Soldier's leap
A tune named after a spot near Killiecrankie, where it is said a government soldier leap across the rapidly flowing river Garry in order to escape the Jacobites at the battle of Killiecrankie in 1689.

Well I wanted to get a song in while there was a break in the rain, so here we are. Another rendition of Rose Connolly, a traditional song that goes way back. #banjo #folkmusic #traditional

A wee tune that I came up with myself, I tend not to post my own compositions, however this is an exception. Filmed on an October day by the fire because it was horrible outside. #banjo #folk #folkmusic

I am a banjo player, not a fiddle player that's for sure! Regardless, I hope you find this video entertaining. A traditional Scottish tune. #folk #fiddle #scotland

❤
Not a criticism but a joke; SING IT LOUDER FOR EVRYONE IN THE BACK. That aside there's something special about music in the countryside.
normally I hate country but this hits different
Mythical find.
What i feel on a daily basis:
what wonderful playing! and what a beautiful background!
Ive no idea who you r, but boy do you lay that banjo an carry emotion on your voice
this popping up when im sick
Sending sincere appreciation from Wyoming. Massive inspiration for my hikes into the mountains of Wyoming to play. One day I hope to play well enough I can show others. Thank you.
Man this video was only 7 minutes but it felt like I went through every season you mentioned in the video. Absolutely incredible
dying out in the cold, i am.
This reminds me of Iroh singing Leaves From The Vine
i really like the idea of passing on a story about our world to the whole Universe
What an underrated comment
Maith thú! Beautiful.
@@sierranvbanjo Tapadh leibh!
Always appreciate hearing an Irishman speak. The singing is a twofer. 👍
Great job, Lachlann! It would be awesome if you did Flower of Scotland one day!
I always love a good Jacobite song! Would be cool if you did more of them!
I've been watching you for a while, yet I've never listened to this one. Bloody shame, this is one of the best. Thank you, you've introduced me to a lot of songs I would have otherwise never discovered.
I appreciate this, sir. Thank you.
sounds great!
Great sound
this is such an enjoyable tune, i was literally imagining what it'd of been like to be that soldier with this playing in the background, that goes to show how much it fits for what it was made about quite interesting and rare that i hear about a story from as long ago as 1689
Super to catch a new tune I might never otherwise have come across. Boy, if you had an album I’d buy it in a heartbeat! If ever you get to that stage you mustn’t leave us in the dark!
Same
Lovely; The tune does have that bit that sounds like a leap! I always enjoy your music and landscapes.
🕺🕺🕺🕺🕺 I hope the solider made it, it's a tune that makes you want to get up and dance! 🕺🕺🕺🕺
@@tylerjgifford apparently he did! Survived and made it south to the town of Dunkeld. Folklore says he leapt a full 18 feet, so I think it's safe to say there was some embellishment.
whenever you film outside you have such lovely backgrounds, it is really a gift to be able to be in such beautiful places!
@@sarabellaiac it is indeed! I'm lucky to have been raised in my wee corner of the world.
A very heart warming song.
So lovely!!!! I just love everything about you're channel. I love Irish trad songs too! If there's any tips you could give a beginner fiddler it would be greatly appreciated😊
this has to be my my favorite music channel
Sounds great :))
Amazing! ❤️
Lovely rendition.
Great job man. Love the belting on this one!
Beautiful .
You’re for sure my favorite banjoer :)
Same vibes with Avicii which warms my heart fully, thank you for posting this ❤
This is great
Just wanted to say, thanks for playing the banjo for us! In August I stumbled upon one of your videos never having heard a banjo in my life; a few weeks later I got my first banjo and now I’m learning clawhammer style. The banjo has a very big place in my heart and in my life and I don’t know how I would’ve found it if you hadn’t popped up in my recommend. Thanks a lot Lachlann! 🦔🌷🤍
@@sarabellaiac that's absolutely amazing! Thank you for the kind words and thank you for learning the banjo
I've just discovered your channel from your video performance of I'm Dying, Mother. Such incredible playing and singing! I find your music very comforting and nostalgic. You're wicked talented, thanks for sharing your stuff with the world! :]
Hoppin' Hornpipes, the elusive Lachlann is back! Heard a version of this tune done by Radie Peat and a few other Dublin Trad people as filmed by the Premier film maker of Trad Irish culture, Mr Myles O'Reilly(check out the man's you tube channel). ya play the harp too? Awesome colour co-ordination in the background visuals, eh. Green, brown, dark wood. Very Scot Feng Shui. Regards from the wild Canadian Picts.
lovely song.
Delightful! I had a tune of yours - I didn't realise what it was at first - stuck in my head all of an afternoon the other day. At the River Ardle. Wonderful. Thanks for the lovely little earworm and all the bangers.
@@Wilsonn_esquire I'm glad to provide the earworms!
Love it
Very lovely and uplifting. The kinds of violin melodies i love the most. And the look to match!
Let’s go
