Приєднався 8 лис 2021
Hi, I'm Megan! I founded an Etsy business in 2020, and this is where I post some of my quacky adventures of creativity and exploration. Follow along if you want to know what I'm doing with my life; which I don't even know myself!
Crocheted Pumpkin Pillow
I feel like there is a whole new world to explore now that I've conquered my fear of using a sewing machine on crochet! What should I make next?

Re-uploaded because the audio went funky! Hope you enjoy the full version. :) Not something I normally do but giving this cabinet a bit of sparkle for my niece's nursery was fun....for the most part! Painting furniture is definitely not as easy as it sounds! Especially when you pick the hottest week in June to do it. 😅 Let me know what you think! What piece of furniture do you want to give a ne...

Beautiful
Thank you!!
Lightly sand after every coat of primer and paint. Wipe dust off with tack cloth or wet microfiber rag. Paint next coat. You got this!!
Great tip! Thank you!
The white imperfections inside the middle inlay of the drawers sticks out like a sore thumb.
I love this sweater, so clever with the coffee bean buttons! I wanna do that now, probably won't though 😂 Just found your channel, can't wait to see what else you come up with!❤
Thanks so much! I have a tendency to get carried away when I’m given a theme, lol! 😅 Welcome to the quacky family! I’m so glad you’re here! ❤️🦆
@ducksneverwaver thank you 🦆🦆you guys are so funny!
Amazing!

I can hardly wait til next summer now......poppies would look gorgeous!
Me too! I'm always counting down to the next "hammer dye season" :D Oooo, poppies would look gorgeous!
oh now, around 17 minutes you hammered a road side blue flower (looked lovely once hammered) but you mentioned how it might not be 'colourfast". ?? Are some not colourfast?
Unfortunately not all plant dyes are colorfast. For example: red cabbage makes a really pretty periwinkle color but is not very colorfast. BUT everything I used in this vid I know is colorfast. I just didn't know for sure with the road side flower because I haven't used it before. :)
"higglety-tigglety" lol so cute. Can you tell me if you have used damp material vs dry material to hammer on? Is there a difference in quality? 14 minutes in (with the leaf), gorgeous!
I personally like using dry material. When I made it damp it was difficult to have it damp evenly (so inconsistent results) or I made it too wet (flowers went all smeary). BUT the flowers/leaves have to be fresh and have moisture. If it is really hot and dry where you are doing it I would put a damp paper towel over the flowers.
I'm less then 2 minutes in and you're already explaining "mordant". THANK YOU THANK YOU THANK YOU! You wouldn't believe how many vids I've just sat through and this important step is either: a) not even mentioned at all, or b) mentioned so flippantly like we are all supposed to know ! I just made a beautiful dark purple dye from petunias and want to dye something but don't want it to all wash away at first wash! You're delightful!
Aaaaww, thank you! And you're welcome, lol. All the best with your dyeing projects! Sounds beautiful!!
Looks delicious! Sock pizza.
Yea verily! Sock pizza beith my favorite!
That blue flower looked like chicory
Thanks, it is! I didn't realize that it grows right at the side of the road! So cool!
Thanks for showing your "struggles ". At least you're brave enough to try and share it with us. I have two unused wheels and they just intimidate me. Am at a point that I think im too old to learn and just want to sell and move on. After seeing your video I might give it a try though. Someday. Keep spinning. Evelyne 😊❤
Thank you so much for your comment, Evelyne! This is exactly why I want to share my spinning journey because I found/find it so intimidating! For something so simple it is incredibly difficult, lol. But that makes it very rewarding and beautiful too! I encourage you to put on your favorite music and try for 15 minutes. Then give yourself a little treat after (I'm partial to cookie dough bites :D ). You'd be amazed at what you can do, it is never too late to follow your interests! <3
Wow!
Hi. Hold the roving in your left hand gently. You will make drafting harder if you have a death grip on it. If the yarn is getting pulled out of your hand too quickly loosen the wheels tension rather than tighten your grip. If it’s not going onto the bobbin and is over twisting tighten the wheels tension just a little.
Thanks for the tips! I switched over to left handed drafting pretty quickly; don’t know what I was thinking originally! 😅 That’s helpful for tension! That’s definitely where I struggle so those are good tips for me to remember!
I love the pink with the lines!! So gorgeous! I’d probably use it as a table runner so I see it in my dining room everyday 😁 How did you get the dark lines?
Thank you! That’s a great idea! The dark lines are made using a iron water (rust, water, a little vinegar. Let it sit for a while). It’s then painted on to make the lines. It changes the ph of the dye to make it dark.
I remember trying to learn how to spin the first time. My wheel came with instructions, but they were in Polish. I speak English and conversational Spanish.
That’s a great story! Sometimes you just got to figure it out on your own. I think you get a better understanding of it that way.
Have you checked the little piece of felt under the tension block? You can find help on the spinolution ravelry group
I haven’t yet. Thanks for the tip!
@@ducksneverwaver ya I give beginner spinning lessons and I hafta replace/rough it up after a couple of classes. There's UA-cam's to help also
That's so cool, good for you teaching the craft! Thankful for YT for us who can't make it to a class! Thanks for the comment(s)!
Those bands are supposed to be tight but I'm going to tell you a little trick for putting them on. Lay the band over the top pulley, then place the band on the main wheel with your finger on top of the band. Rotate the wheel and your finger will hold everything in place and make it so much easier. My mom was a huge spinner and we had everything from great Wheels all the way down to an electric spinning wheel my dad had made when she had surgery
That’s so helpful! Thank you! 🙌🏻
Think of it as putting a bike chain on
A classic!
Such a big sigh! Like boy let me tell you about the struggle of life. 😅

Poor guy, he’s sister is kinda mean.
😂 I know right?!? He has a rough life.
😂 this vid was so funny, you's are so chilled out like ah whatever😂🤙
Hi have fun with new cut wild hair do
Thanks!
So much fun. Reminded me of when I used to cut my bros hair. Good memories.
That’s so sweet that you cut your bros hair!! Thanks for watching!
Shave the beard!
He’s had it so long I think the shock of him shaved would be too much for us! Lol, maybe some day for a vid though!😏
Fun! But I think a buzz cut would look awesome with his nice beard.
Oooohhh, I will definitely try to convince him to do that! 😁
Ahh yes humans never get old what funny creatures
Yall have such good energy please keep posting these!!
Thank you so much! Will do! Hope to have a vid out soon 😊
Shave hair and beard too
I'm sure you guys had a bit of fun, but there's plenty videos out there, that would simply show you how to put hair along your fingers before you cut along it with your scissors 🤔
Why is he letting you do this? Looks aweful
😂
I love how you kept the item true to itself, even though it is no longer in it’s same form it is still reminiscent of what it once was. Absolutely beautiful work
Thank you!! That was definitely the intent and I’m so glad you can see that! 😊
Are you sewing prosciutto?
That’s a Dutch braid lol looks amazing though
Lol, yeah, I was wondering if anyone was gonna pick up on that 😉 Thanks, glad you like it!
That looks beautiful!!! ❤❤❤
Thank you!!😊
How do you prevent it from being washed out though
The fabric is treated with a mordant which fixes the the dye to the fabric. I like to use aluminum acetate on cotton. The color will stay vibrant for many many washes.😊
The duck and Smurf!😂
What was your favorite art work?
That cow looks so exasperated at being sat on! Maybe bovines make for good heated seats?
I know! He definitely looks tired of being sat on!😆
Sooo pretty!! Amazing how clear some of the flower can come out! 🌻🪻🌸
Thanks! Yes, it’s such an incredible process that the texture/print of the flowers are fixed into fabric. I think it helps to use fresh flowers instead of dried but that needs more investigation.😄🧐
Love the setting and lighting!
Thank you!!🌜🌛
