Life in the Pits | Racing Team CCR/Spannerworx | ASMR video
Переглядів 3532 місяці тому
We were invited by my friend, Chris, to join him and his racing team in the Pits for the day. Our first time experience being right next to race performance v8's revving it up - the only way to describe it is, if you could possibly exist within the inner chamber of a volcano about to explode, that's what it feels like. It's an assault on your very essence of being. I might be over dramatic, but...

Join me on another 4x4 off-road recovery adventure, this time rescuing Patrick & Melissa's Land Rover Series 2A from a seriously rutted 38deg slope. Patrick's another gentleman with a lot of self-recovery experience behind his belt. I'll also be exploring just a little bit of ASMR driving in this video - specifically on trails and backroads of our area. Hit the Like button if you'd like to see ...

Don't miss the post discussion on successful recovery tips at the end of the video. A huge damaging storm - called a Scorpions Sting by meteorologists - passed over South Africa. Not realizing at the time the danger that it posed even after it passed, we got hit by it's sting...and so did the rescue teams. How to replace indicator Hazard switch with a simple 2-pin toggle, with working pilot light!
Переглядів 2,2 тис.Рік тому
Land Rover Defender hazard switches are prone to going faulty, causing various indicator issues. Here I show you how I replaced my 1995 Land Rover Defender's 7-pin Hazard switch with a simple 2-pin On/Off toggle switch with LED, while at the same time adjusting the circuit to enable the (single) pilot light (dash indicator light) to work with the hazards. I may have forgotten to tie off some lo...

Did i see correctly, the disco has 540k 😮, how many replacement engines 😊
@@muzinkosi668 You read correctly - but I don't know if he's had to do any engine overhauls - hopefully Athol can comment here...
🤞🏾 hoping he is on it’s original engine. It will give much needed hope 😅.
@@muzinkosi668 I got Athol's reply on WhatsApp: "John I couldn’t connect to join in. First engine failed at 325,000 due to unnoticed oil loss on front engine seal. Replacement still going strong so far"
Beautifully done. Thanks John

A special thank you to our friends from the Land Rover Owners Club (LROC) who visited us and are featured in this video. You were outstanding ambassadors for your club, and we're grateful for your participation. Friendships were made, and will forever be cherished through the moments preserved in this video 💚. And thank you to all who joined in the Premiere, it was so great getting together again in the chat 💚
Everyone that joined us during the Premier, thanks for watching!
Time to get excited!! 🏆💯
Recovery points.(Structural Engineer here). The chassis members are made from 2 mm steel. You can install v strong Jate rings but the bolts will start to pull through the walls of the chassis rails under load. You need to increase the wall thickness at the anchor points by welding on doubler plates (say 3mm thick) which will spread the load. Of course the standard Jate rings won't fit over the doubler plates so they need to be modified, but you will at leadt have strong recovery points.
Bill, you honour me greatly by imparting your highly educated and experienced knowledge here. Thank you!! I will immediately start researching into what you've said and see how I can implement it in the future. Warm regards, John
@@auto-funatics7147 No honour mate, just a bit of commonsense. If I were a bit younger I'd think about marketing a recovery point kit with doubler plates (which would need to be welded to the chassis rails) and widened Jate rings.
Mountain Driving with no gas= No bueno. 😬🫣
🤣🤣🤣 - a sign of the times we're in 🥴
Boys will be boys. Bet that was some adventure.
It absolutely was...!
Please make more and longer Overlanding videos. You guys are very charming. Greetings from Germany
Thank you Toblas, your compliment is very encouraging! As soon as we're able to do a trip again, you can be sure another video will come of it 😉 In the meantime you can follow as I continue doing modifications and adding accessories to our 4x4's in my own way 🙂
What an experience. Thank you for sharing. Do you think vehicle weight was an issue?
So glad you enjoyed it Toblas! There were many many factors, chief of them being that I didn't "walk the way" first, else I might have realised how soft the soil in the stream was. Also, from the amount of sinkholes that I had to avoid coming in, should be an indication of treacherous ground that could give way. My vehicle was empty when trying to cross the stream, so no I don't think weight was the issue there. Deflated tyres helped delay the inevitable though - so that's the most important step in the right direction 👍🏻
"PromoSM"
Awesome job guys
Thanks man - glad you enjoyed it!
What tire size you have in that?
The tyres I used there were 265/65r17. I have since gone a little bigger
'only a landy can save a landy'... that's the same attitude that got you into that mess. good adventure never the less!
😂 just poking fun at my friends 😁
hehe, at least you can all laugh at the end, epic part of the world. That dude has serious knowledge@@auto-funatics7147
great video and team work, awesome of them to come help like that, will like to add those "recovery point" mentioned in the talk near the end are NOT recovery points, they are only tie down points for transportation
You're right! But what else do we have? The bridal works... until you don't use the bridal 😅. We really have a problem of there being no properly rated products for us available, unless one goes custom - and that's not tested and rated!
Fantastic video Gents! learnt allot.... only a landy can recover a landy LOL
😂 yep... Glad you enjoyed it!
Not a winch insight..snatch towing on a ball hitch using a strap, no kinetic ropes 🤷♂️
Think you need to watch it again 🤣
Awesome to know and have friends like these, great recovery guys
Agreed! 👍🏻
It was a perfect team effort. A friend in need is a friend in need ❤. Long live brotherhood with humanity 😊
👌🏻
Amazing adventure. I gues u must install winch infront bumper side... on that amazing LR, so u can winch up
Definitely the plan now. Thanks for watching! Enjoyed your mma vids 😉
wow very interesting experience friend
You should have gotten a Toyota
😂
I learn alot from this video thanks a 4x4 driver learn everyday best thing i think is to know your bakkie and the main thing is tyre pressure i like this video👍
Mooi man, dankie 🙏🏻😉
"Take your time to save time" - you guys did a sterling recovery job!
Agreed 💯👍🏻
I have not seen a more competent and carefull job of team leardeship in a recovery process - the fact that you have included the post recovery review in the video puts this to the top of the list of recovery learning videos
John, I couldn't agree more about the recovery team. I've sent your compliment on to them. I'm glad you enjoyed the video so much. Thank you 🙏🏻
Excellent recovery, and a great vid.
Thank you! Glad you enjoyed it!
Land Rover has always been clear that the little round bits front and back are NOT recovery points. They are shipping tie downs.
That was just awesome guys. Could be a part of the Camel Trophy ;-)
YES!
Great video! 👌
Thank you!!
Hey just to add a note about the defender ‘recovery’ points… they do tell you under towing section in the manual it says that they not for off road recovery.
You're absolutely right - but as Marcus says, it's all we've got - but using them with a bridle to distribute the load evenly between the two seems to work. The reason why mine snapped was because everyone was tired, and so we thought just using the one would be fine that once... Oops 😬. I couldn't include that part of the discussion because it was quite a heated discussion 😅. A debatable subject for sure 😁!
@@auto-funatics7147 ahah yeah I totally understand 😁 yeah I was looking into what could actually work as a proper defender recovery point for defenders and not much out there at all! I have the pin and ball 2 in 1 tow hitch which I thought I just use the pin and job down but been told can’t use the pin, so I think when poo has hit the fan use what you got and get out :)
Fantastic recovery and footage. ..well done John and all the 😇
Thank you! Yep, they were incredible ☺️
How many times did you rebuild or replaced the transmission?
Never. Did an oil change at 250K kms, and today I clocked 300K. Still going strong 💪🏻
Cheers from Steve Stott in Sutherlin Oregon U.S.A.
Cheers Steve!
You killed your transmission
Ovo je totalno neznanje. Auto uopšte nije za off-road. Drugim rečima garbage.
in the egr intake it has meth injection or just pressure gauge?
That's just the turbo gauge, yes.
no exhaust valve ... it's just the sound of the turbo being released, without the filter box. if you remove the muffler it is even stronger (and useless)
Good
Awesome video!
Stands right behind vehicle not very clever
Bro!!!!!
Dude!!!!
