Vspeeds Boxed?
Переглядів 502 години тому
Before we takeoff, one of the things we check per the checklist is that the Vspeeds are Asterisk and "boxed". If the aircraft configuration does not match the performance computer configuration, the Vspeeds are displayed with an Asterisk but are not boxed on the menu. If speeds don't box, it means that the airplane is not ready for takeoff. Here's a video showing the information was correctly e...
FLIGHT POWER SHUTOFF
Переглядів 692 години тому
Be careful with the Flight Power Shutoff handle. Pulling that handle will take all the hydraulics away from the flight controls. The airplane could become a handful if that handle is pulled up. Pulling the handle will result in manual reversion and although the airplane can still fly, it will be like flying a truck.,,no hydraulics. In this video, I will show you how the seatbelt could accidenta...
Using OFFSET
Переглядів 18019 годин тому
Using OFFSET. Let's say you are over the Atlantic and following a larger airplane that's producing some wake turbulence. Oceanic rules allow you to OFFSET your course up to 2.0NM to the RIGHT of your course without needing a clearance to avoid wake turbulence or weather. Over the USA, you need permission from ATC (which is normally granted). The FMS (while on the autopilot) can offset and paral...
How much FUEL can we take?
Переглядів 86719 годин тому
This video will show you how the FMS can assist you in determining how much fuel you can take for a safe ALL ENGINES running departure from a High Altitude airport on a HOT day. This does NOT take the place of running a Runway Analysis (APG), as a Runway Analysis report will take an engine failure and obstacles into consideration, but it does show you how to use the FMS to help determine a maxi...
FMS: POINT/BEARING/DISTANCE
Переглядів 550Місяць тому
Sometimes ATC gives some strange instructions. Assume that ATC wanted you to fly to a particular point in space. How do you set that up and fly to that point using the FMS. You would use Point/Bearing/Distance or P/B/D. Another strange request from ATC came when I was in Van Nuys. I'm not sure of the exact clearance since it was a while ago, but I do know they wanted me to fly to a point based ...
MISSED APPROACH - GPS (BLUE NEEDLE)
Переглядів 6582 місяці тому
This video will show you how to perform a Missed Approach when doing a RNAV (GPS). There's no need to switch your navigation source from NAV (localizer based approach) to FMS since you will be in FMS (Blue needle) the entire time. Note the FLOW. The flow (below) should be memorized and chair flown until you have it down solid! MISSED APPROACH PROCEDURE (flow) 1. TOGA, Flaps 20', Go-Around (GA) ...
Gulfstream IV FLOW & Checklist (FULL VIDEO)
Переглядів 2 тис.2 місяці тому
I received a request from a pilot friend who wanted to see the flow on one full video. It's 26 minutes long so have fun Ryan. This was one of many flights over in Southeast Asia I flew back in 2022. I was a contract instructor pilot helping out a newly typed G-IV pilot. It was a fun 30-days and a great contract gig. People were amazing. The APU has been started. This is an after APU Start FLOW....
MISSED APPROACH PROCEDURE SINGLE-ENGINE (DAY VIEW)
Переглядів 1,1 тис.2 місяці тому
This is a video on the proper order and flow of executing a missed approach from an ILS on Single-Engine with me in the right seat and during the day where there's a little more light for easier viewing. The missed approach is a high workload procedure often executed incorrectly or partially incorrect. Add a single-engine aspect and the workload doubles. As many pilots already know, in real-wor...

It will maintain the offset until you cancel (delete) it.
Great explanation Capt. Question: if you are on an offset to a track and are approaching you next fix, will the autopilot redirect you to the fix, or will it maintain the offset passing by the fix until you manually reprogram the FMS and delete the offset?
I ve watched Sir, thanks🛩️🛩️🛩️
I have one. It’s there.
Thanks for the video Dan, if you make a video that how to create a flight plan to FMS will be nice for us😂
Thanks Capt
Excellent
Thanks capt!
❤
Thanks
Thank you Sir!
I appreciate your videos Sir! Please do more. I literally studied this procedure last night and watching a visual representation just makes it even clearer. Thank you!
This is the first time I'm watching your video , I must say excellent video , very well explained , clear and crisp... excellent...I've subscribed to your channel ..Thank you , from INDIA 😊
As usual very clear and useful. Thank you Dan.
Any chance of doing an LNAV/VNAV approach video Dan?
I’m sure we can arrange that for ya.
I think you need more switches.
Love your videos Dan, they’ve really helped me when I was in school and on the line.
So grateful for your videos <3!!!
Can’t be a button to turn all on at ones?🤷🏾♂️🤦🏾♂️

Turn this Universal "piece of **it"™ on. That cracked me up and made my day! Thx for the great video!
Going for my PIC type this month in the G4, your videos are terrific and helping me a lot! Thank you!!
Great to hear! Good luck.
Great video, really helpful. Going to initial next month.
Way too much work…. Select mins 940’. VNAV to the platform altitude…. Crossing GRNND V/S 1,000 FPM. NAV source is not a specific color, should be LOC…. LOC is the required NAV Source. Reaching MDA… ALT select to Missed Approach Altitude 5,000’. As an instructor and TCE…. I am looking for an applicant to accomplish the circling maneuver as a visual maneuver… not a timed maneuver. But hey… I’m old school from the good old days. But then again it’s the difference of an instructor training the true art of the circling approach as it should be accomplished versus than training a student to pass their rating/recurrent/61.58 check ride. As a check airman…. I want the PF to accomplish the circling maneuver as such… a visual maneuver from the approach to the airport to a position to accomplish a landing from the completion of the circling maneuver. Training using a timing maneuver is counter to the purpose of a circling maneuver. Bottom line negative training for the intent of the procedure/maneuver.
All good points. However, in the G4 we emphasize the use of green needle for localizer. We cover the use of VNAV on the RNAV (GPS) approach in an earlier approach. But although an experienced pilot can use the benefits of VNAV on this approach this is a localizer approach not a RNAV. The idea here was to explain the procedure going from long range navigation (which we call blue needle) and short range navigation (which we call green needle). The minimum is 1020’, not 940’. The G-IV is a Cat D airplane. Category is based on the REF speed at maximum landing weight. The GIVSP has a max landing weight of 66,000 lbs. The performance books will show a Ref speed above 141 knots which makes it a Cat D airplane. My emphasis was on how to set up and fly a localizer with a circle at the end for a new G4 pilot. Using time in the circle is a crutch. Of course, I could have went on for another 20 minutes talking about circles and visual approaches (maybe another future video) but the theme of this video was the setting up and flying a procedure turn into a localizer approach in Green (or going from long range to short range navigation). The reference to using VNAV to the FAF has merit and is another way of doing it for an experienced pilot like yourself but that’s a lot to do at a critical time on the “stabilized” approach. I’d much prefer being in green needle (or LOC as you put it) way before the FAF. It is a localizer approach, after all. Thanks for your input. I appreciate your comments. You gave me an idea for another video.
Bottom line is… make a video that’s better and makes sense like this, then come back :) Be kind.
@@KevinAround I was making fam flights to airports requiring circling maneuvers, before the iPhone was a dream, using old Beta Max / VHS hand held cameras. Back in the day Sims in the US, let alone in other parts of the world were not approved. But I thank you for your comment. Happy circling maneuvers.
@@jeffreysicular5119 It doesn't matter how long you've been instructing or flying - times are changing and so are techniques with the availability of newer technology. I agree that the timer method works in the sim but lacks any usefulness in the real world as winds aloft will change how long you should be flying that leg anyway. Flying a visual maneuver visually is fine, but much more difficult in a simulator. The visuals are nothing like the real world, especially when it comes to judging distances. Reducing this maneuver into methodical steps also makes sense since the conditions will most likely be identical between training and testing. We also don't do these maneuvers in real life flying anymore, anyone shooting a circle to land to actual minimums is crazy in my book. Way too high risk and completely unnecessary. Nearly every airport has RNAV approach to every runway these days, and if my last resort is a circle-to-land at mins, I'd rather divert somewhere that has a straight-in approach available. And don't start with the hurr-durr back in my day we used to shoot NDB approaches below mins, that's great but that doesn't mean we have to do that anymore. Technology has greatly improved, LPV approaches are so much better than any ILS even. If it were up to me, I would just yank this from our opspecs and stop training/testing circles, no advantage to it these days.
Great info well done easy to learn, any GV videos coming. Thank you
Thanks for sharing. Priceless info
Great instructional video Captain! I fly the 8000 and we have to select the nav source.
Why am I watching how to fly an LPV app the night before my pre solo stage check😂😂😂😂
Pre solo? Congrats! Just file this stuff away for your future career. Good luck... fly safe!
@@CaptainDanPalumbo thank you, my flight school is actually located in mmu, which is close to teb.
Hi, there is a change right green ldg gear bulb is broken?
I am so lucky to catch the tutorial vid,so clear to let me know how arinc works
Thanks Captn !!!!!
Great video! Thank you so much for showing the procedure
Thank you
Nice work,.Only thing I would have done differently is set the missed approach altitude (for the ILS 27) after rolling out on the parallel course, disconnected the AP and then descended manually for the landing on 18R. Technique and personal choice of course. Nice video.
The G-IV is a two pilot airplane and this approach is usually performed at night in the sim. I last performed it in the Flight Safety sim in September, 2023. However, last I heard, it was likely going to be replaced by the ILS 6 circle 1 at TEB.
True. 2 pilot crew and at night. This video was meant to show how to set up and execute the task. Hopefully you’re correct about the ILS 6, circle to 1 in TEB.
Just exactly the way you tough us how to do it...thank you
Thank you captain
Awesome, thanks for sharing! Straight forward. Is this your home sim?
Well done, don we need more of instruments app ..lm Ali Alzahrani
