Welcome to _Harajukucore!_ Hanabie (Ha-na-be-eh) refer to their distinct sound as Harajukucore, a mix of metal, punk, electronic, pop, and rap. The name comes from the Harajuku district in Shibuya, Tokyo which is famous for its trendsetting street fashion, music and art scene. You can definitely see and hear those influences in the video. Hanabie are Matsuri - guitar, vocals, compositions. Yukina - clean and harsh vocals. Hettsu - bass and chorus. Chika - drums. 'Pardon me, I have to go now' is Hanabie's indictment of the Japanese office grind. Matsuri (vo/gtr.) is being buried under paperwork. Sae (dr.) tried to take a break on the roof, but the boss tracked her down. Hettsu (bass) is reduced to being a servant and bringing the boss tea. Yukina (vo) is obviously being harassed by the boss. The ladies are then "forced" to go to a drinking party after work with the boss. The little "peck on the ground" dance is mocking the fact that you have to bow to superiors constantly, making you look like a chicken pecking on the ground. Interestingly, that little dance section went super viral on tiktok and is part of the reason the video has 7 million views in one year. This was the last video with their old drummer, Sae. You kept brining up Limp Bizkit which was comically apropos since Hanabie opened for them during their Australia and Asia tour last November. Here's a link to a great 10-minute interview with the Hanabie while they were in Connecticut touring North America. - ua-cam.com/video/PCWYQ31Es2U/v-deo.htmlsi=-OsqfvsAQA2WQhk4 A few song recommendations for you - 'We Love Sweets', 'NEET GAME', 'Envy', 'Tousou' (run away), and 'Otaku lovely Densetsu' Thanks for checking out Hanabie ❄🌸

Ok, you asked for it. BAND-MAID - Hard rock + punk, metal, pop, blues, funk, etc. 'Puzzle' live, 'Blooming' music video, 'RINNE' mv Hanabie - Harajukucore, a mix of metal, pop, rap, punk, electronica and a little bit of everything else. 'We Love Sweets', 'TOUSOU', 'NEET GAME', 'Envy' The Warning - Hard rock band out of Mexico comprised of 3 sisters. 'Evolve' live MTV music awards, 'Automatic Sun' music video, 'Dust to Dust' Live at Lunario. Nemophila - Metal & much more. They dabble in a little bit of everything. 'Rise' or 'Dissension' are a good place to start. 'Zen' live is heavy & 'Style' mv for fun. Saiseiga - A metalcore band with an amazing vocalist. 'Jumble', 'Hanabi', or try 'Sink' for something more ballad-ish. Banshimoku - Punk, funk, and more. 'Spanky Alien' was my introduction to the band. Otoboke Beaver - Straight-up punk. 'Don't Light My Fire' has one of the best, yet most simple, videos I've ever seen. DOLL$BOXX - Metal, electronic, pop, funk, etc. 'Take My Chance', 'Shout Down', 'Monopoly' Sokoninaru - They play, uh... _super_ technical everything. you'll just have to watch the video. 'Tenohira De Odoru' Maximum the Hormone - Metal, plus fifteen other genres. Sometimes in the same song. 'Yoshu Fukushu' is a good place to start. Asterism - Prog metal 3 piece instrumental band. Hal-Ca's guitar skill will explode your brain, 'Gunfire' live session, 'Church' live session. 'Dawn' live LOVEBITES - Power/thrash metal. 'Holy War' live, 'Thunder Vengeance' live, 'Stand and Deliver (Shoot'em Down)' music video Gacharic Spin - Rock, electronic, funk, pop, metal. 'Mindset' mv, 'I Wish I' mv, 'Redline' live. Trident - Rock, metal, pop. Another killer 3-piece band. 'Spoopy' mv, 'Ambivalent' live, 'Continue' mv, 'Cry Out' mv Plenty more bands if you finish this list. I left BAND-MAID and Hanabie in there because you haven't heard those song recommendations yet.

“Ha-Na-Bi-Eh” (花冷え : はなびえ) are Yukina (Vo.), Matsuri (Gu., Vo.), Hettsu (Ba., Vo), and more drummers than Spinal Tap. They are very exciting, and I’m very happy that they are introducing Metalcore to a new generation of listeners. It’s boring to listen to you rattling off the names of bands you listened to 30 years ago. WE LOVE SWEETS, REIWA MATCHING GENERATION, and TOUSOU (sounds something like “toe-sew”, or “tow-sow”) are waiting for you. Have you heard the five female musicians from Japan who call themselves LOVEBITES? Try HOLY WAR, live. You’ll be name dropping for six minutes.

Hanabie is extremely talented at genre flips, time changes and some really heavy riffs (often behind cute vocals). They are loosly modeled after Maximimum the Hormone (Hanabie used to be a cover band). MTH is a very influentaial & popular older band in Japan. If you want some craxy genre flips, check em out. You've seen Band-Maid & Hanabie, now it's time for Nemophila & Lovebites (One of the best metal bands I've ever seen). The Japanese metal/rock scene is incredible as a whole.

What I find interesting is that Americans keep wanting to say that the music is this or that or the other thing, I think because we've been conditioned to find a place to file the music for the way we've been used by the industry. In Japan, however, I think it's much simpler. They just use whatever feels good here or there, making completely new music because they don't give a damn what we call it. This allows them to make new music, while in America we're dying to fit.

Band-Maid has done a few anime themes: "Glory", "Sense", "Different", "Shambles", "Corallium", and "Protect You". For Band-Maid, they call their maid outfits their 'Battle Armor' and they call their concerts 'Okyu-ji" or 'Servings' according to their "Maid Café" theme. Mid concert the rhythm guitarist leads the audience in "Omajinai Time" (Magic Time) where she has the audience shouting out a magic spell (basically cheerleading) to bless the concert, meanwhile, the rest of the band is trolling her in various ways. This band has a fierce sense of humor that offsets how seriously they take their music. The joke is that these 5 cute maids are unexpectedly beyond anything you might imagine them to be. To give their vocalist a break, they do instrumentals. "Onset" and "From Now On" are both awe inspiring. This is a band you have to see live. They not only perform at a high level of musicianship, their showmanship nails it everywhere on the planet. I saw them last May in Detroit. I had a group of Argentinians moshing next to me who had flown in specifically to see Band-Maid in a small club. During a break the lead vocalist was asking the audience how far they had come to see them. One guy had come from Japan and another from Ireland. When touring Japan they regularly see people who've flown in from the Americas, Australia, and Europe just to see them. Yes, they are THAT GOOD that you can simply pick songs at random from their catalog and you will not be disappointed. And they're not a 'one-trick-pony', like many Japanese bands, they mix and match genre and they do all of them well. If you want Japanese bands that do crazy and shocking, Try *Maximum The Hormone* or *Hanabie.* they mix it up in blender and produce miracles. Try "A.L.I.E.N." or "We Like Sweets". Another band that puts the Japanese spin on Heavy metal is all female *Nemophila* -try there song "Oiran"

They are home grown and not "Baby Metal" Japanese music industry created. The rhythm guitarist worked at a Maid Cafe and had a dream od dressing like maids and playing hard rock music. She found the guitarist on UA-cam and she worked with the drummer and the drummer went to Tokyo school of music with the bassist. They needed a stronger vocalist and found the lead vocalist through their record label and the rest is history. The best Hard Rock band you never heard of.

Great reaction guys. BAND-MAID have a 130+ song catalogue. Not a band song there, although obviously you will like some more that others. That last video was from the finale of their 10th anniversarry tour at Yokohama arena last November, their largest concert to date. Yokohama arena has 17,000 capacity, not full but a hellava lot of fans their from all over the world. I subscribed to the livestream of it and it was fantastic. They played for more than 3.5 hours and a 33 song set list, hard rock, ballads, acoustic, punky, some almost metal, solo vocals and piano from the vocalist Saiki. The guitarist Kanami is their main composer, but has no selfish ego, she writes a song and puts it out to her band mates to add to and amend. She always writes songs that allow her band mates to shine (often I think restraining herself, often short but sharp solos). You may have noticed the bass is usually featured way up front, not surprising as Misa is such a great bassist. Same members as when they started 2013. I admire the way they have worked, they have done it the old traditional hard way, constant touring at home and in Europe and the USA. Playing very small venues, driiving themselves about and carting their equipment about. Because of this they have honed their craft and are a very tight band, both musically and personally, they (unlike a lot of western bands) are the best of friends. Better stop or I will come across as a fanboy!! Oh other Japanese bands to check out are Nemophila, Lovebites, Gacharic Spin

Roger Chance and the carrier pigeons strike again. Guys, if start reacting to Band-Maid, someone will give you a full rundown on the band, it's history, it's members, and their huge fandom called the Maidiacs. A lot of us are old geezers who have fallen back in love with rock because of the VERY talented young Japanese females. The will defy each and every rock genre because they create their music often incorporating more than one genre into a song. Now, I suggest you listen to two recently released songs, "Hate?", the official live video, and "Bestie", the official music video. Another note, Band-Maid and The Warning recently did a two-man concert in Tokyo. During their time together touring Japan and practicing, the collaborated on a song titled "Show Them", which will be released on Band-Maid's upcoming album. They performed the song together for the first time at the end of Band-Maid's set during the concert. Believe me, it's a hard rock banger. There was a bootleg video of the live song on UA-cam which was quickly taken down and the people who showed it were given copyright strikes.

If you want something wild, yeah there are some. Of course they are rock-core, so there's no metal growl, but you can still hear gritty rock voice here and there. And it has to be live version if you want to hear Saiki's "grit". Their recent fast and chaotic style songs have explosive drums (still with multiple rhythmic patterns make you engaged), Moratoriam has deep purple/ac/dc vibe but with multiple elements of different genres. Their instrumentals are amazing too.

These are three songs very representative of their live performances. Band-Maid is a band that composes its own music, drawing inspiration from the classic hard rock of the 70s and 80s but giving it a modern sound by adding different kinds of rock but also blues, jazz, funk etc. They are increasingly asked to do anime songs (Glory, Sense, Different, Shambles) which is a great mark of recognition. The song Protect You for the Grendizer anime will be officially released on July 5. Thanks guys.

There's nothing wild about them except for how wildly good they are. If you want to get more of a sense of "the gap", as they call the contrast between their maid look and their music, look for the video of them performing at Lollapalooza last year and watch through their opening instrumental, From Now On. A lot of people in the crowd probably had no idea they were going to get their faces melted by Japanese maids.
