Definitely a nicer feeling back then. More togetherness than 2024. We had a blast.
Do you know anything about Peter tuthill and his book he was writing about the hill climb
Music sounds like it features a casio keyboard.
More completely inappropriate music from the absolute wrong era.
Why is this music so horrible?? It doesn’t go at all with a footage.
There is something different about London then and now, but I can't quite put my finger on it.
I'd say 1959
Very good, lack of diversity though...Just kidding
before britain became part of the caliphate...
Erm, have you heard of the British Empire, Tony? People in glass houses…
Footage from 1949?? My guess is early 60's. The one who has put a wrong date on it is an Italian guy. Don't believe everything you see or read. If you want to start a "historical footage" channel, do your own research please.
When Britain was Britain, Not a Muslim African country?
Yes, then again, "Muslim African" countries were "British", weren't they........
Two years later this was my first-ever foreign city visited on a schools' exchange between Belper High School and the Hindenburgsschule, Nienburg, so it's good to see something more or less contemporary therewith. I can also claim a connection with the place in which the car featured was registered, as 'EN' stands for Ennepetal, near Hagen, Hagen being one of the three cities I studied in my Final-Year Project at the University of Derby in the 1990s as a part-time mature undergraduate in Geography with German - an investigation into comparing the public transport system in and around Derby with three cities in Germany of a comparable population, the other two being Aachen and Krefeld. I spotted several 'EN'-registered vehicles around the streets of Hagen.
Absolutely NOT 1949! As other commentators have mentioned more like late 1960s.
Definitely not 1949. The senior police officer on horseback at 2.58 is Assistant Commissioner Henry Hunt who was promoted to that rank in 1969. The flag in the background indicates that the occasion was the state visit of the President of Eire, Patrick Hillery, in that year. So the footage is at least twenty years later than claimed.
Certainly unlikely to be Irish flags in 1949, as that was the date of Ireland leaving the commonwealth.
well spotter !! I saw our dear Tricolour and had tio dive in !!! Well done!! Up the Republic!!
Shame you had to ruin it with your "Watermark"!!!!!!
Have you got any films just south of the river Thames. Poorer area but a brilliant place to be brought up in. I was born in 1950.❤ Enjoyed your film clips.
Everything I own you can see here in the channel
amazing thank you.
Are you sure this dates from 1949? The Saab-92 and the Morris Oxford driving in the background are still in the Drawing Board if this is 49. The little green Austin A35 in front of Bucks Palace needs to be told he won't be designed for another 7 years. The clincher afraid is the Vauxhall Victor at 2:58, this car didn't come out until 1957. Secondly, Petrol rationing went on to well into the 1950s so it was uncommon to see so many private cars swanning around even in London. I'm also fascinated by the Irish Tricolours flying in the Mall, a very unusual event indeed. Many Thanks and sorry for being a vintage car nerd.
Yeah intrigued by all your points. Not an expert but a few of the motors did look suspiciously modern. Having said that there are an awful lot of older 1930s to 1940s era motors also. Which might look equally a little out of place in 1957 or after...... The Irish flag particularly intrigued me (as an Irishman). And is perhaps the biggest clue to the date. The first state visit to the UK by an Irish president was not until 2014. So that's not it. However in 1949, the Ireland Act which recognised the Irish Republic which was officially declared by the Irish government itself in 1948 was passed by Westminster. Would that cause Irish flags to fly? I wonder, but I cant think of any other event in that entire era that would trigger it. That does add to the idea of 1949 as a date. Alas it doesn't explain the modern cars you pointed out....
@@fiachramaccana280 I'm afraid the Vauxhall Victor definitely places it after 1957. It wasn't unusual to see many older looking cars driving around in the early 1960s. The Second world war halted commercial motorcar development for nearly 8 years. Basically the models that were being made in 1939 were still made after the war up until the mid 1950s and most of those went for export to try to boost the home economy. The London Taxis have aways looked old fashioned, especially the old Beardmores that didn't really change for 25 years. Purchase tax at between 33% to 66% made cars really expensive so people who could afford one kept it going as long as possible, you didn't have to worry about emission controls back then. My Father had a 1934 MG and he kept that until 1957 when it had to sell it to buy my Mum and Engagement Ring.
@@marklatimer7333 yup. Just need to solve the flag hehe
@@marklatimer7333 That's why I thought I'd watch the video to see if that thumbnail featuring a Vauxhall Victor (FA) was not representative of the content as my initial thought was, "Are you sure???" As it transpired it was part of the footage and I would say that the year described in the title is not just out by the odd year or so, rather, more like possibly a whole decade, which is not good at all, certainly if this channel is what looks like a commercial venture. It would have been welcome had there been a closer look at the Beefeater to see if he was emblazoned with 'GR VI' or 'ER II' for a definite confirmation that this was really 1949 or a then-future year.
I think the solution to the paradox of 1957 cars being seen in 1949 is that this film consists of footage taken over a number of years, so sadly the 1949 in the title is no more than partially correct, at best.
Absolutely beautiful. People were a lot better dressed back then although there was still a lot of austerity in postwar Britain. Those Dutch tourists were so picturesque in their national costume.
Bellos recuerdos de esa familia.
Swiss (?) delegation at the *VII International Trade Conference of Transport Workers* (Moscow, September 25-30 1977). Stayed at "Sputnik" hotel 02:04 ; places of interest: VDNKh 02:48, snowing Red square 08:09, Kalinin prospekt (now Novy Arbat st.) 11:42. On 12:37 "Avrora" and Smolny cathedral in *Leningrad,* then - Moscow again: 13:13 Moscow State University building, 14:36 Triumphal Arch on Kutuzov avenue and 14:48 Sheremetyevo International terminal nicknamed "Glass" (demolished now).
Places of interest in Moscow and 10:27 a panoramic view from their room in the hotel "Leningrad" in Leningrad. But I am more curious what was run on TV during their posing on camera...)) And please pay attention that black-and-white footage 23:31 to the end here (and also in your clip entitled *Soviet Union Trip in 1981 Archive Footage* ) could be shot *in summer 1984* (on 25:27 zoom on the ads of "АВТОПРОМ 84" ("Avtoprom 84" All-Union Exhibition at VDNKh opened on August 16 1984).
Колко е било спокойно за разглеждане, а днес е лудница. Благодаря ви за видеото!
Do you have any other footage of trengwainton
No, sorry I have this one only for the moment
Excellent handling cars at the time. I purchased a then new type 51 (Ascona) in 1975 here in california. Silver/Black interior. Manual trans and sunroof with a sticker price of $4084 USD. They were fuel injected for the first and last time in '75 as the German version was no longer imported by GM. Only cars which I recall bettering my autocross times were the BMW 2002, Alfa GTV and Berlina as well as a couple of Mazda rotaries and a couple of ridiculously potent Chevrolet 'Cosworth Twin-Cam' Vega's.
La familia propietaria del Hillman Hunter hicieron este video, para los que tienen buen ojo 🧐🤓 Excelente Video!!
How’s everything going?. perfect sharing- have a good one!
Que maravilla de ciudad era en aquella época y no la porquería que ha construido y que se llenan la boca diciendo cosmopolita
Времето когато София не беше лудница.
Seeing my country so clean and tidy makes me feel like we've lost so much. No Graffiti, no trash, people are walking everywhere. It looks incredible.
Visited in the navy in 73. The beach is as I remember. Except the girl. Did catch some good fish on the beach fishing. Now I have to visit Google Maps and see how much has changed. Ps. The analog is spot on today.😊
I holidayed there in the 70's a few times. The sights, the sounds, the smells. Sadly will never be the same again...
The Zhivkov era.
Immagini del 1979/1980.
Where is Barcelona? It shows a lot of Poble Espanyol, then countryside and a church that is possibly on Tibidabo. There’s one little section of park de la ciutadela but that’s it.
Beautiful Miami back then in 1975!
i miss old disneyland so much.
Parecía una ciudad norteamericana, Lima.

Precioso video😊
This was New York in 1969.
Really, you had to put the logo in the middle of the screen???
Of course, it's the only way I can protect my job. Unfortunately the web is full of people who steal content and since this is how I make a living, it is the only way to protect the material from theft.
Bad video not good terrible music
Nada bueno, y la música horrible, mal gusto
Thank you for the upload...Very awesome footage from a long time ago!!! I wonder where this footage was taken? On a side note, not everyone knows this, but they did not always use stitched footballs in these type of games. Many teams used stitched and high quality rubber footballs. High quality rubber footballs had a soft polyurethane rubber carcass. Polyurethane rubber was a type of synthetic leather, and they came in a variations of makes starting in 1966-1967. Some had a 2 ply or 4 ply nylon wound, others had either a butyl bladder or a latex bladder. If it had 2 ply nylon wound, and latex bladder, they were extremely responsive. These were the softest (and best) soccer balls ever made IMO. Unfortunately, they were not that durable, and so they did not last very long. The 4 ply , latex bladder version was nearly as good, but not as soft, but more durable. By the mid 1970s, most polyurethane rubber soccer balls had butyl bladders and 4 ply nylon wound, and not near as soft as those with latex bladders, but still great balls none-the less. It was crucial that air pressure was maintained meticulously, especially for the 2 ply, latex bladder variants. If it was not, the ball could fail during a hard tackle, or multiply tackles in session near the pitch (which happens at least once, in every game). Today, If one could be found, I would pay as much as 1000Є for a game ball, that was made of this soft polyurethane rubber, had a latex bladder, and was used in many games from the late 1960's into the 1970's. I would not care if it was flat, badly worn, faded, etc. As long as it was still very soft, and had no dry rot, I would easily pay that much for it!
Unfortunately, all the information I have about this movie is written here. It was very interesting to discover all these things about soccer balls. In life you never stop learning. Thanks for your sharing!
