I was actually raised in Hamilton on the mountain. I got a catalina 30 mk2 sailboat. I sail solo mostly. Best wishes. Currently in cornwall Ontario. U pass by it on the saint lawrence seaway towards Quebec locks.
@@MethosFilms We only got as far as Brockville going that way! Have you ever thought about just heading out to sea with your Catalina? Thanks for reaching out!
I plan on sailing the Atlantic next summer.
@@MethosFilms that answers my question about taking your Catalina out to sea! ⛵ It'll be a beautiful experience going out the saint Lawrence I'm sure.
Hello from a fellow Canadian sailor. Wish u all the best. Subscribed
@@MethosFilms thanks for watching! And for the subscribe!
lower in the water the faster you go never heard of that one is it a sail boat issue only or the type of hull and sail set up i have been on lake ontario when she decides she wants to have a sudden and very bad day even with the sun out warm day but waves going over the bow clear up and over the helm windows and clear over to the aft deck on a 42ft sedan cruiser back in mid 1976 summer we had a rough time from pickering to trenton that day the boat looked like a small bomb went of inside we had my grand parents over from England and they had never seen a lake like this and how high the waves can get and the shear size of the lake i was 13yrs then and learned how to respect the great lakes great info for people who want to have a sail boat and what to do keep it up
To this day, my worst sail has been on Lake Ontario. We've had some great sails on the lake, don't get me wrong. But the worst waves and the only time I've been scared so far, was crossing from Kingston to Oswego. And yeah, I think what Chris was saying was that we'd surpassed our hulls top speed... From that point the aft dips lower. Some boats have been sunk while being towed because the towing boat is towing too fast for the towed boats top hull speed... So they start sinking.
Love that early start into the sunrise. Awesome cruising stuff that not many people get to experience. Can U tell it's a full moon currently n I'm ranting on yr cool Adventure!!
Alright enough Dough for the whole club yr awesome!
@@brucehartnett8709 heehee thanks Bruce
Great fix on the furler length gotta keep the sails tight. Cheers!
Ahoy! Another great episode! New docks at Frenchman's Bay YC looks super. Surrounding area is very cool. Look forward to more of yr adventures. Just got out to anchor here full moon Oct 17th great wind earlier warm for a few afternoons so givin it while can. Hope yr East Coast transiting south going well. Freakin awesome n crazy for U all at once! Cheers!!
@@brucehartnett8709 that's awesome you got out for another anchor!! ⚓ The moon was beautiful
Thank you for a Great video this week. And the Roosters name is Hai Hai or Hay Hay. I can't spell it. Lol. Oooo? Did ya'll get the engine fixed? And did ya'll make the Boat show? Ok until next time, Aloha from the Big Island of Hawaii! Aloha and cheers 🍻
Nice boat Bayfield.
I don't understand why your leaving, with issues with your motor, but as they say,no guts,no glory
Well, lots of places to pull in along Lake Ontario... boat work never ends really, and if you don't just GO, maybe you never do.
Hey guy just came across your channel! Congratulations and looking forward to more videos. We have just spent the last 2 yrs doing the same thing. Can't wait to leave in January ourselves
That's awesome! We have met so many people who say it was the greatest experience ever .. it's been a wild adventure so far! Thanks for watching and reaching out 😁
So great to see you underway and to see an hear more from chris ❤❤❤🎉
Yes! It's nice to have a break from my voice every now and again lol 😆
Congratulations 🎊 on getting started. But if your engine is making oil 🛢 that means there is Diesel getting in your oil. That needs to be taken care of Asap! That is a Very Bad thing. Ok ya'll stay safe out there. Until next time, Aloha from the Big Island of Hawaii!
@@kptbillburkett8735 hey Bill! Thank you very much. Yes for sure it is a major issue.. we get into it more next episode! Thanks for watching :) hope everyone is doing okay over there on the Big Island 🏝️ Aloha!
Well done guys… hopefully your are still clear of Florida’s hurricane..
@@andrewmckay7404 thanks Andrew!! We're safe from hurricanes still. No worries 😁 but it's starting to get cold so hopefully we find a safe middle ground where we won't freeze 🥶
Hey, Congrats on reaching 1K subscribers...now that the voyage has begun I hope you grow the channel even faster in the coming months!
@@steventurner1626 thank you! It certainly is a cool milestone 😁 so is the finally leaving for the big voyage part. Hope you're well! Thanks for watching!

See you soon I hope! Haha 🥂 🍍🌺🐢
Looks like ya'll are on your way
Aloha from the Big Island of Hawaii!
Aloha!! 🌺
its much too lte but the thru hull install was not correct. You want to push them in with the 4200 on them and then tighten the nut from the inside. you DO NOT want to twist the fitting as the sealant is compromised. If it were me i would redo them next time you haul out. You also want a bunch of sealant on threads going up the threads equal to the thickness of the hull and backing plate.
We used a flanged style seacock not an inline valve which means there's no nut to turn. The thru-hull gets turned into the flanged seacock which is already mounted to ensure correct orientation. I can't imagine uncured 4200 would be compromised from this action. Thanks for looking out for us! Haven't had an issue with it yet.
Looks like he did a good job 👍
@@jenniferedwards7832 yes it was lots of work for a month
i just came across your channel. you guys will have a lot of fun with sailing life and many adventures some great some bad but keep the faith and enjoy the journey life is short so make the most of it
@@rgarizonahomestead2729 thank you very much.. that actually means a lot right now. Cheers!
Looks like hard work and dedication and delicious sandwiche to keep you going.
I guess ya'll are out sailing ⛵️ and having fun. It's ben two weeks. Here on the Big Island the Volcano 🌋 has come Back to life again. Looks Fantastic. As long as it stays on the side of the Island 🏝. Lol 😊 Ok until next time, Aloha from the Big Island of Hawaii! Oooo!?! Are ya'll Going the An app list boat 🚢 show? It would be a Great way to grow your channel and get some cool stuff, maybe free.
Hey Bill! It's been a hectic few weeks. I am working away on content though! Sorry it's been a few weeks, I'm excited to share the adventures from this summer though. I hope the volcano stays on the side away from you for sure!! But it would be cool to see 🌋 We are debating Annapolis for sure. We'll see if we're in the area by then. See you next week for the premiere!
Splashing is always a good day! Your sailboat looks great!
Thank you!! It was very nice to meet you the other day! Fair winds!
great job on that hull!
Thank you very much!!
i have never owned a Bayfield because I like speed but having been closely related to owners of a 40 I would not hessitate for a minute to take one around the world. She will take you anywhere safely and comfortably. If you do not know reversing into a slip takes a lot of practice. Fait winds.
That's really great to hear.. the part about the speed is not surprising.. we are for sure not going anywhere fast. And yes, reversing is an art with these full keeled boats! Lol. Thank you for watching.
Yaaaay. She floats. Hard work paid off. Congratulations. Happy sailing turtle people. Cheers 🍻
Yes!! On to the next part of the adventure!!
Thank You for another Great Video 📹. I remember using my wife's hear dryer to fit my Hoses on the Fittings. Worked great. Ok you can Contact the boat show and they will give you the guy to call for the Boat 🚢 show. He has his house set up for all the folks coming from around the world 🌎 to stay at his place. And the best thing is ,they all Share how do they edit videos And get advertising for there channels. And it looks like great fun. But I believe it would be a Great Opportunity to help grow your channel. And you get to meet all the Cruising community. Oooo if you have a Idea on what we should name the New Rooster 🐓 let me know. Ok until next week, Aloha from the Big Island of Hawaii! Cheers 🍻 and Aloha
Lol naming it Hayhay is out? We just watched some Moana lol. And yes! That's great advice. thank you so much. And thanks for supporting us and watching each week!
@@turtlecrossingsailing LOL! That is a Good one! Roflmao! I am going to fo that.
Awesome video… I was sitting on the beach watching the sunset and was looking forward to watching later… hopefully by now you are on your way south as the temperature on the beach is starting to drop…
Thanks for watching!! We're getting close to our goal for sure 😁

Hi we met you in Phoenix NY we hope you have fun and safe travels!!
Hey! It was great to meet you and your family! Maybe we'll see you down the river!
Love the new look of bottom paint. Let’s hope she floats and takes you to your dream voyage. Until next time. Stay safe cheers 🍻
Thank you very much!
Your boat looks awesome! So much hard work to get it in shape. Looking forward to upcoming vids. BB
Thank you very much!
When you had the fittings out,why didn't you paint the hull?
We did the barrier coat and then thru hulls on that coat... They won't adhere to the ablative.
The Boat is looking Great. Thank you for a Great video this week. Still raining 🌧 here. But should have a Great sunset 🌇 tonight. So have ya'll hit the Atlantic yet? Are ya'll going to be at the Annapolis Boat show? It is a Great place to meet other Cruisers and UA-camrs. A Great way to grow your channel. Just a thought. Ooo! And when you splash and you are under sail ⛵️ and the wind fills your sails ,The smile on your faces will take away the time on the hard. Ok until next time, Aloha from the Big Island of Hawaii! Aloha and cheers 🍻
Thanks Bill 🙂 thanks for watching and supporting us! Hope you didn't get washed away with the rain tonight!!
Hi Sarah, Chris and Will. We met you on an Island yesterday (Teri and Larry)! Excited to be following your adventure.
It was so nice to meet you guys!! Thank you for subbing!!
Because they used a Polyester resin back then. It is cheaper than Apoxy Resin. But if you can sand all of thim out and put on a Good Apoxy Barrier coat paint, It should help stop the blisters. Thank You so much for your video's. It is a Great thing to take us away from some of the things on the News lately. Ok until next time, Aloha from the Big Island🏝 of Hawaii🌋! Cheers 🍻 and Aloha
@@kptbillburkett8735 I'm glad our channel can be a positive thing to watch as a break from the alternatives... I appreciate content like that too. And yes! Hopefully the barrier coat and apoxy patches will be a solid repair for years to come.
Bpat work. It's a struggle but, it pays off in moments of peace sailing. Keep living the dream
