Ralph Lauren 4D advert New Bond Street 10 November 2010 8.30pm
Ralph Lauren's 50ft models to stop New Bond Street traffic in 4D fashion spectacular on 10 November 2010, 8.30pm
"One of New Bond Street's most impressive buildings will be transformed into a giant 4D experience tonight when Ralph Lauren unveils groundbreaking technology.
The firm has closed streets and is expecting thousands to witness the event at 8.30pm, which it claims is the first of its kind. The storefront will "vanish" as all the lights are turned off, and will then appear to explode as a giant polo pony - from Prince Charles's team - runs out of it. The firm's logo is a polo player.
The pony will be followed by 50ft models and a fountain of perfume during the eight-minute film. Sound and the mist of scent - the fourth dimension - will enhance the experience.
Ralph Lauren himself appears, apparently waving from a window of the six-storey building before his name is flashed up in huge red letters. His son David said the experience would be "game-changing". He added: "It blows my mind - it changes the way we look at architecture; it will change retail, movies, advertising, everything."
As engineers added the finishing touches in the early hours today, Evening Standard reporter Rob Parsons was there to watch the rehearsal. He said the cascade of petals was so realistic he expected a pile to accumulate on the ground. Passers-by were initially confused and then stood and stared at the spectacle." wrote Evening Standard today.
But it was quite disappointing experience - no 3D, no scent. Nothing spectacular. The scene with horses was too long. The size of the images and colours were quite impressive though - that's all.

The cameraman RUINED IT by singing along and focusing the attention to him occasionally. We wanted to see the event, not a non-talented singer desperately trying to be part of something... it's eerie. Great footage, but please... next time, just focus on the raw footage without feeling the need to include yourself.

The cameraman who started singing at 3:30 ruined the video.

i know they didnt just do one video i mean why flash cuz on the advert they show the same singers but the passengers are different so i wonder how many times did they have to do that over and over to get the right views that is presented in the advert

@brandhijack Thank you for posting the song list, I was wondering what the songs were that they were singing. Also, thank you for posting this "bystander perspective" video since it gives a, to my mind, much more accurate view of what the session actually looked like to an ordinary person. I'm seeing fewer smiles on the faces of the passengers and the performance aspect of the entire shoot is much more evident. Thanks! :)

4:32 "Come on- sway with me, brother!" Great line. Yep it was done more than once to get it right- don't know if the official ad was one take that turned out perfect, or clips from different takes. Whatever, it's great.

@PunkntheGodfather The singers in the ad are miked up. That's why the advert sounds better. They have better quality sound recording equipment. The rest of us just have our mobile phone to recored sound and image. Of course it won't sound as good.

They obviously did this more than once: the people coming out to the airport are different from those in the "official" ad. The guy who gets targeted for "Return of the Mack" here looks like he's pretty much trying to run away!

Looks like they did this more than once.. The guy the indian sings to in the T-mobile ad isn't wearing a red hat or holding a walkietalkie like in this one...

Man this is awesome. Thanks for uploading this. It's neat to see the advert when it isn't the professional filming. You get more of a sense of how absolutely amazing it must have been to be there.

@SoftRazor12 @SoftRazor12 You need to keep an eye on these events. I got a sense that this would happen when T-Mobile announced that they'll show it on Friday. I did a Google alert on it and on Tuesday evening there was already a buzz about it and on Wednesday morning I knew it would happen on that day so I went to Terminal 5 and I spend 1 hour filming it on my new iPhone 4. I edited it on iPhone and posted from it to UA-cam. I was one of the first people to do it so it got most views. Neat fun

@mikey0118 During 15 hour shooting this scene was probably shot over 80 times.

  • @mikey0118
    @mikey0118 14 років тому

How many times was this shot? I ask because the older Asian man, who sings to a BAA security employee in the video released by T-Mobile, sings to somebody completely different in this version.
