
We would love to!
Harding v Ferris is a must watch on ESPN+ ! But in general, some of the best football out there right now.
So what is your current rankings for the final 8? I have Ferris and Harding 1a, 1b, Valdosta, Bemidji, Mankato, Rock, VU and Cal.
So do you think the committee makes the same mistake as last year and seeds Valdosta #1 over Harding/Ferris St.?
I would not be surprised. And don’t get me wrong, Valdosta has certainly earned the position they are in now. But if they get the one seed over the SR3 winner that would be downright wrong
Welcome to the D2 National Championship game...Harding vs Ferris St.! 2 weeks early but what a matchup.
Who’s transfering from D3 NAIA schools.
You would be surprised. The numbers are quite high
VSU mentioned, let's go boys
🫡🫡
VUU has a redshirt sophomore WR that can probably play on Sundays one day. VUU’s run game gets the most attention, but Vick Jr. is a beast.
We’ll be sure to check him out!
VUU Wr numbers is incredible for the number of catches. 1236 yards 13tds for 50 catches. Randy Moss
Uwrf should’ve gotten into the D3 playoffs😔
Hurts. They had a solid year
I wonder who those two band kids were from Cal that got really hype for that kick??? totally not me
I love it 🤣
Coagulations to Virginia Union, finally getting over that hump of winning in the playoffs. The only downside is that I can see some D1 FCS schools looking at the head coach to move to became a D1 FCS coach, specifically Norfolk State.
Great point. Just saw something similar take place with Benedict HC
Go Eagles!
🦅🦅
It was awesome talking some great college football matchups and diving into some players and their journeys to become an impact player.
