      @@Stvol123 Darn. Couple things I did in the kayak was find a few deeper cuts (around the outside of bends in any smaller canal or cut) and also downsized (very small) to some bream and sacalait beetle spins! Didn’t catch big ones, but it triggered the small to medium redfish during slow times. And other smaller fish like croaker. At least some action. And the big ones will eat it also. Keep enjoying. • @ThePentUpAngler
      @ThePentUpAngler 11 днів тому

      @@OrlandoPena-z9m Hello! And thanks for the sub. Depending on where you are in Texas… Tons of options all along the Southeast coast - Rockport, Port Aransas, Port O’Connor - all the way up into Galveston Bay (but I would say further South is better). Closer to Louisiana border you could really enjoy Sabine Lake. I’m not sure the exact launch sites, but I’m sure plenty all along that lake and the Sabine Wildlife Refuge. I will be putting out another video soon with another launch near Calcasieu Lake. If you come into Louisiana, all along Hwy. 27 through Hackberry there are lots of launch spots - Choupique Bayou, Spicer’s Marina, West Cove, Northline Recreation Area, etc. Very unique to the inland of Texas - you have 2 beautiful freshwater lakes just next to San Antonio that are loaded with redfish!! Sounds crazy, but it was an experiment by the Texas Wildlife and Fisheries and the reds thrived in these 2 lakes. Look up Calaveras Lake and Braunig Lake!! I haven’t been to either yet, but I have researched and mapped. Would be so easy and convenient. People catch reds there all year round. So interesting. And I think you can camp there also!? Bring a Rapala Rattle-Trap and you will get hit - trolling or casting. Good luck and hope you get out there and find them.

    I love how the water gets calm when the sun is setting out there, just an amazing place close to home. So many fish caught in only 4-5 hours. Great job! I went half a day today and had a great time trolling and jigging. It will only get better from here, need a good cold front! 🥶

    Remind us why they do the drawdown......

    • @ThePentUpAngler
      @ThePentUpAngler Місяць тому

      @@todd1808 Yes I should have mentioned that in the video. Mostly to kill the excessive vegetation growth and keep it from choking off the lake. Amazing how quickly that place will empty out once they open the ‘gates’. I’m still learning more about it myself. Hopefully some bream to catch maybe this Fall. Cheers!

      Yep! Always fun exploring out there. Was hoping to get some bar fish/white bass. Didn’t find any. Lots of gators!!! Will try again later in the Fall. Hope you’re catching somewhere!! Cheers.

      I've been going in my boat to The Point. I went Friday, caught lots of small fish. FYI RIde the Bull was a blowout! They had to shut it down at 1000am due to high winds. WHite caps in the pass and kayaks started flipping! My buddy flipped and lost both rods and his tackle box, not good. I came in just before they blew the horn, no bites. But there were about 30 reds caught early before the wind kicked up.

      @@toddyguidry3415 Wow. Great report. Thanks. I hope to get to the Point soon and often this Fall. Glad it didn’t get too much damage from Francine. I saw a couple UA-cam videos on Ride the Bull. Bummer. Amazing conditions. Very tricky there in tough conditions. Glad all were safe. Thanks for the reports!!

      Yep! Always see those gators out there, but more than ever with that drawdown and low water. Must have seen at least 25 or so in just 4 hours out there. Love it. Hope more soon! Hurricane arriving first. Darn. Cheers!

      Thanks a lot. Yep… nothing better than some variety and not quite knowing what you’re going to get. I wasn’t quite ready for those huge reds… I land them much better from the kayak and can chase them easier. Cool place! Thanks. Enjoying your channel. Keep it up and good luck!
