As next best thing to an oil analysis, I put the entire pleat in a container of varsol, agitate and remove, then swirl a neodium magnetic backing clip from an ID badge through the varsol and across all the surfaces of the container to gather all ferrous matter. The little button magnets on the clip are extremely powerful and collect pretty much all ferrous metal. After the varsol evaporates from the magnets, I'll see a little bit of microscopic fuzz stuck to the outer circumference of the magnets. For non ferrous, I put the varsol in a black plastic takeout food tray, let it settle, then drain it out and look at what's on the bottom, like panning for gold. Usually some very fine speckles of grey metal are visible, normal piston skirt or wrist pin plug wear. Lycoming considers significant size metal fragments, up to 9 pieces, to be acceptable. I expect that nearly all the really fine ferrous and non ferrous particles are shed during engine starts.

Great video and happy to find your channel. I’m in the process of purchasing a 74/75 177B - there are more than a few on the production year fence. Original POH says 1974 and FAA says 1975 per serial number. Looking forward to some Cardinal adventures.

I have this exact car being delivered end of summer my salesman tells me. Ordered it last summer.

You have a beautiful, rare shark blue Carrera S w/ aerokit and you barely show the overall car and, worse yet, you spend 1/3 of the video showing the car cover. What's up with that? I would love to see more the car in all of its beauty, preferably with the doors and frunk closed and without the car cover.

I love 911s, but this color is really not doing it.
