Thank you so much! In just 15 minutes I was able to save 15% or more by switching to Geico!
My chain is losing parts next to plastic plate and wiring is trying to jump over the top get hung in sprocket... shiddy design failure built in
Should replace harness. All the wiring is weak. Not very expensive to replace whole harness. Repair them is good for temporary fix. IMO
I know this an old post but gotta give credit where it's due. Just picked up a well used 2005 DGC with the same issue. Door would open slightly when the button on the panel was pushed and it would lock closed but wouldn't slide function at all. Found this post and followed your instructions. I didn't have to look far, the ground wire was chafed and broken right at the 2nd "link" in that flex tray. Quick splice and some turns of electrical tape and the door works perfectly. Thanks for the DIY, saved me frustration and $$$ !
Best way to fix it is to buy a toyota.
Not sure how old this recall is, www.google.com/url?sa=t&source=web&rct=j&url=www.chrysler.com/webselfservice/pdf/k14.pdf&ved=2ahUKEwjQ-Lfo74TdAhVh0YMKHct9Cz4QFjALegQIBRAB&usg=AOvVaw2zbDMpQaV6tbILGnfRKWUb K14
How can I get my door to open 1 to 2 inches more?
worked for me!! thanks!!
My kids slumg the door open on my 2013 Dodge Grand Caravan and the door would not close in the back. I flipped the locking mechanism back and the door shut but the door open light won't go off nor will the dome lights? Can you tell me where the door ajar switch is?
Welcome where there is a suction spot suction doors for Dog Town Country 2006
What is the purpose of the wires inside this plastic tracking chain? I bought a brand new set up less than a year ago...$124, and had a mechanic change it out (more $$$) for me. It's broken again in several places already, even though I've tried to keep it strait and repaired. If the wires just tell the instrument panel that the door is ajar, then I am going to remove the whole thing. This car was wrecked before I bought it, and there is an always present DOOR AJAR light on the dash board from a broken connection someplace inside the bodyworks.
From what I can tell all those wires actually do alot. The plastic track broke and wires were exposed and i never fixed it. Now the wires are in rough shape, some even cut. None of the rear windows will roll down now, the doors won't work with the buttons and im sure there are some other things I can't think of, as i don't drive it so i don't know.
Just for maintenance what could I spray on that mechanism to lubricate it
Thank you Thank you Thank you, saved me so much money, took me an hour but now works like a charm!
Sensational job! With your help, I was able to easily repair my Caravan sliding door in about 10 minutes and saved myself hundreds of dollars by doing it myself! Many thanks and keep up the great work!
Can the plastic chain thing be replaced?
It can be replaced but you have to find the proper drag chain cover for yours vehicle
@@juliamckelvey5893 Can you help, where to find just plastic chain for sliding door? thx
It was not the wiring harness on mine. Still, the door won't open. The motor is good, the door latch is good. When I press the button to open it, it just make a sound, but doesn't open at all. When I close it alittle, it close automatically, but it won't open or close all the way. Now what happen? :(
nice video, I thought the cap comment about the cap falling off at the end was comical, like almost on purpose :-) Thanks for the video, very helpful!
Thanks! This was exactly the problem I had. Your video was a great help!
I had the problem of the lift gate not opening. I just replaced the lift gate struts and it now works fine.
I have used this video to fix both of my doors on a couple of occasions. When I've done this before, the door would open partially, but not all the way. The "closer motor" also worked, so when i manually shut the door, the motor would close it all the way. The problem I am having now is the "closer motor" is not working at all when I manually shut the door. So, would this be the same problem as this video is showing, or is that motor something different? I'm thinking different but can anyone say for sure before I take the wire housing apart and start looking for broken wires?
Hi! My 2005 Grand Caravan's liftgate is not working, some times it opens with the remote keys or with the button on the top panel, but most of them not. Does any body have the same problem or have an idea on what it could be? Thanks!
you are the man.... saved me hundreds...tks.... 1 small wire broked
THUMBS UP , SIR. gReat Vid
Is there a correlation between what failure mode the door is and which of the wires to focus on? I have previously spliced and obvious break but know I have both doors malfunctioning again. * One door seems to close fine (for now), but upon opening it just pops open and stops (no motor sounds after initial opening. * The other door will almost completely shut just short about 3 inches and the Motor continues to run but the door is stuck in the 3-inch opened position. This same door from a shut position will only open to that 3-inch location and motor runs but no movement of the door. The wires "look" good.
Thanks for the vid. Just fixed a broken wire in my door as well.
This video is really good. My wife and me fixed two sliding doors in less than an our. You saved us lots of money, thanks for sharing.
Dude your rock!!!, I thought I would have to take my 2007 Town&Country in to be fixed. With your video, I was able to find and fix my wiring in 10 minutes. It was really easy to find the broken wire. (hint: look for the one that is separated from its other half.) My door works great now!
I am wondering you would be able to tell me where to get the plastic track parts?? The wiring is still good but I need to replace the plastic track pieces as a couple of them broke... watched your video, thank you!!!
Whst did you find out on the replacement links?... mine is doing the same thing next to plastic plate wire jumping over top getting hung in srocket... stupid design
@@kennethjohnson6223 as far as I know you can only find the parts in junkyards now and any cables found there will still have broken wires but you should find the plastic track parts okay.
Thank you. This was very helpful
thank you for the vid. great help.
Thanks for sharing this. Just what I need.
Thanks so much for doing this. My power door hasn't' been working for about a year. I followed your video and it's working great!
This was exactly the problem on my 2004 Town & Country. Thanks so much for posting this, took 30 minutes to repair!
Pete Zeimet Fantastic video. I fixed my sons passenger door in an hour.I really liked the fact that you showed exactly how to take the things apart. That plastic stuff can be tricky. It so nice to get good info. Do you have a video on 07 front a/c evap removal? Keep up the great work, thanks so much.
Just before the doors started malfunction, our doors opened up on us while driving down the highway with 3 year old next to the door. Then the doors started to open up only a few inches. Shortly thereafter, they quit working all together and I noticed a solid black wire handing our on the passenger side wire track in the door. I will also be fixing this problem after watching your post. Thank you for your video.
Thank you for taking the time to make this video.
I thought the door motor had went bad. The ground wire was completely cut in half. Cleared the rubber around the wire and took some butt conectors and it works like new! Thanks for the video!
My 2005 has all the symptoms! Cant wait to check it out!
Hi - thanks so much for the video. I was on the brink of having to spend £400 to get the door fixed by our local chrysler dealer!! Thanks

I will be doing this on my 2004! Thank you so much for posting!
Hello thanks so much for the tutorial. I believe it was your video that I used about two years ago to do the Passenger side door. The Driver's side door is now only opening a few inches and then has a motor winding sound. The same is true when shutting the door, it gets to 2" and stops with motor winding. I checked the Wires and all seems good. I do remember Cleaning the brass clutch plate and magnet of the the door motor, but this was to let the door move more freely when opening manually.
Worked great thank you (took less than ten minutes)
Sir, you saved me $400. It was easy to find the break because when I moved the wire, I could hear the electronics beeping and then stop beeping if I moved it another direction. A sincerest thank you to you and yours!!!
Thanks for posting. This ROCKS! Saved me a bunch of money.
Thanks for this post and good video. My daughter's van passenger door has failed and it is out of warranty. Now I'll give it a shot thanks to your video.
Excellent Post - Thank you
