The mesh is bedded as the finish goes through the mesh to the background. Your talking 2-3mm with skim so i don’t see what difference it will make. Render is 10mm plus so yes i would bed it in to the base coat. Either way its not being used on render in this case and the mesh is buried under 2 coats of skim. Not going anywhere. It's best to embbed the mesh into the first coat not put the mesh on first all render suppliers recommend the mesh needs to be close to the surface as possible for strength

Hi You have done a great ,it looks spot on this days two of us do Artex ceilings together .The worsed one is Poly Ribble which has mica in it and can have it's problems .Regards Chris

Top work! I have a wall that is rough texture/Artex and it's been painted with eggshell paint. Can I use pva and then skim over that?

Looks to me like that external wall doesn't have a proper cavity therefore dri wall adhesive would be a no no.

what do you think of the adhesive foam method for boarding

We would grit glue, use paper tape for any cracks, carlite bonding then whilst still tacky apply the multi-finish which the Bonding takes with it. Just starting my 47th year the trowel and starting to fall apart. Keep up the good work lads.

To be fair mate, i normally only do 2 mixes. But this was a case of get it done asap so i pulled my finger out. Shoulder was killing me after this 😅
