Переглядів 4145 років тому
I backpacked both the 3 lakes loop and Low Gap trail in Morgan Monroe State Forest. It’s roughly 22 miles. It was an overnight trip. I did about 16 miles on day 1. (3 lakes loop and half the Low Gap Trail). I camped in the back country camp site area and hiked the remaining miles back to my truck. Enjoy!

Beautiful vid.
Thank you!!
Who did you use as your shuttle driver?
I can't remember. But theres a ton of folks who shuttle from the train stop to Amicacola. It's pretty easy to arrange!!
Why are your comments turned off on newer videos?
beats me
It was great to meet you on the Colorado trail!! And I found your UA-cam!! Hope your hike is amazing and looking forward to your video! Sean Kelly
It was great meeting you too! Hope the hike went well
@@khevinbeatsworkinwatterson1848 heading to finish the Foothills trail in a couple weeks. So that will be fun.
Spanx for the video
Wow! Love your backpacking adventures video! This hike is now on our bucket list! Thank you for sharing! Can't wait to get on the trail soon!
Thank you so much!!
Loved the video. I'm planning to do the same section. How many days did it take you to hike (not including zero days), and where did you camp each night? Thanks!
Khevin enjoyed the video. Hiking the JMT for the 2nd time starting July 22nd. Heading northbound this time out of Kennedy Meadows.
Sweet!! When are you going? I’ll be out twice this year. Late July for a week with the wife sobo from bishop to Whitney then August 3 doing the HST and JMT NOBO. Thx for watching!!
@@khevinbeatsworkinwatterson1848 cool. Plan is to summit Whitney 8/1 Looks like we might just run into each other 👍this season
@@Ericidryfly that would be great!!
Northern Indiana group looking to section hike the AT in 2022. Haven't picked our section yet, but your video presented a great section to consider. Thanks for sharing. 💚
It’s a great section!!
Yes, so I have heard. I can't wait to register and get a hang tag.
Thanks for documenting your section hike. Great information. What time of year did you complete the hike?
Thanks for watching!! We did it in mid May. Perfect time to go. The leaves weren’t all the way up so it made for great views all day long!!
Great video man, enjoyed it 👍 I've subscribed to your channel, maybe you could subscribe to my channel also 🇬🇧
Awesome video guys! Georgia has a lot of Great hikes that's for sure. Thanks for sharing
Your video is very well put together and I enjoyed it. Thank you.
Thanks so much!!
SWEET! I really like how the switchbacks at the end of the video looked. Them burgers looked KICK ASS TOO.
Awesome video. Thanks for sharing.
Way to go Khevin!
We fly out Saturday...can’t wait! Hst to JMT nobo is the plan if the fires don’t screw us up.
Richard Moran nice!! Enjoy!!!
Gotta love cuben fiber. Assume Zpacks will fix it for ya? I’m not a fan of the xtra light cuben. My MLD Duomid is lil heavy think .74
Richard Moran it’s actually lasted about 3000 miles so i wasn’t too upset
Great video, you guys tore it up.
Randy Kent thanks! It was a great trip
That was a quick hike! Record time i'd say... :)
How long does the Georgia hike take?
Andrew Green it took us 4 days. Thx for watching!!
Can’t wait to get back to Sierra this September! Dirty hippy didn’t share! puff puff give! Nothing like getting high in the high Sierra!😂
Richard Moran I’m heading out tomorrow!! 1 month, 500 miles!! Thanks for watchinh
Khevin Beats Workin Watterson nice! Where ya starting/finishing?
How was high trail to thousand island lake? Did the JMT last may do as you did...thoughts?
How long did it take point to point ?
Sal D. I believe it took me 16 days including 2 zero days. So 14 hiking days
Is the Peninsula trail from the parking lot 5 miles to the peninsula/ 5 miles back ?
Hunter Long yep. 10 mile round trip
Great video! I did JMT few years back as a flip flop out of reds due to pita getting
Permit. Headed back this September to do HST to Whitney then JMT nobo...can’t wait! Looking forward to vvr, still debating on ferry in/out...
I would walk the bear ridge side trail into VVR and take the ferry back to the JMT. Bear ridge trail is pretty easy walking and saves you backtracking to the ferry going to VVR. I did this on my NOBO JMT and it worked out well. Plus the Ferry is pretty fun
Khevin Beats Workin Watterson yea Bear ridge trail is likely what we will do if timing works thinking about taking the other trail out of VVR that goes to Goodale pass and skips silver. Thoughts?
Goodall pass trail is nice. So is the JMT. It’s a toss up. If you haven’t done the JMT section I’d do it.
Khevin Beats Workin Watterson i did the JMT sobo over silver few years back. I prefer to connect the footsteps though
Could you shed more light into your shuttle from the Northsprings MARTA Station to the AT ?
Iblame Summers Yes. Basically any shuttle driver on the AT shuttle lost will pick you up there. You’ll pick up the MARTA train right at the airport and take “i think the red line” to the last stop. North Springs? Where your shuttle will pick you up. Very very easy. There’s an REI on the way to Amicacola. If you need gas or so,etching. There’s also several groceries on the way too.
Try to focus on breathing in through your nose and exhaling out through your mouth. You’ll get so much more oxygen into your lungs this way, and you won’t be gasping for air so much. Beautiful video, thanks for sharing
How many pounds did y'all average carrying? Also, is there plenty of places to get water day to day, such as from streams, etc? I am planning on trying the Georgia section sometime this summer.
ovationsensation thx for watching. I’m pretty lightweight. I was roughly 14lbs total weight including food\water. The wife was about 19lbs. There’s plenty of water the entire way. We only carried 1L at a time. Try the guthooks app for your phone. It’s pretty accurate
@@khevinbeatsworkinwatterson1848 Thank you.
I❤️her!! Fergie & Jesus lol
I am doing this same section this May.
Lori Lindsey it was a great hike! May is nice because no leaves are up yet so the views are epic
That looked like an awesome hike! Well done video. I love how the rain totally changed the colors of the rock! Can't wait till May.
Could one do it on a electric fatbike?
No bikes allowed according to the sign in this video.
Nice video. Cool looking trail. ✌️
AS THE CROW FLIES HIKING thanks!!!
Cool video and channel. Subscribed. ✌️
Thank you so much!
Great video!
Thank you!!
Thanks for sharing. A nice video. 👍
Enjoyed this video. Thanks for sharing. Looks like you two had quite the adventure on the AT in Georgia
Metro On The Move thanks for watching! It was a blast
Khevin Beats Workin Watterson just subbed! Just completed Unicoi to Dicks Creek Gap over the weekend. Let’s keep moving!
How many days did you take, looked like 5 nights. How do you find where all the water sources are, thinking about doing this same trail.
It was 5 days of hiking. We did some bigger mile days though. The guthook app for your phone shows most water sources. In the Sierra water is NEVER far away. Thx for watching!
Duck Pass is an awesome walk to the JMT. Loved it as we came around the pass curve and got a glimpse of the lake. Hummingbird is a trooper! I also hope I get to see clouds like you did at bishop pass - those were gorgeous. Maybe we'll run into you out there next year bro!
Thank you!! That storm was a highlight for me. Hummingbird was too sick to enjoy it so I took lots of pix for her. It was truly a magical/ COLD/WINDY day!!
What a great video! One of the most enjoyable I’ve seen in a while. Plus I kinda like you two!
Thank you so much!! Back at ya!!
Beautiful footage. Enjoyed your video.
Really enjoyed your video. I like your mixture of background music, good videoing, commentary and still shots. Thats how you want to do a hiking video. I am going to start the adventure of my life time in February of 2020, as I begin my thru-hike of the Appalachian Trail. I'll v-logg my journey NOBO all the way to Katahdin. I SUBSCRIBED to your channel, clicked the bell and liked your video. Looking forward to more!
Kamper 2020 .thank you!! I’ll be looking forward to your videos
@@khevinbeatsworkinwatterson1848 Thanks brother.
Love this video man! If you don’t mind, could I pm you with a couple of questions about your packing list and equipment? Trying to plan a GA AT section hike with my father in law before it gets too frosty. Cheers bro!
Andrew Estes sure! It’s Khevin Watterson on messenger
I just got back this evening and you camped in the exact spot we did!!!! That was our home too for the last five days. Three days sun and two days downpour. Nothing like that place. (Two days first then two days rain and final day sun) The sunsets there are second to none. Thank you for sharing! Agreed on the comment that it is fairly easy trail. A slice of heaven is the Charles C Deam penninsula trail.
Elliot Hill nice! Glad you had a good time
Why didn't you sleep in the shelter instead of camping outside?
Ramone926 because most shelters are pretty dirty and infested with mice.
I love this vid. I got lots of info that I didnt know. We are section hiking this oct.
Outdoorsy Wanna be thank you!!
This was great, Khevin. Very helpful, thanks. I am leaving on similar route in a couple of weeks. I noticed you modified one of your water bottles with a hose/straw and bite valve. I would really like to do that. How did you do it?
Nick Creadon thanks! It’s a “smartube” with a 90 degree platypus bite valve. It works very well. Completely hands free
Love this video, how many days did take you to do the section. My husband and I are planning to do it in September, we live in north GA, about an hour or so from Amicalola. I’m not a fast hiker tho. Also where did you ended up, we need to make pick up arrangements. Looks like Dicks creek gap is before the NC/GA border, we want to hike to that point and get picked up afterwards. Thank you , very informative video. Love all your commentary and the scenery shots as well.
I think it took us 7 days including 1 zero and 1 Nero day. We stopped at Dicks creek and got a shuttle to town. It's best to call at the top of the mountain a few miles before dicks creek. No cell service at the Gap. Thx for watching!!
Nice vid with good info. Gonna do GA in late 2019. I found alot of good info in the comments to. Thanks to all the info you gave in comments.
ReelDistractionAction thank you!
