    Can you recommend a spray and cream heat protectant brand?

    I was unable to see my hair growth until I started relaxing my hair. Of course back in my time I use to get what they call now a silk press which didn’t last for more than 2 days if that. Best decision ever!!!

    Indeed! I maintained natural hair for over 20 years, as my parents did not permit me to relax my hair during my childhood. Given that I’ve always been tender headed, once I was old enough to make my own decision, I chose to relax my hair. I’m satisfied with my choice and don’t foresee returning to natural hair no time soon.

    I like how you take your time through her new growth, I’ve had a beautician rip through my hair because of it being so dense with growth, and get it bone straight which I hat. Maybe because I waited 4 months

      Thank you and thanks for watching. Stretching out the time in between relaxers can be a really healthy habit for your hair. That should never be a reason for a stylist to not handle your hair with care. Maybe you can mention why you are stretching, and communicate your hair goals, to see if they are willing to work with you.

    I have long hair under a sew in and I work out. How do you recommend I keep my hair clean and moisturized under the sew in? Also, it gets wet when I work out. Do you recommend that I sit under the dryer when I get back from working out? This seem to be the only way I can get the braids dry underneath and helps it not to itch. My head sweats a LOT when I work out. Sometimes my entire head is wet with sweat!!!

    • @moniquejenebeauty
      @moniquejenebeauty 16 днів тому

      If you CAN sit under a dryer after working out, that would really help. You can also use an ACV scalp rinse when you are shampooing your sew-in. You definitely want to sit underneath a hooded dryer when you shampoo. I’d recommend only keeping your hair in a sew-in no longer than 6-8 weeks and not going back to back with the installs. Your hair and scalp need to be left out in between installs. This will help with maintaining strong healthy hair and a healthy pH of your scalp.

    I had damaged relaxed hair as well as healthy relaxed hair. I had damaged natural curls as well as healthy natural curls. I have now realised I dont need relaxers cos my hair is easily managed whether relaxed or naturally curly. I don't get who appointed people hair police to dictate what we should or shouldn't do to our hair. Anything if mot done properly can damage our hair. I wont relax my hair, thats my choice and in the same voice I will tell people to wear their hair however they want. If relaxed, follow your stylist's advice on haircare. If natural follow your stylist's advice or do your own research. Any hair can be beautiful with good care

    Hi Monique, if you are experiencing breakage from varying areas of demarcation from over or under processed areas how would you treat it?

    • @moniquejenebeauty
      @moniquejenebeauty Місяць тому

      Hi Natalie! First, thanks for watching ❤️ That would really depend on how much of the hair is over processed. If the problem is due to much of the areas being over processed, you can treat the hair with a protein treatment to see if that controls the breakage but eventually the hair is going to need to grow out and the over processed hair will have to be trimmed or cut away. If the under processed hair is the issue (it’s stronger than the relaxed hair), that hair can be spot treated with relaxer. It’s a process that can be tedious but it will help. Ultimately, any over processed hair is not going to be permanently repairable and it will still lead to breakage over time. Growing the hair out and using best practices with frequent trims to remove the over processed hair will be the best option. You could also grow out the hair in a protective style as well. This would still require a big chop or regular trimming to remove the damaged hair. I hope this answers your question.

    Relaxed hair takes lot TLC

  • @hrhsophiathefirst4060
    @hrhsophiathefirst4060 2 місяці тому

    Hello, I am relaxed and yes i have heard the gamut of all the reasons why I should cut my hair off. Usually from a natural with bleach blonde hair too! This client seemed to have very little new growth to relax, or maybe their natural texture was very loose. When was her last relaxer? The reason a lot of people have damaged relaxed hair are typically relaxing too often and also they are not keeping their hair moisturized especially the ends and strengthened with consistent protein treatments. I trim my hair if it needs it, and by me I mean my stylist, once or maybe twice a year, the same amount of times I relax. You spoke lots of good facts.

    • @moniquejenebeauty
      @moniquejenebeauty 2 місяці тому

      Thanks for the feedback. Her hair was heat styled and it was still very straight when she came in, but this client had not had a touch up in 10 weeks. She doesn’t use heat at home so she relaxes her roots around every 10 weeks before coming to me as a new client. Keep the feedback coming. And let me know if you are wanting to see any other types of videos. ❤️❤️

      I mean stretched

    • @moniquejenebeauty
      @moniquejenebeauty 2 місяці тому

      Curly cut stylists are typically taught to cut the hair in its natural dry state. The main reason for this is to keep the shape of the hair looking balanced when worn naturally curly. This technique doesn’t work well for straight or stretched looks. Thanks for watching 😊

    The way she positioned her hand while trying to braid her own hair was not optimal for making a good braid or maintaining control of her hair. I think putting both her hands up and over like a ballerina would definitely help.

      Heyyy! My bad for the late reply. If you are using an actual scalp basing product, all you need to do is make sure that the partings are no more than 1/2 inch apart. The base should liquify with the natural heat of the scalp. It should spread without effort.

    Common sense, profession skill and science! I love it. I relax twice a year as I have a rather loose curl and my stylist uses mild as well. I do a deep protein treatment 2 weeks before Olaplex #2 during relaxer and a deep protein 2 weeks after to maintain the strength. Other than a bi-weekly roller set I do not apply heat, I have a lot of hair and this works great for me and I retain my length. Great job!

      I don’t think it’s too much, especially if you’re not putting direct heat on your hair and just twisting it up. Make sure you are using a good moisturizer and keeping your ends protected for maximum length retention.
