      Ive tried higher end models they.. chug I'm hoping my new computer will run a bit better so I can do a comparison of hardware generations video. this server is ideal for small testing or learning, or slow training. if you want to do higher level models you'll need to build a beefier server or use the cloud. its been a while but on certain larger models it would just spool the fans and take minutes to even write first token.

    It worked very well, thanks, but one book failed to convert, repeatedly, with no explanation. Any ideas about that? Fifty some odd other audible books in my Amazon account were processed fine in Libation except for three that had disappeared ("borrowed"?). Can I get the books to play on my Kobo device? I haven't found any information about doing that.

      hm, I'm not sure how to help. I've never had an issue with any titles not working. as for the Kobo question I'm not sure, I have a boox tablet in house rn for testing but I've never used one of the kobos, you'd have to look into that on the GitHub. if the kobo can install android apps or at least play the converted files, I don't see why it wouldn't work.

    I got mine few days back. Just like you, more on for note taking. I considered the fact that it's light, I can organise my notes, may it be for work or personal stuff. I was apprehensive at first cuz I also like the colour. But based on the reviews online, the cons about it vs the colour is the feel of writing on it. So that made me buy that. As someone writing from ipad to boox go 10.3 I can say there a big difference i really enjoy writing on it. As fsr as reading, I find it challenging navigating the pdf files. Putting annotations is cool although it would be a lot nicer if it's coloured. Plus the fact that it's do so much but since it's black and white, it help ne to be more focus on reading but at the same time it's gives me that option. Files transfer, I used Dropbox. Plus I can also just insert my USB

    Overall good video (first time viewer), but I do have a couple of notes: 1. It's always fun to have montage/cutaway when someone makes a mistake, but 13 seconds is way too long, especially if it's followed by another 5 seconds. Please keep those to a minimum, like a second or two, just as an highlight. 2. I get it's a video for the laymen, but H/A is a concept, not a way to do things. Even something that requires manual intervention can be an H/A strategy, but with a poor RTO (Recovery time objective). What you are doing in this video is an auto-failover. 3. Why go through all the trouble of setuping keepalived, when you could simply set the DHCP to configure both DNS servers? You would achieve the same, but it's way simpler. The DHCP service (if enabled) would need to serve 2 different ranges (to prevent colision), but that's about it. Unsure if obital sync supports this, but if not, it can be configured in the dnsmasq config file.

    • @Technogizguy
      @Technogizguy 10 днів тому

      1. I thought the bit was funny as it was, and generally I make content I would enjoy watching since gaming the system is too much of a chore. 2. You may be technically correct but absolutely no one in the space would ever consider it HA if it does not auto failover 3. the DNS in my router points to other systems I'm running as backup or test, and genuine backup servers. Going through the trouble as you put it, is a fantastic way to learn the concept of something incredibly important to everyday infrastructure.

    Anyone curious about the power usage I did the math: At Idle the server pulls 150w. Running LLMs the highest I saw was 380W but only while the model is "thinking" . Using Fooocus for some image generation I saw a max power draw of 250w So we will say 400w max which is honestly impressive. and my Local Electric Cost is $0.1766/KWh so to run the server for 24 hours at absolute max load would cost me about $1.70 or about $51 a month to run at full tilt. If I left the server on all the time it wouldn't be at full tilt all the time so even assuming a ~50% duty cycle we could expect costs of about 35$ a month to run. Im not gonna bother to do the idle math because you'd never build a server and have it idle for a month (just turn it off at that point) These numbers do not include the additional heat that the server will put out which will require some form of cooling either actively or passively like my system gets being in a basement.

      Great question, ill be honest i have no idea. I know what the whole rack pulls on average without the ai server and since i only run it when im doing research its probably not much. Ill stick a wattmeter on and reply to this thread with its current draw under load and ill grab my power cost to figure out the rough math but id say probably about 5-600watts *Edit* At Idle with no load at all the server pulls 150w. Obviously I'm excluding the added heat to the house but in my case the rack heats my basement to about 70°F all year round so for me its a non-issue 😃

    Thank you for mentioning watching movies and content, I'm not the only person who wants an extremely colour-accurate, high quality image monitor for movies and youtube and every day tasks, I'm not a graphic designer or anything like that, I just appreciate high quality audio and video (relative to my reasonable but not high-end budget) I am going to buy an Oled but given my extremely long hours every day, much of it with a particular Twitch channel on that happens to have a very bright florescent boarder around the video content, it would no doubt burn in within a month or two if I was to use an Oled. So, because I Really want the pure blacks and beautiful image that Oled offers, my compromise is to use two monitors, one IPS colour accurate 4k, maybe this one for my everyday tasks and the Oled likely though I hate the gamer design, the top of the line Oled Asus as its the only quality Glossy oled that includes Dolby Vision for me connecting an Apple 4K box which I only connected this morning and still have much to work out, ie how to get my windows Apple tv library content to show up in my apple tv 4k box library. using the Oled for movies, streaming series and my bluray player.

    I think there is a ratio between how big a model is and how fast it is. For this reason having lots of vram on slower cards is not really useful for day to day usage. Equally having a fast card with little vram also doesn’t make mush sense. Did you have to do anything to have the vram of the two cards combined? And do they need to be the same cards?

The ring is definitely not a whoop replacement it's more of a beginner stage to the loop or maybe a good addition to the woop but if you're already a whoop user you're absolutely going to lose features going to this ring but this ring is a fraction of the cost with no subscription. I also think that a talented hacker and programmer could Snoop the Bluetooth traffic and build their own app and probably get more data out of it the impression I get from the app is whoever made it they probably do not have a very large team if it's more than one guy/gal

      Welcome to the family, yeah many of the data center cards use 8pin eps for power. It can be adapted semi easily. One thing you can do is grab a power supply to run your gpus and they sell these little jumpers on Amazon you plug into the ATX side that will trick the power supply and thinking there's a motherboard so you can turn it on and just give your gpus power through like an 800 watt power supply it's what all the crypto miners do all you got to do is pick up a power supply and one of those cheap $15 adapters to turn them on on Amazon or you can make an adapter just by jumping the signal wire to ground the wiring may not be the prettiest but it'll get you more GPU room if power is your limiting factor
