    smoking kills more than drowning at sea, poor ole Roger, probably life of smoking killed him, he looked so healthy in the start of series

      careful with that mindset, smoking kills then we get rid of that then being fat kills so we get rid of sugar then being old kills do we get rid of them?

    How right is Roger at 2:54 and even today Rogers words are still correct. The EU is still killing the UK and Irish fishing communities to this day.

      We all would but these boats are owned by companies and theyre always looking to charge each other for there vessels lost fishing time. Roger and his brother were always winding each other up he wouldnt expect to be paid no more than frank would expect to have to pay him but like i said the companies who own these vessels might start throwing invoices about.

      We work our guts out to make ends meet to start with and even when you do get a little bit saved (and i mean a LITTLE bit!) you get a bit of bad weather or your boat breaks down and youve got to live on that bit of savings til you can get back to sea! We never seem to make enough to pay everything let alone tax!

    where Roger said about the price varies depending how many boats have landed their catch due to the weather, the shops + supermarkets don't lower their price +these men are the ones risking their lives. These men should get a lot more money than they have.

    Absolutely wonderful!!! I built a model of the WSS for my A-Levels back in '95 shortly after the Skipper series. As a 17 year old I probably got on Stevensons wick asking questions for my project but bugger me here he is! I've looked for a copy of the Skipper on film for years, on and off as we didn't have a VCR in 93! I shall enjoy these. Must have read the book a hundred times. My old man hails from Tehidy, now north of Tamar God forgive ee. 'Ansome to find this after all these years.

    Those boats were never suitable for beaming, beaming was designed by a madman..wires and heavy stuff all over your head and wires across the deck, bloody nightmare, also the rails are so low its easy to go over the side on these boats.

    • @zerofox7347
      @zerofox7347 7 місяців тому

      I honestly don't think that's true at all. They are designed for beam trawling and most stable while doing so. They're also capable of steaming and trawling in very heavy weather. Think about how many hours these vessels log at sea successfully. The rail is low I'll agree with that.
