There is a lot of misinformation and lack of education in the landscape industry and it needs to change. The biggest mistake is not selecting plants based their mature size and spacing them accordingly so they don't get overgrown (and then we trim them into unnatural shapes). Accessible ADA Parking - We Need More Education and Enforcement
There are way too many ADA parking spaces which are non-compliant and not able to be used the proper way by folks who really need the extra space. More education is needed for property owners and contractors so these space come into compliance with ADA regulations. Furthermore, there needs to be more enforcement to make sure the proper folks have access to these spaces and reduce (and fine) the violators.

My Neighbor's Failing Retaining Wall....and some other issues

BEWARE - Online Landscape Advice
Переглядів 642 роки тому
Online discussion forums and asking for advice are great ways to learn new things, get different perspectives and meet new folks with similar interests in the landscape industry. I belong to a number of groups and learn new things all the time! But, just because someone tells you something, doesn't mean you should do it. If you are asking for help, take the advice and 'research it' for your pro...
BEWARE of the 3D Sales Pitch for Landscape Designs
Переглядів 852 роки тому
There are companies out there who want you to purchase a '3D DESIGN' of your landscape project. They advertise all these 'pretty pictures' and suck you in to buying their services. DON'T DO IT! It's a sales pitch and you are getting taken advantage of. Why? Because they will send you these pretty 3D pictures but you won't have the actual information needed to build your project. So......they of...
Cold (and Hot) Hardiness
Переглядів 422 роки тому
Did you know plants have a 'cold and hot' hardiness? So many times we don't have the 'zone' information on plant tags or even just one zone number (cold hardiness). Growers need to start including both the cold and hot hardiness zone numbers on their plant material. #landscapeshow #landscapingshow #homeimprovement Landscape School TV Merchandise www.onepurposetees.com/landscapeschooltv Landscap...

What is 'Landscape Fluff'.....and why you should look beyond it.
Переглядів 682 роки тому
A successfully designed landscape should not include the annual flowers or 'seasonal color'. We need to start looking at the 'bones' plantings.....trees, shrubs, grasses and perennials. These are the plants which return every year......the 'main base' of our landscapes. All of annuals and seasonal color are just the fluff....the icing on the cake. Fluff is great, but when the fluff is gone, it ...

I'm a Karen - Home Improvement/DIY Shows Need To Do Better
Переглядів 953 роки тому
I was called a 'Karen' the other day. Why? Because I made a comment about a major safety issue on a home improvement/DIY television show preview on social media. It seems like any non-positive comment we make these days we are labeled a 'Karen'. Well, I hate to break it to you, but not everything you see on TV, streaming and social media is correct when it comes to these types of shows/projects...
Right Plant, Right Place, Right Space - Part 1
Переглядів 2233 роки тому
I have seen a lot of incredible landscape projects, especially when it comes to hardscapes (patios, pergolas, kitchens, fireplaces/firepits, pools/spas, etc.), however, the one universal thing I see is plant material that is improperly designed. The biggest mistakes designers make is not taking into consideration the plant's mature size in both width and height....and.....spacing them properly ...

Trimming Transformation Winter Update - Burning Bush Tree
Переглядів 1,5 тис.3 роки тому
Almost 2 1/2 years ago, I trimmed this (once, full to the ground) Dwarf Burning Bush into a multi-trunk ornamental tree on one of the other videos. This is a Winter update as of January 2021 to see how it is doing. Dwarf Burning Bush actually get about 10'-12' high and wide and can make a nice small multi-trunk ornamental tree...of course they are great for privacy, as well, if they are nice an...

Landscape School TV - Trimming Transformation: Burning Bush Tree
Thank you
I think it's personal preference. I cut mine down in the fall. Avoid the mess.
This bush is on the invasive list
I have a similar burning bush that has become very large, woody and with a leafless interior. I’d heard that the bush could be cut level with the ground and it would regenerate back to a bush. Is this true? Thanks.
Need a pic of this a year later please
Sir much better if you cut the top and edge of its branch leaf in the same shape.
respect to the toad 👍
Beautiful work!
I can’t believe someone that owns a house that big would sit there whinging about branches sticking in the back of there head & wouldn’t take the 30 seconds it takes to cut it back & instead call a professional gardener to cut that back. This is literally mind blowing. It’s like calling someone to come to your house to get a beer out of the fridge!
(This showed up on the retaining wall video.....I am guessing you were commenting on the Patio Privacy video???) Anyway...lol....yea, I think they were more stumped as what to do because they were planted so close (the nursery told them how far off the patio to plant them). I let them know they needed moved back off the patio more and the bed expanded....BUT.....many of my clients don't listen and just keep 'dealing with it'. They will probably continue to shear them into 'balls'.
Beautiful! But, wow, that red bud is spectacular!
I finally got motivated enough to do this to mine after watching this video.
REEEEDDDDD. why you not showing it in the fall!!!!
It actually never turns red....just light pinkish white, because it is in dense shade. I have 5 others in the back of the property (in shade) that never get red either. 😔
I prefer it all bushy - that’s ok too ☺️
Do you see how relaxed he is? He totally loves his landscaping job, very analytical and tries to solve problems that are not his. You can see that his job is very therapeutic to him. He was thinking about who has the best long term Landscape design. He's even thinking about landscape while watching TV. 🌴✴️👍
Nice bush
I have a powder puff tree that Hurricane Ian took out..but luckily I still had a lot of suckers ..they are only about 2 ft long…when should I start trying to trim it out to form a tree again? You mentioned Naples Florida in your video…I’m actually in Bonita Springs 🤗 Thank you Trish
ReD!!!
Shown it in the FALL when it's red!!!!!!
Wanted to see someone turn a bush into a tree, not a frog lose his home ;(
Show IT RED!!!
Guy literally gave it the same haircut he has 🤣🤣🤣
I need to cut in a bald spot! 😅
Truly "Rotten" 😔 Ppl are just mean, and obviously wasn't taught manners! I pray for you. O Heavenly Father, Bless and teach this man, my brother, how to be more like our Lord Jesus Christ, to have compassion for his neighbors and to always have regard for others feelings, because you never know what state the next person is at, that person may be severely depressed, you never know. If my prayer doesn't get through to him, show him how to be kind and thoughtful of his surroundings. I know that I am too, a lowly sinner, and by all means, not perfect. Look to me with Grace Abba, teach me also to be more like our Sacrificial Lamb, Our Loving Saviour. I also ask, O Blessed Mother come and help us pray, teach us how to pray, with an open heart, a true heart. May a drop of blood of Jesus always protect us. Protect this man also. I pray for u to give him a new heart, a heart of fire, love and compassion. A wonderful gift of the Spirit. In the name of Jesus Christ. Amen! 🌟🙏🌹❤️🔥✝️
I apologize for him. That was extremely rude. 😔
Savage
Stop playing and show it in the fall when it is red.
That thing is fing huge.... too bad you didn't have a video of it red
I think we should simply start our own channel, focusing on true design, in and out.
Sounds like a plan.....we should chat!
Great information, as always!
Beautiful transformation
Awesome transformation
Thanks!
Could this be done mid to late summer?
Burning bush are beautiful for a short period in the Fall with all its glorious red leaves. it is known as an invasive shrub. I would like to know if you timed yourself for how long it took you. Great job.
It shouldn’t take a child getting hurt to fix issues that are noted. As a home owner I know about these codes.
And P.S. I have gone full “Karen”. What you posted was not even close to “Karen”.
Lot's of good info here! Some people just can't take constructive criticism and have to get all offended at well intentioned comments.
I am so in to lighting. My burning bushes will definitely get a big haircut!
Thank you... This was so helpful! I have large landscaping beds in the front and back of my house that I just don’t know what to do with. Starting from scratch because the previous owners made several of the mistakes you covered in this video. Your snack cake comparisons were really funny also. Looking forward to Part 2!
It's called 'visual interest' = plants/shrubs in winter. Have you ever shown how to prune old lilac bushes? All the videos cut them down to nothing. What if you just want to cut them back? How far back can you go? or, how much a cedar bush/hedge can be cut back Good for you for showing love for your wife!!
I am SO HAPPY that technology was on your side Saturday and Sunday. I know how it can be when it fails. I obviously depend on technology, and if it fails...pretty much I do as well. Wanted to thank you SO MUCH for mentioning me. It was great to be able to have more than a five-minute conversation. Being able to get to know you and your wife was a true blessing and I look forward to many more conversations and time together.
Yes...technology. A blessing and a curse at times! Definitely looking forward to some more conversations, possibly working together and of course, we are both speaking at the Tuscarawas County and the North Canton Home and Garden Shows right???
@@landscapeschooltv I would have loved to, but I do not think that I made the list for this year. I will check to see if it is still possible. I figured those speakers had already been lined up.
Good advice!
Nice video! I'm glad my surprise guest appearance didn't screw it up! I like the grasses in the winter too!😘
Looks beautiful
Is it ok to cut my burning bushes that are about 8ft tall down to 5ft in the fall here in Massachusetts ( New England) ? will the leafs come out the following summer and fall if I attempt this ?
I agree with you about lighting! It gives the garden a whole new look and why not! Do you like solar or wired?
Did you notice the burning bush have seeds? Normally put seeds in a bag like in the fall. Like around the middle of September at the end of September.
SHUT AND SHOW HOW TO TRIM THE FREAKIN" TREE!!!!!
Thanks for the suggestions of other plants also. Great info!
I realize I'm kinda randomly asking but do anyone know of a good site to stream newly released movies online?
@Ezra Gavin I use Flixzone. You can find it by googling :)
@Kason Nikolas yea, have been watching on Flixzone for months myself :D
@Kason Nikolas Thank you, I went there and it seems like a nice service :D Appreciate it!
@Ezra Gavin You are welcome :D
Great video with helpful information. Many thanks!
Good looking tree...may get something similar for a spot in my yard that needs a small bush or tree. Was thinking burning bush, but I already have 4 of those.
I just put up a burning bush trimming video...I may do this one day. When's the best time?
Probably early spring or late winter for the best time, especially here in Ohio. Depends on where you are at but typically the cooler months of the year are better in my opinion. The hotter the weather, the more stress you put on the plant. I have an update on this one coming soon!
@@landscapeschooltv Great, thanks. I'll sub..interested in that update :)
Very cool dude. How is looking now a days? Any updates?
Updates coming soon....next week hopefully!
Not sure you’re done. What about pruning top to a less dense, lace-like effect? Would that increase water shoot risk? Do Burning bush water sprout easily? You mention magnolia & pruning one like this in one season would result in major water sprouts. Thanks for the video.
Hi Maria! Update coming very soon. Yes......there are some suckers!
This video gave me college flashbacks. Not very many commercial real estate brokers with a horticulture degree. LOL
I bet I can do a site analysis on all your properties and help you guys reduce your maintenance costs......just sayin'!
Could be one of the next episodes!
Very informative!
