While the Switch and PC are doing good.

This why i got steamdeck and planning on getting the switch 2 and enjoy the handheld version of the 8th gen era.

These videos really confuse me. If there’s something I’m missing, then feel free to tell me, but all the other stuff we’ve been seeing is nothing short of peak. The company isn’t perfect, but Nintendo has been barfing some of their best works of the generation since last year, and seem to keep that trend going throughout 2024 at the least. And that’s not even to mention how many absolutely amazing, if not outright perfect indie titles have come out ever since the day they became mainstream. Super Meat Boy, Lethal Company, Pizza Tower, including the up and coming ones like Rollin Rascal and AntonBlast. If you still think that the game industry is rotting or straight up dead, than branch out to other genres instead of playing FPS’s for the rest of your life.

Just buy a PC people it's always the better choice 🙂😉

How is Spider man $300 million?! Ghost of Tsushima was made with a $60 million budget and was superior to that in gameplay, content, story and art direction. Even the facial models for the characters look better somehow. Where is the budget going?!

The issue is they murdered the Hi-FI Rush IP in cold blood so these games better be the greatest of this generation And I know they aren't going to be, it's Microsoft, we're either not seeing all of these titles listed until 2026 or they will launch live service bullcrap that milks the Xbox shills or game-breaking bugs that ruin any first impressions these games receive And do you want to know what the worst part is? They'll randomly tweet about their new games and briefly mention them once & a while (some great advertising right there) and then they'll complain when they don't sell well, release them on gamepass, and proceed to shut down more studios

no publishers shou,d be allowed to aquire dev studios. i dont give a fuuuuuuk who teh devs studios are or the publishers..... massive entertainments should be taken away from ubisoft and be independent, along with all other ubisoft studios and sony and microsoft and even nintendo. except their 1st party studios... its ruinin the games

Gaming has been bad for years!

Glad I jumped off the gaming bandwagon at the tail end of the Xbox360/PS3 era. I saw the writing on the wall back then. Things have only become way worse than I imagined. I guess I grew up. Still a little sad to see what's become of my former hobby.

They are taking too long to make new games that uses the new hardware. And the ones that release are majority mid.

This was a HUGE win for Xbox. Desperately needed. Lots of great games up ahead.

AAA publishers have become completely risk adverse that they don't want to attempt to create new IP's. They also waste a ton of money on DEI in general, from hiring expensively unnecessary consultants such as Sweet Baby Inc, to hiring the wrong people to fill BS HR quota's. This results in tasks taking longer to do (what once took half a day now takes 4 weeks), lots of mistakes and rework, which equals to delays and increased budget costs. They then pass this wasted mismanaged money onto us the consumer by increasing the game prices, and the end product ends up being broken and crap anyway. The released product doesn't sell the required / expected units and the studio is closed down and layoffs happen. Layoffs are normal in the AAA gaming industry in general, greedy publishers fire most contractors once all the development of a successful game is completed (MW2 was a perect example of this way back in 2010). Other forms of AAA stupidity is exclusives, if development costs are now 100 million and above, the last thing you want to do is keep said product off of systems, you want as many people to buy it as possible to make a profit. Overall, the AAA gaming industry is heading into a 1980s-style crash. They need to get back to the late 90's / early 00's (the golden era) ways of thinking and developing games whilst dropping exclusives entirely.

My PS5 feels like what my PS4 should have been from the start. I'm done with PlayStation and Xbox. Its PC and Nintendo (for my JRPG itch) all the way fron here on.

I just saw a whole pile of PS5 games at Target on clearance for $10. What's going on? I got an XBox S a little while ago. The games have beautiful graphics but the game play really hasn't changed that much since the PS2. The machine is a great streaming device.

In future I bet that we have all games in PC only with no actual gameplay and click things like we want movie to progress a damn story with very undefying human characters smashed with genres like heroshooter rpg extraction survival souls likes deveoloped by AI... yaaay... sound damn fun and innovative. Went from Xbox Series X and PS5 to a SteamDeck that I pretty much exclusively use for emulation and indie games. I don't think I'll bother with Gen 10.

How is it that the ps5's "tech-demo" is more fun than any 3rd party game released on it?

Maybe this is an "old guy's problem". Because I have more new good games that I need years to go through. I have heard that when you get older you will also eat liver and only listen to Jazz.....and yes no more video games for you because they will start to taste like dog poo in your mouth. It's not the problem with the games it is you going senile. 😅

I feel bad for most of you. You don't even realize that most of you are the reason why this generation is failing. Let me explain. Most developers are being told to make their games work for both the old and new generations. That is hurting developers and that is why games are costing 70 plus. If they could just focus all of the resources on current gen, games would be better and games wouldn't cost as much. So, thank you to all of you for making the industry a shit show.

I think if you only play RPGs, then theres never been a better time to be a gamer than now, especially on ps5, where we not only have ps5 RPGs but the entire library of ps4 RPGs as well, ive played more RPGs in the last 3 years than any other 3 year period in my life, maybe its because i play a mix of AAA, AA and indie games and i dont play any f2p or pvp games, or maybe because ive dedicated my time to one genre, but ive had the complete opposite reaction to this generation, plus i ignore any games that arent RPGs, to me they might as well not exist, i dont sit on the internet all day crying about games i dont like and that im not going to play anyways, if i dont like a game i just move on to something i do like

Only thing I want is Xbox Series X for the backwards compatibility disc drive and a PS5 for GTA 6. Otherwise, I could care less about this generation.

To be honest, in my experience Gen 7 would be the worst for me. Granted I think part of the issue for Gen 9 the lack of exclusives, and people complaining about the fact that exclusives exist. Which is weird as, for someone who gamed since the 90's and have spent, like 30ish years seeing how exclusives can make or break a console, even up to Gen 8, being told how exclusives (in general, not going into specific cases) are actually "anticonsumer" and "don't matter" comes off as more revisionist history. Not to say I'm against ports later down the line or the fact that some games do need to be multiplatform, however. Of course, the unsustainability of higher budget games is also an issue. I'm not against the idea of making a big budget game but the number of them is certainly higher than necessary. That said, the issue with people saying Spider-Man 2 was "too short" for a 70 dollar game is just weird to me, but that's mainly because I think it's not reasonable to determine a game's worth *purely* by how long it takes to beat. People complain about large, empty open worlds in some games and I'm just wondering how much of that is just the notion that a game's worth is based on just how long it takes to beat.

I will skip this generation, unless... Nah if some new awesome fromsoft game realises that is not compatible with ps4 I'm moving to PC, maybe i will try my luck with steam deck or could gaming, currently im waiting for PS6 praying it's not hideous like ps5

I moved to steam deck and rog ally, last console I bought was switch oled (I still play it) I don’t know if it’s because I’m in my 30s now but just seems like there’s no magic anymore lol doesn’t seem like it’s a pop culture thing anymore. I feel like 9th gen looks more and more as a business. Indie games and Nintendo seem to be doing it right. Last AAA game I bought was doom eternal (incredible game)

The only game I played recently that I think deserves all the praise it got is Baldur's Gate, not even Alan Wake 2 which is highly overrated and it was a disappointment, at least for me personally.

Last good era was 7th gen, it slowly but surely got worse after that. There are still good games being made, but mainly from indie devs who will try to innovate unlike some aaa devs who play it safe and release the same slop every year filled to the brim with mtx.

As far the layoffs go. When you have teams of 1000 plus people (most of whom are contractors) working on single game don't be surprised when the budgets balloon and layoffs come. The budget balloons because you hired to many people in an attempt to get games out faster to ride that covid wave. And game launches in an unplayable state because the last group of temps you hired have no idea how the last person’s code works. Go back and look at goated games of the early 2000s to the early 2010s. Most of them were made by a team of less then 100 devs. 200 to 300 at the absolute most. To look at something more resent, Hollow Knight. The metroidvaina darling of the industry. A game that will take roughly 30 hours to beat double that for 100 percent. Was made by a team 3 devs with a budget of a little over 50,000 dollars. 300,000 dollar budgets shouldn't be the standard. As for gen 9 quiet frankly I have never been more happy as a PC gamer. With a Switch Lite to play Nintendo Games and classics. And a PC to play current releases a few months after release for half off courtesy of Steam. The last time a PC was this appealing was about a decade ago when 360s were melting and the PS3 still had no games. The only thing stopping PCs from being dominant at this point is rampant corporate greed brought on by the crypto mining boom and supply shortages due to covid. As a result component prices have doubled, tripled, or in some cases quadrupled compared to a decade ago.
