Ben Stoeger vs Travis Haley Shooting with Eyes Closed
Переглядів 62811 місяців тому
Having been to a Haley Strategic course, I thought I would give my take on what Travis Haley was trying to accomplish in a recent video where he shot some rounds with his eyes closed. Ben Stoeger made a video recently where he said he'd been inundated with messages about the video and people wanted him to give his take. Ben mentioned that he didn't understand why Travis was shooting with his ey...

Is a Unity Fast Optic Riser an Improvement on a Holosun 510C?
I’m just letting people know. The shit isn’t gonna work now because of that orange paper insert that they put in the muzzle device package saying he uses class three threads that you don’t want to use a different class 3B3 whatever class two whatever type of thread
That's good info. It's definitely best to match the threads properly, but to also use lubrication when first putting it on.
That really sucks once all the said and done, the barrel itself is 1000 bucks Now be aware your fire on their most recent muzzled devices have an orange Paper that tells you the class of threads that will work with it and do not use it with that because they’re not gonna be liable as does a company that makes your hundred dollar muzzle delays thousand dollar suppressor but they wanna lose $1000 every time someone takes a chunk of threads out of the barrel course not so companies of getting even high end companies they’ve been getting very very like where they used to be like oh we could do that for you no problem or let me check. We might actually have some MK 13 hangover still are not the same as they used to be
I have almost the exact same set up on my SP-01. Same colors and everything except I went with a EPS Carry optic and a TLR-1HL. That pro package is awesome.
Thanks, there are few videos out there as thoroughly informative. Kudos !!!
You're welcome. I hope it helps
Fcd makes the best saftey selector on the market. But having purchased 2 I don’t know if the upgrade is worth the price increase
Maybe not, but they are cool
What's the price of that setup?
I had to replace the hammer spring with a good one cause the blue kept having light primer strikes
I haven't had that problem, but definitely not worth taking any chances
what the distance?
It's been awhile, but it was at least 7yds, maybe 10
Any mounts compatible with Holosun HM3X?
Unfortunately, no. I spoke to them about it too, and they don't seem to have any plans for future support. I have another setup like this, and I've mounted the magnifier on a second riser. The downsides to that is the magnifier still flips out to the side and doesn't tuck under on the same line. It's better than nothing though.
@@shofardefense it’s crazy how they have the support as long as it’s an Eotech product lol. What specific mount worked with you HM3X magnifier so that it lined up with your 510C + unity mount showed in the video?
It's just another one of the unity fast optic risers.
Nice piece, random but your voice tells me that you can make some good ribs 😂
🤣 Pretty crazy accent right
@@shofardefense yeah Forsure haha
Yes but this is gunsmithing. Isn’t it? There are licensing requirements for that right? Does that impact things like drop safety? I loved the explanation about the functioning of the gun. Hard to find on the internet in such a clear fashion. I have a Shadow 2 since May, shot probably less than 500 rounds through it, so mmmh mine will stay stock for quite some time! 😊
Licensing requirements? Your gun, you can modify it if you want, just make sure you know what you’re doing. And the Shadow 2 is not drop safe even in its unmodified factory condition, there is no firing pin block like the SP01 for example. So don’t go dropping it, especially muzzle end, it could fire.
@@aaronmcelrea8172 yeah, exactly. A gunsmith is a person knowing what their doing with a gun, or at least better than a hobbyist. As per the drop safety of the shadow 2, so far not a single source agreeing with you, apparently the gun is super safe. But then again, I am new to this, asked a couple of questions, and got the usual rough comment. Thanks
@@gregmarchegiani6656 if you did even a little research, then you know what I said is true. Don’t get mad about, just understand the safety limitations. It’s a competition gun, not for duty/carry.
@@aaronmcelrea8172 I am not mad, my country does not allow carry unless very few special cases. However I did research the topic and it seems that the simple absence of a firing pin block does not automatically render a gun “drop unsafe”. Found very informative drop test video done on a shadow two, just a few minutes ago
@@gregmarchegiani6656 that is true, it would probably not go off, but it could. Anyway, this has been fun, enjoy your CZ they are awesome.
This is a good video, thank you for taking the time to put this out.
You're welcome. I hope it helps.
What website can i look at this holster?
We haven't released them yet to the public. We're finalizing designs, testing, and streamlining our manufacturing process. They should be available soon
If barrek threads come off just from tightening a muzzle device on then its a garabge barrel no mstter the price and hype. Ive put on a million different muzzle devices and brakes and all types of everything and have never had this happening. The barrel threads had to be off. Yes school of american rifle explains the importance of chekcing whay type of threads they are
Just picked up a p01 myself, I noticed a little bit of play in the slide when wiggling it side to side… it is audible when shaking it side to side, maybe 1/32 or less of play, just curious if you see the same in your gun
My older one has quite a few rounds through it and does have a little play. My newer one has no wiggle. Both of them have been cerakoted though because they were milled for a red dot. That adds some thickness.
Cajun Gun Works is the best in the business when it comes to CZ.
Not made for that round.
Brother, thank you! Best video on this 👍🏻
You're welcome
Best goddamn pistol ever made!
I had the SAME exact experience with a brand new Surefire SOCOM MB and new Proof carbon barrel. Same issue, not tools just hand tight. I had two identical MBs. Confirmed the other installed no problem on another Proof barrel. Short story was SF denied any liability and after arguing, they eventually agreed to replace the MB but stated the device was “in spec”. Not the first negative CS experience with SF and looking at the threads on the defective MB, it was clear there were some burs that were not removed before coating.
Sorry to hear that. I'm a little surprised surefire didn't respond better just based off the experience I had with them.
I hate that it's 10 different colors of 💩 brown
That's nice. How much does it cost? Like $600 for the pistol another $600 for everything but the light and optic?
Just above $2k if I remember correct
Been there done that, but with rocksett in the mix. I now order new muzzle device for each new barrel.
The most irritating intro ever.
I’m having issues with the absolute riser. With my 510c I’ve maxed out the lowest elevation setting and it’s still too high apparently. I still have to hold the dot quite a bit above the intended target to make a hit. I’m not even using the holosun spacer on my 510c for this build either. I’m confused, because I’ve seen people run optics like eotech on the absolute riser, which sits even higher than the holosun. Unless eotechs just have that much more elevation/windage adjustability?
How close are you shooting compared to the distance you're zeroed at? There's a mechanical offset (height of optic over bore) that must be accounted for. It will change the point of aim compared to the point of impact.
@@shofardefenseyeee I’m aware, and that’s why I’ve been trying to get a re-zero of it. It just seems odd that I’ve maxed out lowering the elevation setting on my 510c and it’s still soooo high. I tried hitting at both 25y and 60y, and even at 60y I have to hold the dot almost 3” above the steel target and at that point is when it felt off to me. Maybe I need to swap out for the fast riser (the shorter riser) instead? I’m just curious how others are shooting/zeroed with optics on risers that seem much higher than the one I have set up 🤔
I see. I'm not sure what to say about that. There should be plenty of elevation adjustment available. I have this setup on multiple rifles and haven't experienced that problem. I'll check into it and if I find something out let you know.
@@shofardefensefor sure. Appreciate your time and responses. I notice you’re running the fast riser, and I’m running the absolute riser (which sits considerably higher). Maybe that’s just too high
What p-01 model is that one?
It's just the regular, non omega, aluminum frame one
He’s not using technical language. He’s using gish galloping and obfuscation through the big words he uses that he doesn’t really know what they mean. The truth of the matter is, Ben Stoeger and Matt Pranka offers a better product, that being hard skills in shooting, than Travis Haley or Chris Costa ever could offer.
You got a bit of a hand jidder
Just adjusted my Radian Talon from 45 to 90 degree throw. It feels like the safety glides and there’s no hard detent like a mil spec safety. Feels like a competition gun. Bad for combat though cause it’s hard to notice the click under stress. Best i can describe is how a regular pistol slide feels when u rack it vs a 1911 or sig p239. $35-40 safety lever feels like magic 😆
That's why I prefer the forward controls. It has a little more detent, but once it breaks it moves easily to the other position.
How much ?? Nice 👍
Just above $2k if I remember correct
If you want it higher buy the unity absolute riser
Does that fit the 510c? Been looking to raise mine a bit for gas mask use
Did you use any training tools/devices for dry fire? Or just an empty firearm?
I have the mantis laser. I can't remember for sure, but I probably used it some just to make sure I was reasonably accurate with my presentation.
@@shofardefense thank you!
I’d be more worried about going blind shooting that thing lol. Forget the sights 😂
It shoots great and is surprisingly quiet as well.
@@shofardefense and blinding. Don’t forget that part😂😂no hate lol. I’m not hating but you’re not gonna sit there and act like that’s not a fireball factory. I’m not even gonna let you cap like that lmao
I have a short where I shoot it after drawing from a backpack. Check it out.
I was sold at the Cajun Gun Works. They tune a pistol up properly
For sure. They are excellent.
You just saved me from a disaster. I’m doing a 11.5 bcm/ proof barrel with a surefire warcomp.
Glad it helped. That's the reason I made the video.
You stacked the last two that was pretty good.
I am having the same issue. Thank you for this great tutorial! Subscribed.
You're very welcome. I hope it helped.
@@shofardefense yes, it did! Got my disconnector to work! Thank you very much
Thank you for the video. Very helpfull since I have same issue.
You're welcome. I hope it helped.
Have both and agree.
That’s cool man I just started trying this a few days ago I like the time lapse.
Thanks!
You're welcome
@shofardefense Just finished installing reduce reach discos in both my S2 OR (needed an old style trigger install as well) and S2 compact (already had the old style trigger installed). The dicso for the Compact needed quite a lot of material removed, the disco for the S2 OR only a little. Pretty sure I can now disassemble and reassemble S2 lowers in my sleep.🤣 The results are terrific tho. Thanks again for the tutorial. CGW has a PDF but it was nice to be able to check out your video.👍🏻
Try using the knuckle on your index finger to go back on safe instead of using your thumb. I find it to be way easier and faster to manipulate ambi AR safety’s that way.
I'll try it out
Just take the messed up threads down and clean them up with a file. Then use the correct thread pitch and screw on the appropriate one after lubing it of course. It can be saved.
Toddler level film manipulation👎
Have you tried function test upside down? Many times people do short reset upgrade and it won't work when gun is upside down. Then comes few other places to fine tune. Also is hook now sliding up and down freely on trigger bar, or is it dragging, it can be felt on trigger.
Radian... coz it came with my Model 1... 😂
What optic cut do you have on the p01?
Primary Machine cut it for a 507c
Im glad they replaced your barrel. I always get a tap and die that matches the thread pitch of the barrel in case i need to clean up the threads. Things dont always leave the factory how they should be
I've been trying to find a picture of a P-01 with that color combo for awhile. It looks fantastic. Did you get the slide cut by Wager, and how well do the ODG Lok grips match the slide? I know it can be hard to tell in photos/video.
The slide was cut by Primary Machine. I wouldn't say it matches the grips exactly, but I've had to learn to give up on matching OD green and FDE in the gun world.
I love flat triggers, I installed a CGW flat trigger along with replacing the rest of the trigger internals of my SP-01 Competition (Standard Package with race hammer), though I went and converted mine to SAO and deleted the firing pin block since I wanted it to have the least travel possible, with some hand work and polishing I got the travel down to .050", along with dropping the pull weight down to 1.8 pounds and only .002" thou of creep (measured with a dial indicator), it is _lightning_ fast, I can dump six rounds in just under a second and it's wicked accurate too, the light pull, minimal travel and lack of creep really made an improvement in long range accuracy. I modded the shit out of my SP-01 lol, along with the aforementioned mods I installed a DPM Systems 3-stage recoil buffer plus a CZC frame buffer pad, replaced the stock barrel with a CGW fluted threaded barrel so I could install a Volker Precision MK2 universal compensator, I drifted the rear sight out to install a dovetail optic mounting plate (I didn't want to cut the slide) to which I installed an RMS Shield competition 4-moa red dot, I replaced the grips with Toni short grips and a CZC flared magwell, and then mounted a modified Cross Armory gas pedal with a custom molded thumb rest made from thermoplastic (to accommodate the nerve pain in my left thumb from a tablesaw accident), and last but not least I mirror polished every single surface that sees friction, including pivoting pin holes and the pins, everything just glides. I also made one modification that I rarely see from others, which was shimming the sear cage to the frame with a couple tiny drops of expoxy so the sear cage can't move backwards, which took a lot of squish out of the trigger pull, the wall couldn't be more clearly defined. If you have a tuned SAO trigger and still notice a little bit of squishiness when hitting the wall, you will definitely want to do the same, it really made a big difference, though I doubt you would notice it with DA/SA and especially if you still have a firing pin block.
You go all out even more than I do. Lol
@@shofardefense Yeah I kinda went nuts on that one lol😅, I put about $2k worth of mods into it, not including what the hand work and polishing would have cost if I didn't do it myself (there are benefits to being a machinist for two decades lol). I'm planning on doing something similar to my P10F, I already got the trigger travel down to about .070" and the creep to about .010" so the trigger is already primo (for a striker fire anyways), but I want a threaded barrel and comp, red dot, flared magwell, DPM buffer and a gas pedal. But that will have to wait a little while, I've got a wedding coming up and those things ain't cheap lol.
