    Great Channel! NEW Subscriber! Used to Love eating at St. Mary's Mexican Food until my Girlfriend found a dirty NOT clean toe nail in her Chile Relleno Burrito. We did get our money back and were promised a discount the next time we came back. We were disappointed and didn't go back. Until a year later we decided to give it another shot. I did mention the incident we encountered in the past to remind them so I can get my discount, unfortunately that discount still didn't happen. The food was still good and no toe nail this time thank God! But we let it end there and just make our own Chile Relleno burritos at home now. Love your videos, God Bless.

    Your community is overstated. I spent most of my thru hike by my self. I don't tolerate whiners, so I guess folks don't dig that. YMMV.

    The trail and the earth will definitely will outlast us. I think you have a gift for cinematography. The text in the very beginning did not show up clearly and needs more illumination. You are THE person who introduced me and inspired me to hike which I do today. Thank you Darwin and Snuggles…I know she supports you a lot.

    I love hiking, have done it since I was a child with my favorite trail being the AT. I think there's a huge percentage of the hiking community that are arrogant, elitist jerks. I put Darwin in that group.

    That was really great; thank you! I’m planning to start hiking the AT NOBO next spring - no more than 500 miles - and look forward to contributing to that sense of community and responsible stewardship.

    Great job on this!! I love the main message Darwin! At least what I heard. I have done some short hiking trips on the AT but my local hiking trail is part of the MST, Mountains to Sea Trail in NC. I've been the caretaker of a 3 mile section for 5 years now and love it! I joined the Friends of the MST shortly after i found the trail and I get so much satisfaction form the time on the trail. If we all do a little we can achieve anything. I have followed you for years and appreciate the content you create and the way you do it, thank you!!

    Thanks. I'm a PATC trail maintainer on the Rollercoaster by Sam Moore shelter. You video embodies my passion for the AT. When I repaint blazes and a thru hiker hikes by I always ask... "Do you want to paint a white blaze?"

    You mention in the film that you hiked 7years. I once read that it takes 7 years for every cell in your body to be replaced. Therefore, you are not the same person you were 7 years ago. You changed and it was outside of your notice and control. You are in a renewed state of existence.

    You raise great questions. They point to aspirations that are higher than self.

    Not a fan of normal hiking any more. I don't go into the woods to be around mobs of annoying hipsters. Now I just find my own routes, often involving going into non-public lands. Is it legal? Not always. Do I care? Not really. I see beautiful places and get them all to myself. And the elements of route-finding and transgression add to the challenge. I'll never go back to hiking normal, state-approved, overly-trodden public trails.

    • @black_eagle
      @black_eagle Рік тому

      @@charliedroves5610 How about we stop maintaining trails and go back to the world of a hundred years ago, where only the most rugged and adventurous people spent much time in the wilderness? That would solve the overcrowding problem that recreational hiking created real fast!

    • @black_eagle
      @black_eagle Рік тому

      @@charliedroves5610 Why not trespass? Our ancestors didn't live in a world where all the land was claimed either--that's part of the problem. America didn't have this concept of private ownership of land until some crazies from across the ocean showed up a few hundred years ago--it wasn't a thing for 15000 years before that.

    Your filmmaking and editing has come a long way from the days of making videos of yourself walking down a dirt path and giving daily updates from the wilderness!!! It seems like thousands of people are trying to replicate what made your original channel grow, but you are branching out into newer and better things. Keep up the great work!

    Very well done! So true that so many trails, including the AT, are being "loved to death" which is one of those double edged swords. The positive side is that the more people who know about it and enjoy it the less likely we are to ever lose it. The negative is of course the wear and tear caused by all of that use. Which leads me to my second thought. The sequel needs to focus on the public/private venture represented by the trail, the role of the ATC and the very important, really critically important role of the trail clubs and volunteer maintainers of it. Ridge runners should be highlighted too. And then there is the service provided by local hostels and shuttle services not to mention the trail angels. Great job! ~ Martin
