Matthew I. Jenkins designed our beloved Carl and Master Shake... which is kind of funny considering Carl hates Shake. Today on the podcast we're talking with Matt, the man behind so many of our favorite characters. Matt's telling us all about the early years of the Atlanta animation industry (AKA the birthing grounds of Adult Swim), working side-by-side with the late great C. Martin Croker, and...

Aqua Teen Hunger Force - Daytrotter Session (LIVE 2009)
Переглядів 4487 місяців тому
In late 2009, Dave Willis, Dana Snyder, and company took to Daytrotter studios to perform a few tracks off the newly released Have Yourself A Meaty Little Christmas. This session was originally published Dec 22, 2009. Unfortunately Daytrotter isn't online anymore, I'm not even sure if you can still buy this. For whatever reason, Paste Magazine has the Daytrotter catalog on their site now. I'm g...

Donnell Hubbard - Aqua Teen Hunger Force Theme
I only know Andrew W. K. from Destroy Build Destroy, an old tv show on Cartoon Network.
Yeah... He is indeed number one in the hood, G.
"I want my name to be Spaghetti." has to be the best line in the episode imo. It's a great name for a dog. Also my best friend has fond memories of the _Cars_ video game on the 360, as he played it often with his cousin. I had the DS port, which isn't as well-remembered as the console port, but it still brings back all the happy memories of my life in the second grade. And as someone who's father has watched M*A*S*H for as long as he can remember, I can't thank Matt & Dave enough for taking on Alan Alda, David Ogden Stiers, the guy with the round glasses and everyone else who's jokes I don't understand because I'm trying to focus on enjoying my dinner while my dad's watching their misadventures. 1:42:07 It gets even darker than that, believe it or not.
"God only makes the people He hates gay." Sounds like Meatwad's been hanging around Moralton a bit too much. Also it's funny you mention the Harlem Globetrotters, as a few episodes ago, you'd mentioned NASCAR 2005 (a game very important to me as it got me into my favorite sport). That game was actually how I'd first heard of the team, because of an alternate paint scheme used by driver Scott Riggs in 2004.
You know, you're not wrong about the rain power sucking. But I'm reading this comic, and the protagonist's power is making it rain, but the impact from every raindrop is so powerful it creates craters on any surface. It's like getting hit by hundreds or thousands of fists. THAT'S cool. All this to say, shake is sooo sad. Funny, hilarious, but sad.
1:09:46
And them
Hey chick I heard you had the best riders of all the party was tight as hell and the clean up
i faintly remember this show coming on at night when i woke up at times and now its one of my favorite shows after rewatching every ep like 5 times
Meatwad did smoke crack in Rubberman
10:50 | and you are correct, the other members of Lostprophets (now doing business as No Devotion) are great guys, and had no idea what was going on behind the scenes with their friend. In a 2019 interview, bassist Stuart Richardson mentioned that the lead singer continued to live back home in Wales while his bandmates were in L.A., and would sometimes go 8 months to a year without seeing them, which was how he was able to keep them all at arm's length about what he did in his free time. What *was* publicly known about him (before his December 2012 arrest) was his hardcore drug habit, which lead to numerous conflicts behind the scenes, including one instance where Richardson beat the crap outta him after a concert because he was strung out on heroin the whole time. The band were extremely close to kicking him out in early 2012 as a result of this. That in mind, Start Something & Liberation Transmission are fantastic albums if you're good at separating art from artist. But if you feel sick to your stomach when you hear the lead singer's voice, it's entirely understandable.
I've gotta say, if it weren't for the grossout with all the spider eggs at the end, this would easily be in my top 5. Ten-year old Ronnie was right about that Ashlee Simpson song. Trust me, I have to hear it every damn day at the Publix I work at. No surprise that she wasn't all that passionate about music. "Lean Back" is one of my favorite songs in NFS Underground 2, thank you for acknowledging it. I just started a playthrough of it on another channel of mine. I'd also like to point out the irony in Adult Swim censoring anything to do with religion, yet one year after this episode airs, _Moral Orel_ debuts on the network. Meatwad's ice cream tirade is easily one of his best moments, next to "bitchin' damn room" in Super Spore. The goofy sound effects censoring his profanity make it even better. Mr. "Stand Up For Family Values" wrote a song called "Jailbait"? What a shocker. Reminds me of Kid Rock's "Cool Daddy Cool". Him shitting himself to get out of serving in Vietnam reminds me of Hector Salamanca shitting himself in the interrogation room in _Breaking Bad_ .
Are these extras included in that big box set of the series that came out a few years ago?
It was on the Volume 3 disc--- so YES! The box set is literally all the previous volumes (extras included) with a few extra discs including the never-before-released-on-DVD seasons. The only thing missing as far as I know is the Shake Like Me episode from the Volume 6 disc.
Thank you for mentioning the _Baby Blues_ cartoon. I have never watched it, but I spent God-knows how much of my early childhood reading a book full of those comics. I also had something similar for _Peanuts_ & _Dilbert_ as the Sunday funnies were a huge part of my childhood. Also WHY ARE WE TRYING TO CASH A BILL!?
My only advice really is don't grab every enchiladitto bag you see. It's a one and done health pickup. That and Frylock's eyes are a great way to deal with the Wisdom Cube. "Get the hell outta here!"
I wish Thay made this available on the Xbox 360 store or something I don’t like how it only on ps2
I can’t wait for the next livestream!
This game is actually a mix of genres. There's golfing, there's beat-em-up and there's racing
This game is very unique in its own way. Despite the flaws, the cutscenes made it enjoyable. I hope we can able to hear the voicelines someday. As an MMD UA-camr, I would have a good use for them. The same can be said with the game 3d models.
I'm glad you uploaded it. I missed the stream 😄
This episode is fine. I can see why it's weak. But, I did like how Frylock out smarts the Mooninites with the gas hose. X3 Although in his backstory scene, I'm debating whether or not if Err is messing around or actually crying for real.
I always found it pretty cool how up to this point Cartoon Network was presented as like this big family. You get the Cartoon Cartoons doing their thing on Cartoon Cartoon Fridays, and you get them and other Hanna-Barbera cartoons going back and forth in the office in bumpers - so it's cool that even Adult Swim got in on bringing their characters together for New Years. It really did help sell the feeling of the channel being this network for cartoons. Shame we don't really get that anymore.
Yo thanks alot for uploading ATHF content! one of the best
13:59 lest we forget the running gag of the Aqua Teens not having a real bathroom in their house, so it's no surprise that Shake wouldn't know what a toilet looks like. He could greatly benefit from one, especially when he's reading that fine "literature" that Carl loaned him (definitely not the latest _Butt Frenzy_ ) 36:31 Definitely a foghorn
Make an whole podcast about emory , the true aqua team
Huh. You know, the episode's plot almost makes sense, now.
you have a cloner?! You know I have a cloner Ohh, right. Can I borrow your cloner?
"Initiate Hunger Imagery!"
I remember as a kid when I would read or watch interviews with Dave or Matt it was always the weirdest, most frustrating experience because it seemed like they never gave serious answers. It was all very in line with the absurdity of the shows they made but as a fan, I wanted to get honest behind-the-scenes information and get to know the people responsible for ATHF. I was incredibly surprised with how open and honest they are on your podcast. It feels like a real conversation and not some fever dream nightmare. I really enjoyed listening. Also, congrats on the cameo! I just watched it and totally missed it because of the accent lol.
Hey I really appreciate this comment! I feel the same as you-- it was always a bummer, as a kid, not getting straight answers from the guys (despite how entertaining their fake answers would be). This became especially true when I started the podcast and relied on those commentaries for information on the episodes. I even thank Jay Wade Edwards in our interview for trying to keep things on track, haha! We talk a bit about the DVD extras in that one if you haven't heard it, Jay was responsible for those. Thanks on the congrats, doing that voice was super unexpected! It was a lot of fun and I'd love to do something with those guys again. It was Dave's suggestion to do the Minnesota accent cuz I moved here a few years ago-- an accent I had literally NEVER done before that recording session, LOL
Great listen and I'm jealous of you man. Getting to talk to Dave and Matt, but being in ATHF is insane. Props to Matt for (not) being in Ergo Proxy.
Burger King Foot Lettuce
Yoo many thanks for asking Matt my question (regarding the space ghost movie script). Too bad it got shelved but I hope that him and the original cast make a movie in the future, I mean SGC2C is just an amazing show!
Hey! Thanks for asking it & tuning in! I didn't think to ask him about that and I'm glad you brought it up
So glad to hear that Aqua Teen isn't officially canceled! I already knew that it wasn't picked up as of yet. Now I know that the cause was the industry isn't moving an inch. I loved the questions about the 5 new episodes. It makes me wonder who the season will go in DVD release. Really lucky as always. :3
I thought I was subbed this whole time, but I guess I wasn't. Regardless, I am now! Great episode, Ronnie! Nice to hear Matt's thoughts on season 12!
Zero in da house! Thanks for checking it out man, hope you've been well!
@@AquaTeenPod Doing great, brother! Hope you've been doing great too! 💙
I’d love to see more cooking videos from Matt Maiellaro on his channel!
Epic podcast with Matt! Also I’ve did more of the IMDb stuff, been trying to organize one of Matt’s projects to which ones he worked or didn’t, it was tiring/fun for me man. But seriously IMDb has the realest works out there than Wiki ngl.
I genuinely do not know what the fuck WB is doing by not renewing this show. Its such an easy win for the network
They need the $ for more 90 Day Fiance
That was fun! Thanks Ronnie! (I named that character in Shredforce after you before I even knew you.)
You've got it all wrong, man. My parents named me after the Shredforce character before you even wrote it!
(To Matt) I believe I’ve asked the same question to John Brestan a while ago, but who were the animators from 12 oz. Mouse Season 3? Some animated studios just never get credited for some reason in tv shows & movies
Great stuff so far! I’ve seen bits and pieces of the latest season and have liked it a lot visually. There are a lot of fans who are mixed on the new animation but I think it’s better to experiment once in a while rather than stagnate.
I was friends with Matt's niece in high school. I thought it was amazing that she had an uncle who worked for Adult Swim. She once showed him one of my comics, and he said it was cool!
Oh that's so sick!!
wow he really did mean 5 episodes that's crazy
Haha yeah at the time my brain didn't fathom it was episodes cuz it was only 5....... But then we only got 5 episodes 😂
We got the director of Wild Hare Studios OG all up in here!
Yep! I'm glad you appreciate that fact ;)
Sweet!! You're so lucky!!! OwO
Hell yeah! The designer of Cup and Carl! 😂
If i heard Frylock's voice in a porno, I would spontaneously combust.
This episode is rather a twist in terms of events. What started as a clip show into the actual main plot. But I did love the compilation part with Frylock and the addition of the new clips.
I won't leave until I leave a comment
well that was quick and easy!

Hey man, I just saw Matt Maiellaro joined Twitter but noficed he's not following Dave Willis. Glad he's coming out of his shell, but it kinda scares me. You're the go-to guy and I don't wanna chase drama but Matt and Dave are still good friends right? I remember Matt said a comment in your interview that him and Dave have nothing in common and it stuck with me.
Lol they're fine, they've been working on several new projects together (which may or may not get released). Matt said that in regards to their creative partnership working-- if they liked all the same stuff then it would be boring. They draw on their different backgrounds to make ATHF as unique as it is.
@@AquaTeenPod Okay good. I don't want them to fallout to drama. Matt and Dave are some of the most genius minds in animation. I guess it makes sense though; Willis is big into sports and Maiellaro is more into storytelling.
My mom listened to Measure Of A Man quite a lot around this time, as _American Idol_ was one of the few FOX shows we were allowed allowed to watch when I was growing up. I can still remember 4-year old me really liking the second track, and looking at the album cover in the back of our Ford Windstar as we went on down the road.
