saying colgera is the best zelda dungeon boss is just so incorrect. Colgera is great, dgmw, but i can (and will) name 5 bosses that are better than colgera in most aspects (atmosphere, looks and mechanics (not music probably tho)). koloktos phantom ghanon oot Stallord goht twinrova i could keep going but my point is: although colgera is fun, has a great atmosphere and music, mechanically, when compared to most of the best bosses in the franchise, it is subpar. koloktos and stallord are the best bosses in the franchise btb and i dont even think its subjective at that stage

More often than not I prefer to play a Super Metroid map randomizer rather than anything in my steam library (which includes great games, recent stuff...). So yeah, no nostalgia at all, SM is just great

I dont know if you remember me, but I was the Majora's mask glazer during your zelda game tierlist. Before playing any Zelda games, Super Metroid was one of the first SNES games I've played, and I can 100% say its my favourite game of all time. Nostalgia definitely influences what I say about Super Metroid, but I truely believe that it's an amazing game. Everything you said is 100% valid, as almost everyone, including myself, can agree with Spazer being in an awkward place, or the controls being funky. But it was so influential that it sparked an entire genre, and it got me into playing other SNES games like A Link to the Past, which sent me down a whole other path, Like towards your channel, and into this comment section. With all due respect, I automatically felt I couldn't take your rankings seriously after you said Breath of the Wild was the first Zelda you've played. If the LEAST Zelda-like game is your introduction to Zelda, you'll have a skewed opinion, and you don't truly know Zelda. Not only that, but the game came out in 2017 with modern tech and all the resources at the developer's disposal, unlike the games developed before the early 2000's. Only real fans understand that the best Zelda's were games like A link to the Past and Ocarina of Time, because they simply revolutionized the genre. There were literally no other games like it that were on the market at that time. Some would even say they were ahead of its time. Botw took inspiration from Skyrim and many other OpenWorld games, and though its a solid game, to me its not "Zelda" neither is TotK.

If you haven't experienced everything Totk has to offer, it's "Wow factor" would have anybody think it's one of the best in the series and it does have some of the most exhilarating moments in the series. My issue with it, is once you've done all of the main things, all there is left to do is basically stuff you've already done in BotW. For me, both games have the worst rewards system in the entire series, because once you've found the bulk of reward types, then you'll see it for the majority of your play time. In order to avoid this monotony, you have to force yourself to ignore much of the game during future playthroughs. The less of the Depths you explore, the better off the experience will be, because you realize that everything down there is just copied and pasted. There's too many one-size fits all solutions to many challenges, especially when they're just the same ones over and over again. Many concepts introduced in the Great Sky Islands are diched for much of the game.

TOTK gets too much hate online. I agree, after 130 something hours you're done with the game and probably won't replay it. But man what an experience. I also had the privilege to play BOTW at the Switch's launch, but enough time had passed between playing the first game that the world wasn't as familiar to me upon revisiting it in TOTK. Plus the better use case for all the items you gather throughout the world really completed the original idea and gave the collecting a real purpose.

Mario Wonder for me set the gold standard for 2d Mario games. Mario Bros U games were just sad.

I chuckle a bit at your complaints about the original Zelda being tedious. To the modern gamer it probably is, but that tediousness was actually a lot of the fun as a gamer playing during that time. The lack of memory was a problem with NES games. Games are usually high in difficulty. They had to be. Once you master games like contra or Castlevania they don't take very long to beat. If you can quickly master them you'll feel ripped off when you spend $50 (80's money) on a game you master and beat in an hour or 2. I can remember having a helluva time finding the 3rd sword. Back then part of the fun was the tediousness. Methodically bombing every rock and burning every bush on every screen looking for secrets. The manual told us about all the items that existed. It was a treasure hunt to find them. It was fun. That part of the game was really exciting, and you were the man at school if you were the first to find the power bracelet, the 3rd sword, the very well hidden levels 5 and 7 etc.

Zelda and Zelda 2 are hard, but that's the point. They did not hold your hand the way modern Zelda games do. Trial and error, and exploring, was the point of those games. Most old school NES games threw you into the action and expected you to figure it out either with the manual or by talking to your friends who beat those games. Zelda 2 absolutely holds up. It's so much fun. The second quest is great since you're able to plow through everything quickly. The first round is punishing though. You have to level up early and quickly to make it past the later levels. I love playing it and discovering strategies I never thought of. Link to the Past is the best gets back to what the first one did...but better. It's really fun to beat the levels out of order. Best Zelda game.

I think totk would deserve more than Mario party and Pokémon Scarlett/violet

Well about zelda one. You need the Booklet to enjoy the game. The booklet is like a roadmap. It gives you the Basic directions, but not a step to step Guide. It was the 1980s technology was yet there for stories, and good gameplay. Unlike the snes. Where the link in the past was the game they wanted you to play. The first one was a stepping stone, and the booklet was the Developers helping you explore your thier game.

i agree with the second take like they literally got rid of all traces of botw in totk and the calamity is mentioned like once by zelda. :(

A Link to the Past is where the series really became something. And A Link Between Worlds was a fantastic love letter to that game.

Zelda 1: Old and crusty, but a great adventure where you're free to just run around, find and do things in almost any order you discover them. Saying 'use a guide' is the worst advice you can give someone for this title, as it removes that great feeling of discovery whenever you get something cool. The first adventure is very beatable just wandering around and finding stuff over a series of sittings. Second quest though? Yeah, use a guide for that one. Zelda 2: This is the only game in the franchise that feels outright painful to play. Your attack range is pitiful (getting down stab helps a lot later at least), and you get no items to help the matter. It's way harder than the first, but also way more punishing. I'd honestly say skip this one aside from the novelty. ALttP: People are saying this one's outdated? It's basically Zelda's Super Metroid. It's a great game.

Skyward sword motion controls makes the game just bad. The game have a lot of great ideas but the gameplay is just bad.

Thank you for this a lot of people let nostalgia blind them. Majora mask and the wind waker are not good games. I think twilight princess is to low. The game story is really good.

Nice video!! I like how a lot of these are pretty much "yeah it's good but doesn't stand out" haha. That's the pokemon/mario effect for ya, the name is what sells. Luckily the Mario franchise is pretty consistently bangers or at least good and the pokemon franshise is usually alright. I mostly agree, though I'd say I like and respect Ultimate more due to its massive amount of content and playing casually is always a blast like you mentioned. MK8D defibitely deserves top spot, though while the Booster Pass is really good it definitely has a good amount of misses in terms of courses imo.

I honestly don't get why some people would dislike Smash Ultimate especially it's definitive experience in the entire franchise even above Melee. Is it completely perfect? No as there's a few things I would've liked to see in the game and World of Light is too long and monotonous and easily worse than Subspace Emissary, but aside from that, it has the best gameplay in the franchise yet and having every single character and damn near every stage on top of quality of life additions and newer gimmicks all makes up for it.

Gotta say I agree with Majoras Mask and Wind Waker. MM is carried by atmosphere and WW is carried by cartoony charm.

Just got it last month for the switch. The motion controls were the entire reason I never played it in 2011. I know I'm still in the honeymoon phase of liking this game but I kinda think that Skyward Sword is actually 2nd place only behind OOT. This game is so good and the ultimate "classic" Zelda experience. I truly think this game is going to age better than every other 3D zelda game besides OOT. Ocarina of time is just on the pantheon of best games ever to be created so what can you do lol.
