    OMG that's exactly what my bike looked like when I bought it in '88. Same color and decals. Having been run over 3x on it, and modded or replaced everything but the mainframe and the engine, let's say it doesn't look too much like this anymore. 😂 Thanks for the flashback.

    Hi Mark, Did you sell the bike to a UK buyer or a US buyer? I owned the bike from 2005 to 2021. I bought it from a guy from California. Killed me to sell it. I want to buy it back. The motor was never apart. The only thing I saw disturbed were the clutch cover screws and a bent silencer bracket. I have the original shocks for it. Do you think the new owner would consider selling it back to me at some point?

    I did not know those Enfield Indians were made so late. MK II Enfield. So strange that the entire engine was redesigned a year or two before production ended. What for? What made Norton Villers want to spend the money at that time? It also appears to have a Norton fork. Good on you for making it run.

    • @greeneyemotorcycles.markgr3522

      Motor is the final MK11 Interceptor 750, bike built by Italjet in Bologna for Floyd Clymer. Only a handful made.....

    • @paulblouin6955
      @paulblouin6955 2 роки тому

      @@greeneyemotorcycles.markgr3522 Thanks for the additional information. I didn't know the bikes were that different from an interceptor. I knew Italjet made Indian minibikes. Didn't know they made big bikes. Were any Enfield Indians Straight rebadged Enfields? The Indian Italjet Enfield connection may help explain why there were lots of engines left when Norton Villers shut down production. Enough to make Rickman Enfields to get rid of them.

    • @greeneyemotorcycles.markgr3522
      @greeneyemotorcycles.markgr3522 2 роки тому

      Yes, some Indians in the 50's were re badged Royal Enfields but this is a Floyd Clymer Indian Enfield 750, he also used Velocette 500 engines in the same frame. And yes the unused engines from the Clymer Enfield Indian project were sold to Rickman who built them into the Rickman Interceptor.@@paulblouin6955

    • @paulblouin6955
      @paulblouin6955 2 роки тому

      @@greeneyemotorcycles.markgr3522 l saw an Indian Velocette at Sonny Angel's shop in San Diego some time in the 80s. I saw them in the 1970 Cycle Magazine Buyers Guide when I was 15 or so, but I didn't think they were really a bike that was sold. I thought Clymer was behind all the attempts to revive Indian in the day.

      @paulblouin6955 2 роки тому

      @@greeneyemotorcycles.markgr3522 In about 1985, first coast to coast motorcycle ride, my Trident seized a clutch pull rod bearing. Using Yellow pages I found a shop nearby which specialized in Royal Enfield. I was in a motel by one of the Eastern Finger Lakes. The shop was in the town where John Smith had his vision. The shop was part time. The owner worked in a machine shop. Probably 40 Enfield twins 500cc and up. He was crazy about them. He ordered parts from Xenia Ohio for my Triumph. At that time they only sold to shops at Domiracer. That weekend I hitched to Watkins Glenn for the GTP race. Parts showed up and I got it together one night in the shop oners barn. New Primary chain too. My Enfield never gave much trouble but I didn't ride it hard much and a 150 mile ride was about as far as it went with me. Smoothest rigid mounted British twin I ever rode. It blew oil out of the breather if I rode it hard. Tried to street race it a bit against the Lightning I had st the time and my buddy's 69 Bonneville but it was so easy to miss gears with it. I don't know if they all did that. Mine is the only one I rode. My dad's buddy was into them singles and twins and rode them in scrambles. Saw him thrown in the air in our driveway when his single kicked back. Saw him repeatedly try to great a hill outside Parker on an Interceptor desert sled. He held getting thrown at the same ditch on the hill. He helped on Don Slinger's RE double Interceptor engine LSR bike. It topped 204 at Bonneville on one run, and got a record at 196+. Fastest unstreamlined bike ever in 1970 or 71. Centerspread in Cycle Guide, I think, at the time. I hung the photo on my bedroom wall. Thanks for clarifying some stuff. My transmission was way less positive than a AMC BSA or Triumph, or any Japanese bike I tried. It missed shifts if I was in a hurry. Are they all like that? I never rode any other than mine.

    Wonderful bike! I do like the earlier Interceptors better than the MKII, as the styling on these always seemed a bit awkward. But with the Italjet chassis, this makes a heck of a fine looking motorcycle!

    That was my bike that I had since 1992. Loved riding it but Father Time has taken his toll and I had to let her go. I am the old guy who retired to Florida😀 In 2018 I had the primary belt, drive sprocket with +2 teeth installed. New regulator, Pingel peacock, EZ Pull clutch and new cable, braided brake line, new front pads, carb cleaned and and rear brake switch. Fluids changed every 1000 miles or so. This bike will run for a long time if properly maintained. Whoever has it is a lucky person. Keep the shiny side up!

      What a gem, this is a great piece of history. I am glad to see it survived and not getting chopped in the 2000's craze. I have a 1991 FXSTS from original owner in 2000 He Purchased from York, Pa HD dealer right up the street from the Harley Plant where they were built. Mine is a 1 in 500 paint scheme(Black Cherry and Black). Now I am in Florida, I would have loved to got this from you first. Happy trails to whomever got it. Best wishes to you too and your retirement here in Florida.
