@@Dreamland-Resort Probably your feed to Flightradar24 that I'm seeing Janet flights on!
Amazing i didn't realize you can do it
Nice video. Thanks. Please go into more detail about how you use the systems.....it's not boring!!
Thanks! I'll add it to the list. Would love to do a deep dive into the geek stuff 😀
You can also use the SDR on your phone.
Interesting, I did not know that! I will look into that. Thanks!
@@Dreamland-Resortyou don’t know you’re living in the Stone Age? 🤪
@@petemitchell6788 Hardly. I just prefer a dual 27" monitor over a 4" phone😀
Any suggestions for SDR equipment for an iPad/iphone?
@@Hugalospizza Not sure about iPhone but you can probably find videos on UA-cam on how today do it. On android you download apps like magicSDR SDRTouch or SDRangel. Then you connect an OTG or on the go cable to the phone then connect the SDR dongle to the OTH cable you can also charge the phone while using the SDR. Just do some research on UA-cam for more information. Hope this helps. Works the same for tablets as well.
"Pluto on" gehört. Was das ist wissen wiederum nur Eingeweihte. Mit etwas Übung kann man sich aber einiges zusammenreimen. 😀
Wieder ein tolles Video. Danke für den deutschen Content!
Gerne!
Best regards from YG3BCO Indonesia..

uhmmm? Can one filter out the carrier wave of the jamming transmitter at the passive end? meh.
Its probably a bit more complicated than that. You are dealing with intermod etc.
Aliens👽
You mean to tell me they haven't digitally encrypted anything?
Only security ground traffic is encrypted. Air traffic is mostly in the clear.
I would not let the Russians see this.
LOL! If they depend on my research their intelligence machine is not working.
You should make setup a WebSDR so online visitors can listen to traffic.
I will look into that. But don't hold your breath. Our Rachel internet upstream speed is between 3 and 5 mbps (on a good day!), making live streaming from Rachel almost impossible.
@@RachelNevada Ha Ha, yeah you would have to put it on the cloud.
Yes, great Idea
Good idea!
@@RachelNevada If you could afford it it would be good to try starlink
Have you been able to experiment with the sensitivity of these road sensors? Are they triggered by hikers too?
Yes, they are if you are close enough. You have to be quite close though. We have open range cattle in the valley. If the sensors were too sensitive they would be tripped all the time. As for detecting vehicles: The sensitivity of induction base sensors is a function of the size of your vehicle and the speed driving by. The slower you are or the smaller your vehicle the closer you have to be to the sensor to trip it.
Do you remember the Yosemite Sam transmission on SW a few years back? Eventually I think they located it to a particular facility, and it stopped shortly thereafter ...
That was a good catch BTW. Very good catch. I've snooped around the 2.7 GHz RADAR band and can detect the ASR-9 or -11 operating some 10 miles to to my SE, and also have seen E2C (aircraft) UHF RADAR that sometimes affects UHF ham repeaters in our area ...
I hear you. When they are jamming as part of the air exercises in the NTTR our internet in Rachel goes out. Sometimes even the phone lines.
OK you're on a list now. 73 de VE3.
I have been on that list for quite a while: www.area51fbiraid.com/ 😀

Would you share the programing file for your BCD325P2?
I don't own a BCD325P2. And I am afraid I cannot share programming files for my scanners because they include frequencies that I cannot publish. Sorry!
@ thank you for the reply! I understand. See you out there! Thank you for keeping the public informed.
I would have to call you nothing less than an idiot for putting this on UA-cam. Nothing less than an idiot.
It is interesting to see Doppler return using signal from airport located VOR site too, or even using any carrier like DTV pilot carrier or advisory station carrier as well. It takes more computation power than I have to use an FM station's signal tho.

I raise a glass on this hot day to your good friend and supporter who shouted you the receiver, well done that man.
Thank you, and I fully agree. He is a good friend who prefers to stay in the background. I should have mentioned that some of the other SDRs in the video were also donated by generous supporters to whom I am very grateful.
It's called an EMID. They were approved in 1997 by the Dismounted Battlespace Battle Lab at Ft Benning GA. They can detect shock, vibration, magnetic fields, and heat sources. They operate off of 9 volt batteries and send out a pulse of daya when triggered. When deployed in mass like at Area 51, they can determine the position, direction, and number of intruders. How do I know all this, simple. I was the Sr Technoligest for the US Army, and I approved the project to develop and field them.
That is accurate information. A lot of the info on them disappeared from the web, but I have the manual saved somewhere 😀
Well good for you! some people dont understand that all they use today was built by people who are now in their retirement years. Reminds me of the Gamers who were ignoring an old blokes advice, regarding speeds and mice and keyboards and wifi and wired and this and that He held patents on such devices and chips and all sorts of stuff and posted them for all to see, with his real name that he was using and the silence was deafening. That was in the 90s.
@Dreamland-Resort I am planning a trip out there in about 3 weeks and would love to see one of those again. It brings back memories I had all but forgotten after my stoke. I'll be bringing my toy box with me so I'm sure I'll have a few other things of interest with me. I'll let you know when I'm on my way and when I arrive out there. I stayed at the little A'le'inn the last time, but don't think I will this time. I plan on spending several days out there this time, as I was only there overnight the last time.

What scanner do you recommend for newbies? 📻🎧
That is a very broad question. Depends on what you want to do with it. Most scanners do civilian air band from 118-137 MHz. If you want to listen to military air action get one that does the 225-400 MHz band. The Uniden BC125AT is a good inexpensive choice for that. If you want to listen to law enforcement, security etc. you will likely need one that does trunk tracking and can demodulate the P25 protocol. The Uniden BCD325P2 is a fairly inexpensive choice. It includes the P25 protocol and you can purchase upgrades for NXDN and DMR protocols. If you want to listen to short wave you need one that does that band and can do USB and LSB. Note: If you search for "radio scanner" on Amazon you see a bunch of Baofeng radios. They are great two way radios, but not suitable as a scanner.
@@Dreamland-Resort I'll go look at the Uniden.. thanks

Fantastic video Joerg. Was great to get a hands on run through of scanning hw and sw tech. That SDS200 is a thing of beauty - and a treat to listen-in to Backgate FM ;-) (Long time DLR lurker)
Thank you!
They're starting to utilize P-25 Phase II encryption on a lot of things like base security.
@rustynail6819 via Harris radios correct but the digital scanners can still listen ;)
Correct. Several of my scanners and software can decode P25, as long as it is not encrypted. The 380 MHz P25 trunking system used at Nellis AFB, Creech AFB and in the NNSS is mostly in the clear. The 400MHz system used in the NTTR is mostly encrypted. More info on the systems here: www.dreamlandresort.com/info/scanner_trunking.html
It's empty. Everything is at S4.
Hey, you are a native German? Name and accent point to that conclusion:) 73 from Germany:)
I am! 73 currently from Las Vegas
@Dreamland-Resort great, enjoy!!! USA... lifetime dream 🙂🙂
Oh that's not clever listening to Area51 and then sticking it on you tube
Its totally legal! 😀
The U.S. unlike the UK have zero laws against using scanners. If you can receive it you have all rights to listen. The caveat is you cannot transmit on freqs you have no rights on using.
11:45 what is the software programs you are using there to monitor the trunked digital network ? I have been trying to find a good program that would log all the talk groups and the unit IDs using the different groups
That program is called DSD+ or "DSD Plus". Has a bit of a learning curve, but it quickly became my go to program for digital systems. I am also sometimes using "Unitrunker" to quickly sniff out trunking systems.
@Dreamland-Resort thank you
Back in the 70s and 80 before they scrambled the signals, if you had a really high end Ham Radio or Scanner with a very sensitive VFO, you could tune to the special 300 mgz and 400 mhz Frequencies I remember at the military site near me they had something like 415.67327 mhz back in the 80s, and you needed a modified Ham radio to get the signal People would build converters that lowered the frequency by a few mhz or even a few hundred mhz, so they could have the input of 415.67327 and the radio output from the converter would be 465.67327 Back in the those days most Frequencies were like 460.400 or 460.450 They could receive 465.6725, 465.675 .67327, even today on most scanners they can't do this .67500, .67525, even .675125 But .67325 or .67350 or .6732375 But .673275 is the closest you can get and if you are on site you can hear it somewhat
