LRI (Lift Reserve Indicator) Demonstration
Переглядів 1,9 тис.3 роки тому
This is a video demonstrating my Lift Reserve Indicator (LRI), which is basically a very simple/inexpensive setup that gives readout similar to an Angle of Attack (AOA) indicator. It uses 2 90-degree offset ports on a 3d-printed probe which is mounted on my left wing and set to the stall AOA, connecting to a simple differential pressure gauge. The resulting indication, once calibrated, will pro...
Waiex Flight #6 (Oil Pressure precautionary landing)
Переглядів 3515 років тому
I had some wild oil pressure readings this flight. Post-flight I believe I tracked the problem down to the failure of a rubber grommet at the pass-through of my oil pressure sensor wire through the engine baffling... the wire was chafing against the hole in the aluminum baffle enough to expose a small amount of bare conductor.
Roth Waiex #197 First Flight
Переглядів 5 тис.5 років тому
GoPro cockpit footage of my first flight after completing my Sonex Waiex home-built aircraft. Edit: At 4:05 in the video my captions talk about left vs right turning tendencies, and I typed them backwards. The Aerovee engine does have a counterclockwise-rotating propeller (versus the typical clockwise rotation of most aircraft) which induces right-turning tendencies versus typical left-turning ...

Waiex #197 Forward fuselage timelapse - 4800x
Переглядів 4239 років тому
This video shows 230 hours of work on my Sonex Waiex. The video starts right after I finished the wings in my previous timelapse video (which you can watch here: ua-cam.com/video/hfjD3skvHTo/v-deo.html ) and ends when I insert the wings into the fuselage for wing rigging. The speed of this video is 4800x real time, so 3 hours pass for every 2 seconds of video. More info about my project on my b...

Memorable moments
How does the Sonex behave in a power-on stall? Any spin tendancy?
Hi Ryan Nice demo! I’ve got a similar setup in my Jodel and want one on my RV3 build. I can however no longer find the company that sold me that one I have (way back in time). I believe you’ve built yours yourself? I can copy the under-wing probe of the Jodel, and grasp the concept of using a differential pressure gauge for this. Only thing I don’t know is which gauge to get. Do you remember the full-scale pressure range of yours? Thank you for your time and enjoy the Sonex! Regards Hans
Wow, that hangar looks empty without two Waiexes in it!
Fantastic video, thank you. The PC12 is my dream aeroplane…. I hope to fly it one day.
Where did u get that canopy setup
Con estos vídeos ya estoy aprendiendo a pilotear este PC12.
It looks like a marginal or illegal take off.
Is that held in place solely with the included GoPro adhesive on the clip mount? Impressive
Yes it is. Mounted sideways to have the narrow edge of the camera into the wind.
What was the vis? Insane video 🤟🏻
awesome video! Thankyou
I want a ride lol

This is great man, I've been thinking about building a onex.... Maybe..... Lol
Sonex fun meter.
this is really cool. I bought a Waiex. How do I put the wings on it? Did you modify the V-tail attachment so it won't fall off per the AD?
"So it won't fall off" is a bit of an embellishment of that particular (and singular) accident report, but yes, all kits shipped after the (mandatory) SB included the extra reinforcement, including my Kit. The sonex website has a document with pictures describing the wing installation/removal procedure. www.sonexaircraft.com/documents/instruction_sheets/wing_install.pdf This is for the A-models, not sure if the B-Model is different.
That was awesome
Respect.
Pity that we can't build that fast.
Sweet! So much more creative capability with a 360 camera! looking forward to more. 👍
Cool camera effects, especially on the loop!
Wow PC12 can land in my backyard... unbelievably short landing distance
What was your take-off minima?
Nice! Thanks for posting
Sweet! Thanks for demonstrating this Ryan. 👍👍👍
I can't understand how people take five years to finish a thousand hr. Project.
Life happens. Also the last 100 hours or so of "work" comes in much smaller batches, involving a lot more troubleshooting and waiting for additional parts/problem solving. The first 800 hours or so by contrast typically has far fewer interruptions with many repetitive tasks and goes by much more quickly.
Very cool canopy!!! Too bad it's not a B . I wish sonex would develop a six cylinder super aerovee!! Game changer! Still very nice!!
Congrats! Thanks for sharing!
I went to your site but can't seem to find a good picture of the instrument panel. Care to share one?

What a greaser👌
Nice, PC12 is the best
