Altering/glazing vase that was thrown on wheel
Переглядів 79 тис.14 років тому
After throwing a 14" tall cylinder, I remove from wheel and alter the piece. Using various tools I cut holes through the pottery to create a sculptural form. Also shown is how the piece is glazed. Here's how I do it.

Lovely ceramic cups. I'd love to have the skill to make beautiful and practical things like this.
@Marco Deo No, to develop the feel of the wheel with the clay and those hand movements is definitely going to take some practice! lol lots..
@Marco Deo Yes, when Patrick Swayzee's character tries to make something on Demi Moore's wheel, or fools around with her while she's making something. A long time ago..but one of the famous love scenes of all time..
@Marco Deo Yes, one of the great movies.
Can you please tell what is this base clay called ??
Hi Steve. Cone 5-6 is how much in °C ? I fire at 1250°C oxidation. Great effect!! Keep it up!

I LOVE them!
Love your video. Please could you give me advice where I can purchase a rolling pin like the one you are using? I live in the UK thank you !
What family/variety of Hosta it that supposed to be modeled after? My wife and I have raised every US imported Hosta you can get your hands on for nearly 50 years. I have never seen a Hosta leaf look like that with the wavy edges. Colors are too dark and glaze is too shiny. Looks like a Art class project from High school. Spice up the colors to be more real life like and change/tone down the glaze.
Did you score the inside before pushing the two sides together?
no need Zoe, when the clay is in the wet stage. Compressing with the fingers is sufficient to make a firm join.

Çok çirkin
Wow. Just what I was searching for. I’m taking my first pottery class using the wheel. But what I truly want to make is a sink for my home and preferable an art design. I have a friend that makes bowls and sinks with rhubarb leaves. This is wonderful
Which type clay
may i know the material used to make the leaf and thing used for glazing, pleaseeeeeeeeeee
Superb
👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍VERY GOOD !!!👏👏👏👏👏👏Beautiful work !!!
dont use the green colour, but use purple or royal blue instead. I use light blue, dark blue, yellow, orange combined too, but no green, it's a great combination.
Thank You for showing completed work,,, too many of these ceramics videos never show finished pieces,,, now , what is the glaze on the 2nd bowl,, I looks like an amber celadon but it is very rich and red....
podían ponerlos en castellano ,gracias
nice
Please, I want to know how I made this dough.
