      I believe the stops on the valve allow for four - 1/4 turns. Shut off the water and pull the valve and rotate 1/4 turn, left or right and that should align it the way you want.

      It is different in many homes. A condo will have a single shut-off by the meter. Single family homes and duplexes often have a shut-off valve near a hose bibb nearest the street below the pressure reducer. If not sure, call your water company.

    After getting everything replaced, one handle is now at a right angle to where it should be because it appears that the bracket in the process of removing the old cartridge managed to get turned 45°. I've tried a couple different ways to see if I could get it to rotate back 45° and so far everything just feels like I want to break something inside so I think we're going to have one handle north south and one handle east west.

    What really annoys me in these things is "this pulls right off". I have literally never had a handle pull right off. It's a battle with gallons of WD-40 or PB blaster and and I wish someone would do a actual real world video of how to actually get the handles off after you've remove the set screw.

    I have the same Delta Roman tub deck mount. My leak is happening under the facet handles. When I pull the tub panel off, there are black cartridges under each knob. Then there is a solid piece of copper and a flexible piece of copper that comes out the bottom of the cartridge. That is where my leak is on both faucets. the leak is coming from the bottom of the cartridge and dripping down the solid and flex copper. Will this valve replacement repair that or is the housing cartridge the issue? Delta just sent me the whole new rough in kit for free. But if I can just pull the new valve out of the new rough in and reset it in the existing housing, that should stop my leak if I put the new spring and seat the rubber boot over top then drop the cartridge in, will I be good?

    • @larrypatterson3957
      @larrypatterson3957 3 роки тому

      The rough-in kit is a lot of work. I would try the valve replacement first. Take a plumber’s 3/4” wire brush and make sure there is no scale built up in the cartridge chamber. Put in a new, matching, spring and rubber piece. Before inserting the new cartridge use your finger to make sure the spring and gasket are fully seated in its hole. Once I take off the large nut that secures the cartridge, I take a photo with your phone so I can make sure I re-insert the new valve correctly with the proper plastic piece inserted correctly. Then snug the locking cap down securely, not gorilla tight, but snug. Good luck.

      @@larrypatterson3957 You ROCK, Sir!!! Ty for getting back to me so fast. Yes, I know exactly what you are talking about with that spring. I made a total idiot move, that nut was lose under the faucet for whatever reason, When I pulled the handle off and felt that the lock down nut was lose it shot straight into the air, of course it was the hot water side. So as water is hitting the ceiling I did what came natural, put my hand over top and scalded my hand from the hot water as Im screaming for help to have someone shut off the water, THANK GOD, I was able to reach down with my other hand and pull the shut off lever I remembered seeing under the tub, thank GOD the first lever I grabbed was the hot water shut off. This dude had has his hot water tank set to the hottest setting to fill up his tub. So when I tell u this water was scolding hot, I mean it! But ya that boot and spring shot out, I already had the drain covered so I was able to find both pieces. It was self explanatory where the spring needs to be seated and the concave rubber goes into the housing. I'm about to go repair this faucet for a good friend of mine and hopefully save him some good money! I just wanted to ask someone with more experience with this set up, wanted to dig around a little and see if the housing the facilitates the valve goes bad or not. From the sounds it should just be the valve, spring, and rubber seal. Again, thank you for your freaky fast response, brother!!

    Still leaks for me

    • @larrypatterson3957
      @larrypatterson3957 5 років тому

      Bennett Hastings - I replace the valve because it was leaking from under the faucet (bell shaped) handle. If yours is dripping from the spigot, you need to replace the spring and rubber seal as well. They are available as well where you got the valve from. They come in a box with two different size springs and two different size rubber seals. Replace yours with the same size spring/seal combination. Also, make sure you tighten the nut that secures the valve. Don’t be a gorilla on it but do tighten it securely. I bought a cheap set of different types of needle-nose pliers from Harbor Freight. The small set is spring loaded to keep them open. That makes it ideal for removing and replacing the spring/seal combo. Close the handle, insert in the hole in the center of the seal and let go. The needle-nose spring will hold open the pliers to remove the items. To install, reverse the procedure. Put the seal on the spring and insert the plier and let go. The plier spring will hold them both while you insert it. Worked great for me. Good luck.

      Same issue - I have no idea if the spring sits on top of the black gasket or under. Also there are two (2) holes in the faucet; one straight down and one at an angle. I'm guessing the install is straight down and the spring goes in first to push the gasket UP against the valve.
