In this episode i wanted to keep you up-to-date on the projects that i am working on. I am constantly in hustle on how to make it easier to film myself using the canon eosm & magic lantern. Nailing or missing the focus is quite problematic when using fast lenses...at low f-stops like 1.4,1.3,0.95,0.80 it's quite easy to miss the focus or have partial focus on subjects and not being able to fine...

Wonderful! Can you please give a link?
A link to what ?😉
@BudgetCineMagic So where can I buy the materials you use? :) I want to try it too. 👏
@@fatihturan4677 The lens is Revuenon Autofocus 50mm F1.7 - it's a vintage lens so you have to search on the market around you in thrift shops, vintage lens&cameras stores, bazzars or online...as it has a pentax mount you need an adapter from pentax PK to eosm, i bought from fotga for 10$.As you saw it i did only a test a beta testing with wires ant switches to see if it works so no wireless controler yet but when the project will be finished i will have all the materials and provide some links!
Hey! This is amazing, I have an unbranded C-Mount 10-100mm motorized lens! But I have to reduce the flange distance and understand the electronic side of the lens first. Would you. be down to do a few calls and see if you understand it better? If we live close enough we could even consider sending you the lens and doing the project together. Cheers!
Thanks! I am really exited with this project now i have to make it work with a remote controler and then i will continue with the fujinon c-mount motorized lens thet i have presented togeather with this revuenon motorized lens. I think that if you follow my work with the fujinon tv zoom lens you wil lhave the necessary information to be able to transform your lens and use the advantages of motorized focusing and zooming plus if i will succeed in the remote controlling system then you will be able to implement on your lens also and this is game changer because budget wise i'ts extremely low!
@ amazing! I will keep my eyes peeled!
@@nicemirko 👍🙏🤝
Congratulations, great result. this is truly a game changer😊👍👍👍
Thank You My Friend! I'm very exited with this project. If I can control it remotely than that's changing everything in solo filming on canon eosm & magic lantern!
If I use autofocus lenses, I use spot autofocus via Zoom. For me, this is much more convenient, especially if I need to quickly focus. If I have a staged video and have time to focus, I use manual focus with focus peaking
Yes absolutely, zoom in focus and you have it but if you don't have autofocus just manual one and you want to film youeself :-) how would you do? How can you nail the focus on you, taking into the consideration the fact that you are not at 1meter from your camera but 2 or 3 meters away...how you make sure that you are in focus when you push the record button on canon eosm ex. and you rush back at the place where you think you were in focus...? 😉
@BudgetCineMagic I rarely take shoot of myself and it’s mostly staged shooting and I know the distance exactly) Your format needs a more convenient tool, I’ll follow your project
Useful information will need to try. I almost always shoot at ISO100. I also know that ML has a double native iso, but I haven’t tested it
Yes indeed has the dual ISO but why i do not use it is because it is not practical & time consuming. Ex. when dual ISO activated in ML the screen/monitor preview is full with vertical lines, strep's so is not usable, we cannot see anything...that's a big no for me, secondly having the dual ISO activated when recorded RAW in MLV it doubles or even triples the time of processing the mlv to prores or dng...that's lot of time and energy wasted...but the darkframe subtraction is effortless and is quite ok 😉🍻
Hey! Just a suggestion in case you want it. You have very valuable information scattered all round your videos. I think a basic form of scripting could help you get to more people and be clearer with what you want to say. Cheers!
Thank You! I appreciate your suggestion!Cheers !
hello sir, nice tests, keep the good work! I'm also doing some tests with alternative lenses (tv lenses, old VHS cancoder lenses, etc) because the new ones are too much expensive, and because I enjoy doing adaptations also...I got a parfocal here from some old cancoders, very interesting, I'm trying to adapt. My question is..... I've found a Navitar here in my country for about 120 dolars, do you think that worth the money? and this Navitar will be cover the whole sensor? can I use the 3x3 1080 with this one? thanks
Hi there! In order to make it work with your Canon EosM the Navitar 50mm you have to modify the adapter ring here's a video where i am showing how much i had to modify the adapter ring to bring the Navitar lens closer to the sensor ua-cam.com/video/9xoXAUma0dI/v-deo.html I have to check out the 3x3 mode as i personally do not use it I mainly use the 1X3 mod with presets like 5.2K 14Bits,4.5K14Bits,4.8K14Bits or 1X1 mod with the presets 3K14Bits,2.8K14Bits,2.5K14Bits but haven't used at all the 3X3 mod... Regarding to the price $120.00 seems ok but that depends on the condition of the lens and i really recommend mostly for low light situation where you can use the f0.95 if you are recording in day light the Navitar is not a must theres far more cheaper 50mm vintage lenses that will give you the same result or even better on a daylight but in low light is the king!
Good content by the way, keep sharing your thoughts and impressions, this is valuable for us.
It's great that you tried for us.
Yes I work hard but at the end i'm happy when a see the results!!🤝
Super excited to see how it turns out! Been watching every video you put out, thanks for sharing!
Thank You! I really Appreciate It!🤝🍻
Hello where to buy this lens
Try on ebay or other sites that are selling old cctv cameras :-) I bought mine on a local bazaar site just searching on vintage cctv surveillance cameras and saw on one this lens....
I tried the adapter on Canon r body first. I think only focusing within 5m will be available because the Flange Distanceis about 2mm short.😂 If possible, i will cut the mounting plate of the lens.🧐 And I'm faced with a new problem. I also have a Canon eos m2. The m2 can't be photographed without a chip. Is there a solution?😢
I do not understand quite...you have a canon R and want to use C-mount lenses on it? and the second part "And I'm faced with a new problem. I also have a Canon eos m2. The m2 can't be photographed without a chip. Is there a solution?😢" the "m2 can't be photographed without a chip" what that means??? I think there's a language barrier here can you explain a little bit more simpler but detailed what are your specific problems :-) if i understand i will try to guide you to solution!😉
@@BudgetCineMagic Oh, I'm sorry.😅 I modified the adapter to mount the corresponding lens on Canon EOS R7, but the flange distance was incompatible. I'm also using the Canon EOS M2, but I encountered a major issue: the adapter ring doesn't have a confirmation chip, so I can't take pictures.
@@PhotoKnightKim for rf mount you can udse this kin of adapter kipon.de/shop/adapter/mechanische-adapter/c-mount-eos-r/ and if nee make it thiner but normally would work and secondly if in the canon eosm2 in the settinggs you overoll te fact to aloud use or release shutter withouth card or lens. Hope this helps...
@@BudgetCineMagic Thanks to you, I discovered that the EOS M2 settings are really hidden deep inside
thanks for the information, I want a Helios 44-2 for its interesting bokeh
Yes Helios 44-2 is really nice vinatge lens that has a very particular nice bokeh! 👍👍
Is infinity focus okay too? I got a lot of information in your video. Thank you.
After modifying the adapter ring from C mount to Efm mount yes infinite focus is working fine. Here's the videos where you can see how and what modification I had to make on the adapter ring ua-cam.com/video/SPHa1DX8iUs/v-deo.html , ua-cam.com/video/9xoXAUma0dI/v-deo.html
@@BudgetCineMagic I recently got this lens, and your video provided the most up-to-date information. Thank you so much👍👍👍👍
@@PhotoKnightKim You're Welcome My fellow Videographer!🤝
Hi! Im struggling to find a C lesns with good aperture (1.8 or so). i got one from a cctv camera, but would like to try one from a cinema camera if possible. fgot any recommendations? I bought one Vintage Kinotel Lens C F:2.9 1-1/2 8mm Movie Camera Lense Japan from ebay but sadly it is a D mount so no use :(
I've been on that path also, didn't researched it well & bought an 8mm vintage cine camera with 4 lenses all being D-mount lenses. There's a possibility to buy and adapter ring from C mount to D mount but still you will have a lot of vignetting. I recommend lenses from old vintage cine cameras for 16mm film, so if any lens that has been on a 16mm film video-camera then it has a C mount (but not always because there are other mounting systems used back in d the 60-70 not only C mount) . On the other hand lenses for 6mm or 8mm cine video-cameras are having generally D -mount. Here's a couple of my videos presenting vintage cinema lenses from 16mm video cameras: ua-cam.com/video/QSle8XP8WlE/v-deo.html , ua-cam.com/video/y5oxzMJ4tjY/v-deo.html , ua-cam.com/video/NEuAwR4Li2s/v-deo.html

@@mrmerezz You're Welcome!🤝 All of them are my favorites...🙂 because they are different in focal length and is hard to choose, to pick only one...
It's very interesting, thank you for the C mount related videos. Currently, I just have a 22mm pancake and a TTartisan 35 mm lens for my EOS-M, and not a lot of time to use them unfortunately…
You're Welcome! Yest the most important is to use them as much as i can :-) i really try to use the canon eosm on a daily basis.
Marvelous mod! I’m definitely doing this! Great to see a fellow Navitar fan. Thank you!
You're Welcome! 🙂🍻🤝
Lovely video! I’ve got the 50mm f0.95 too. But I thought that the rear was too flat to fit into a c mount adapter. How did you do it?
Here you have these two videos where you can see how I modified the adapter ua-cam.com/video/SPHa1DX8iUs/v-deo.htmlsi=5d_9YEDMNdXCnLv0 and ua-cam.com/video/9xoXAUma0dI/v-deo.html 😉
@@BudgetCineMagic Brilliant! I don’t know why I didn’t think of that. I had to perform a similar hack on an adapter for MFT. I chopped it even smaller. I’m definitely going to bust out the Dremel and try this myself for my EOS M. Thank you for your work!

Thank You my Friend! Indeed it is! And it's extremely easy to frame the shot and change it by zooming in and out as we do not loose focus nor apeture f stop!😉🙏🤝🍻
@@BudgetCineMagic yes, it’s incredibly convenient, I’ve been looking for this lens but haven’t found it yet :)
hello - thank you for your video - its a good help to me as i am a beginner - i am using canon eos m with magic lantern but i am only able to record video for about 15 seconds - i have a extreme pro 128gb sd card - 4.2k and raw video 640x1080 - anything else only gives me 2 seconds recording - could you share some of your settings please - thank you
I hope you have put picture format to Raw only. Also anamorphic modes are stable. otherwise you can also try decreasing the bit to 12 bit or 10 bit. That will help a lot to get longer time.
I advise you to take the time and watch this video and make sure that you have done all the stages correctly from beginning till the end( included on the preparation of the sd card and all setups before insalling magiclantern and cropmood and after installing cropmood) . If it needs You should consider to do a new magiclantern installation. Here's my video and check out the video that i am following ua-cam.com/video/MzsjwQ5pWdY/v-deo.html

As another c-mount enthusiast, I've been enjoying your channel. It seems like you have a new lens to talk about every day! And you got an amazing deal on that lens. For the slimmest adapter possible, you could try getting an M42 to EF-M adapter, and then screw an M42-to C-mount adapter within it. The result is a pretty flat adapter for wide-base c-mount lenses. It is still not a perfect solution. I think that replacing the entire mount would be a better solution, like this person has done for M43: ua-cam.com/video/GELjo4dtQ_c/v-deo.htmlsi=pWSZE9Ax8Squh_YH
Hi Nick! Yes i'm a vintage and c-mount lens addict...every day i see sellers that are selling c-mount lenses for 4-10-15$ so how can I resist?! M42 is very far from the sensor with C-mount the back glass of the lens has to be just a few millimeters away from the sensor as they are at the cctv cameras or vintage 16mm video cameras the back of the lens almost touches the sensor, with this latest lens the 50mm with the f0.95 is the same problem with these "slim" c-mount to efm mount adapters the backside of the lens is still to far from the sensor so now I am sawing it down, girding it down to make somehow that the back-lens gets closer to the sensor...
