Some historical facts: 1. The visit at holy trinity : Lt. General Mered Mengesha; was the military leader during the reign of His Majesty Emperor Haile Selassie, served as the country's Ministry of Defense from 1953 until 1958 after the "December Uprising". 2. The decisive battle of the war was the Battle of Adwa on March 1, 1896, which took place in the mountainous country north of the actual town of Adwa (or Adowa). The victory was led by Emperor Menelik of Ethiopia. 3. In 1935, Italy launched a second invasion, Ethiopia was occupied by Italy until the Italians were driven out in 1941 by the Ethiopian Arbegnoch, patriots with assistance from world war II actors such as the British. The emperor of Ethiopia Emperor Haileselassie reached to Addis Ababa On May 5, 1941, Haile Selassie I, returned triumphantly to his beloved capital city, Addis Ababa. The Ethiopian Emperor was accompanied by battle-tested companies of Patriot guerilla fighters (the Arbanyoch). 4. About the Mexico square in Addis: In response to Ethiopian appeals, the League of Nations(The one before United Nation where Ethiopia is founding member) condemned the Italian invasion in 1935 and voted to impose economic sanctions on the aggressor. The sanctions remained ineffective because of general lack of support. But, a few countries remains supportive until the end. These include, On 18 November 1936, France and Britain recognised Italian control over Ethiopia in 1938. Mexico was the only country to strongly condemn Italy's sovereignty over Ethiopia, respecting Ethiopian independence throughout. Including Mexico, only six nations in 1937 did not recognise the Italian occupation: China, New Zealand, the Soviet Union, Republican Spain and the United States. That was why Mexico is remembered and have been recognized with the square in Addis Ababa
